Its really sad how much of GT's potential was squandered by Executive Meddling and its tiny budget. Makes the fact that the dub skipped over a bunch of stuff just to reach Baby attacking earth that much funnier in hindsight.
I think the Villains get bad after Zoonama with the first couple being mediocre also I love your Idea for Oceanus Shenron chasing down Oolong especially because he made the first wish in the series
I really have no idea what GT's creators were thinking with the Super 17 arc. We have a plot involving dead villains returning ant the plot is instead about 17. I would have made Cell and Frieza the main villains instead. Also why did Cell even want to kill Goku in GT anyways? Cell was killed by Gohan, he should be out for revenge on him. The confusion with Mu and Baby could easily been fixed simply by explaining that he simply found Baby and based the technology he was using off him, while also gathering energy to revive him.
Man, and here I was thinking that the bottom 2 from the last video were bad. The bottom 3 here are just a special kind of terrible. Great video, and I look forward to seeing some more villain discussions in the future. My personal bias wants to see a Kirby villains ranking, as those are more consistently good than DBGT’s rouges gallery.
There is one aspect of the Black Star Dragon Balls that many people ignore (I guess it wasn't in the English dub): these Balls were created by the Namekian who then split into Kami and King Piccolo before he split in two, meaning that just like how the original Earth Dragon Balls were deactivated when Kami and Piccolo fused together, so did the Black Star ones when Kami and Piccolo split up, and were only reactivated during the Namekian fusion. That still doesn't explain a lot of other stuff about them, like why they were never detected after Dende became the new Kami or why Dende never learned of their existence in his twenty years as Guardian, but it does justify some other things. Pilaf probably never knew about the whole "earth gets destroyed in a year" thing because they were never used, and if they had been used it was long before any of the main cast were even born, but that doesn't explain why King Kai knows it. Were there other instances of Namekian Dragon Balls made by non-pure Namekians? Was that the reason why the original Namek was destroyed?
37:08 Yeah, I must say that made zero sense to me - exactly how _could_ he do that, and get away with it? What could he have accomplished if he didn't die?
The Sigma Force actually kind of cool. They look more like they something out of a Mecha anime or Megas XLR. If they were in that instead of this not so great Dragon Ball sequel then maybe they would be appreciated more.
While the last list was interesting coverage of all GT's competent villain material(as well as some of the less competent stuff), this one is a good sampling of this show has been hated for so long to the point Super basically supplanted it in the canon. Because on one hand, yeah decanonizing Baby and Omega Shenron as characters is pretty sad, but on the other hand, you also get to get rid of Dolltaki, who immediately stuck out to me as so awful I could scarcely believe he's a Dragonball villain that actually exists. I'm kind of surprised he's not talked about more as being awful? Similarly, Dr. Myuu being so obsessed with babies is so bad it wraps around to hilarious, and he somehow comes across as the biggest idiot in a list full of absolute idiots, which is pretty fucking impressive. I'd probably say Dolltaki comes across as the most offensive having just gone through the list, by I do think your choice for #1 made sense considering he's entirely responsible for Dolltaki and has a far bigger overall negative impact on the plot. Plus Dolltaki's death at Rilldo's hands is actually pretty good, admittedly. The thing that baffles me is how so many of these villains are so easy to fix or could genuinely provide a really interesting writing opportunity, but never even by accident do they touch on that potential. Ledgic and every returning villain here are particularly painful examples of that, and its astonishing how useless Ledjek was in the grand scheme of things when literally just having him come back for a half-decent fight was all GT needed to do to make him a villain at least some people thought was okay and remembered. The obvious ripoff catfish whose plot barely makes sense really shows how obviously this entire show was designed by a comity and not someone actually trying to write a proper story, though I can at least say whoever wrote Baby's arc and the Shadow Dragons(who honestly came out pretty well by the standards of this list) seemed to at least get why Dragonball is appealing to people.
There’s some nice gags in this video, like the No Way Home reference, the Other M jokes, and the edit of Lood’s head over one of Shrek’s kids. It’s certainly funnier than any of the jokes the Par Brothers tell.
Lol, the Sigma Force to me as someone who never watched GT were so unmemorable and generic looking I didn't even notice there were 4 in the clips shown until you said the 4 names.
Would you appreciate the Sigma Force more if they were in a Mecha anime instead? These robots interest me more than just yet another generic muscular DBZ villain.
I hate it when Android 17 weakly be brainwashed and so android 18 even after the long timeline of Dragonball passed and how 17 glad to be revived in the past and married. Well I just hate the story flow, the author just cheaply made a tragedy here. Naturally (cmiiw) if the androids could be easily be brainwashed like that, dr. Gero wouldn't be killed in the past though.
I don't know, man. There's two schools of thought when it comes to these villains. On the one hand, you can see these guys as like silly 90s Saturday morning cartoon villains; or on the other hand, you can see these guys as inspiration for future Dragon Ball media, as a way to make that piece of Dragon Ball media not poop. You can call them the worst things to exist, but I am going to appreciate them for what they are, and what they are is a part of Dragon Ball history.
At this point in the overall series, especially when it comes to returning villains, having SATAM villains just doesn’t cut it and sets an awful tone. This is still a series with tons of death, blood, and uncomfortable/sad moments in it. Zoonama and Dolltaki have absolutely no place in something like this.
@@BlusterTheBenevolent Fair points. But come on, Dragon Ball isn't entirely filled with what you mentioned, it has its moments of comedy and times of no violence, the former happening in a few dire scenarios. You, Villainous Warlord, and others are completely right with your thoughts on these bad guys, but for me, I'm intrigued with these villains either through their character, design, and or backstory, good or bad.
I'm not saying I didn't ironically enjoy some of them. Dr. Myuu in particular is just so bad he's good in that he's the technical source of almost everything bad in the show. If I didn't get enjoyment out of how bad they were, I wouldn't spend this long making this video. The ones who are more outright offensive are the handlings of the previous DB villains. I do try to make a point of how most of these villains could be used better, although for some of them there's not much to redeem for them. I didn't say every single GT villain was bad, the other GT video is a top 10 which goes over the best villains. It's not like I don't enjoy comedy villains in Dragonball either, Majin Buu and the Ginyus are far funnier than most of GT's failed attempts at humor.
@@VillainousWarlord Well, "worst" is in the title of this video, so whether you found enjoyment from some of these villains, bad or really bad, you still consider them the worst. Pilaf Gang were always comical, but they are just less obnoxious, at least in original DB. Fighting with a mech is more straightforward and direct than doing a hypnotizing dance routine. Pilaf Gang generally did not directly annoy the viewers. Yes, being after Z is a big disadvantage. I could much more easily believe the Zoonama episodes if they happened at the start of the series, but playing along with that whole gig was so dumb when it takes place after space battles that decide the fate of the planet. Even then, though, it wouldn't be good, it just would make more sense.
