How To Make Korean Pan Fried Chicken with Deuki Hong

- Chef Deuki Hong of San Francisco’s Sunday Bird stopped by the MUNCHIES Test Kitchen to show us how to partially debone and pan-fry a whole chicken, and how to make his signature Korean chili sauce. This crispy bird is brushed with a sweet and spicy sauce made from roasted chicken bones and Korean chili paste, and served with roasted mushrooms, onions, and garlic.

i'm sure that Jacques Pepin deboning seems simple to people who can do it. but I tried it 5 or 6 years ago and it took me about an hour. next time it took about 45 minutes and then I decided to give up forever.
ive been cooking forever, and can kill a chicken, but that deboning explanation was horrible and they should just link to another video or not have included that part lol

Deuki is a gem
whoever edited the portion where he is actually prepping/deboning the chicken should be sat down for a SERIOUS talking to.... he describes all the moves and demonstrates them simply, but you insisted on cutting back out to look at him, rather than the food. terrible. the ONLY part of this that is potentially technical and tricky is cutting/deboning the chicken, and the editing managed to just make that an enigma.

That's not the purpose of munchies. The video would have been atleast 7 minutes longer. Pepin took that long to explain it and that's where he got the tech from. That's why he mentioned him. Go watch that vid and understand what munchies is about. It's not a teaching channel.

I like this guy, he doesn't have 500 wildly different personality traits that he has the show off. Just an occasional joke here and there, shuts up when he needs to and talks when needed. Cheers!

First time always takes awhile I think. Also you gotta think about how many times he made this dish lol second nature to him at this point. Keep cooking and practicing it'll get easier as you go

Jacques Pepin will show you how to do it very simply . Dont fret if you're first time takes awhile, id actually suggest taking your time to familiarize yourself with the cuts you need to make. Keep trying man!
