Those poles are amazing!! I’m sooo thankful for finding you! You are so patient with your plants & thank you for your detailed explanations. I’m new at propagation. Love your babies, it’s a bonus treat to see them pop in ❤❤
Can we agree that Melissa is Fearless?! Your albo is just amazeballs. Looking forward to seeing the progress of all those mid-cuts, propagating in tap water and eventually appearing in your shop. You rock, girl!
This couldn’t have come at a better time, I have a Swiss cheese plant that’s on its fourth extension waiting for me to chop the top.. it’s decorated like a tree for now so I’m trying hard to wait till after Christmas 😂 I so appreciate all this info and the time you put in to it for us. Thank you!
@@kristinbryantheckman Yes! Without getting deep into it the ions copper s puts off make its so harmful bacterias cannot grow, therefore it does not allow algae to grow either. It also supports plants growth because its a vital micronutrient and helps to facilitate important functions that plants require.
@@tristinchristenson6349 love this! So i can just pick some up at a hardware store and cut a piece and keep it in the reservoir(s) of all my semi hydro plants and not worry about bacteria growth... awesome!
I would love to have an albo, but the way they get so big, I'll need a plant room for sure. I get so excited seeing yours, they're so pretty and healthy.
I really like the basketweave pot. So pretty. I paid a lot of money for an “Albo” during covid. I would bet $50 its a sport variegated. 95% of the leaves are green. A few have like a mottling splash of a hint of variegation. The first four leaves After I got it were solid green I contacted the lady she said give it time. I don’t know if she would’ve straight up said it was sport variegated I would’ve never bought it. If I ever sell a plant, I would never mislead someone. It just isn’t right.
Hi Melissa, that Albo is gorgeous! Good work. Thanks for sharing how you chop it! I really love the self water pot it’s in as well! I have 2 monstera Thai s and I have them both in pon now. They are doing amazing! They are not as big as yours but they are doing well. I ve learned so much from you.❤❤
Thank you!! Happy to share and that you've learned from my videos 🥰 I'm glad your Thai's are growing well in pon. I may be tempted to move one of mine over haha 🫶
Fantastic video Melissa. I love your videos. You are so brave to cut the plant up. I'm looking forward to see how all the propagation goes. I hope I don't miss when you put these up in your shop. I would love to be able to purchase one from you. I'm a new plant parent as a hobby as I find it very therapeutic for me. I really enjoy your videos. Thank you for all the knowledge you share with us.
Thanks so much! I will definitely let everyone know when it's time for the shop ☺️ I send out newsletters each week I do a restock so that's probably the best way to keep updated is via email.
I can’t tell you how happy I am that you posted this video. A few days ago I chopped the top off my Thai and put it directly into Pon without rooting it (I had to cut the arial roots down to fit in the pot but left as much as I could). I wasn’t sure if that would work and it’s a beautiful cutting. It’s been about 4-5 days since chopping and so far it looks good. Fingers crossed for both of us!
Oh I forgot to mention… last summer I chopped a few deliciosas. I put all the single mid cuts (I had about 20) in a 2.5 gallon bucket which didn’t look as cute as your vases but it saved space and only 1 vessel of water to change. I set it on the floor in front of a grow light. I could peek in to see if the water needed changing or not. Just an idea… I know you struggle with space too. 😊
I was a little worried about it 😬 but honestly it’s doing really well so far. I’m glad your thai is doing okay!! Hoping they both recover and get back to growing again soon!
I love the albo❤ I have 2 of them. One of them has all half moon leaves and it's my favorite. I'm sure everyone would love to have one of yours. Good rooting!😂
Omg you are the albo whisperer!! I have never been successful with albos 😭😭😭 I'm so jealous, that plant is soooooo beautiful!!! Can't wait to see what it does from here!
Hi I found this video very interesting. I’m a proud parent of close to 300 full houseplants but don’t own a monstera. I really love the color on the albo and how easy this plant is to propagate. It took me many years and experiences to learn about caring for houseplants. I can say that it’s a lot of work at first and much harder then caring for your garden plants but when you finally learn what works where in your house the passion soars. My birthday is January 20th. Maybe if available I’ll check out your selling site and buy a monstera from you . Thanks for your videos.
Love the new plant chop! Now you’ll have more sun in your room. My concern still since chopping my deliciosa even though I had roots growing on her aroids is losing the big leaves. I see some yellowing. 😢 I really hope yours is going to be okay. Looking forward to an update.
aw hopefully it bounces back 🥹 Albo is doing well so far - it's only been a couple days but hoping the roots that were left can still support all the leaves.
Plant chores for me are never less than 2 hours anymore and when I record its usually twice that 😅. I get it then you have to edit it and rewatch it over and over again….folks have no idea. 😊
That's a lot of monstera cuttings. I rerooted my monstera this year, even the wet sticks. The wet sticks are the ones that are growing now. Gave away some too.
It looks so beautiful😀 I started propergating my Monstera D. in September with filtered water. It is doing so well nice big roots by happening. Not planting it until spring. Love your channel, I am new plant parent so it helps alot.😀
Those roots in that plastic pole is so weird looking. Monstera is an amazing plant and what it can withstand. I am still propagating my deliciosa since finding rot a few weeks ago. I almost think she is happier in water than the soilless mix. 🤔 I would consider PON I think if I pot her up again just to try it, but I am scared. I know nothing about all that nutrition stuff you do nor do I really want too. 😂 I hate panty hose! Gosh I remember back in the day wearing them a lot. UGH! Chai is cracking me up watching you. My dogs love winter time because of the sun coming into the house now too. That thick fur yet they lay in the sun on heated floors (we have radiant heat).
They love the sun! ☺️🫶 aw pon is so worth a try! I definitely add more stuff than you need to. Just feeding with a hydroponic fertilizer is good enough and when you feel more comfortable you can try different things. My only regret is not trying pon sooner!
@plantsbymelissa have you ever considered using a wick & leca in your poles? Like instead of moss... I'm converting to pon but I have moss poles (with moss in them) so I'm trying to figure out what to do there. Thoughts? Video idea? 😊
I tired a moss pole with pon and it didn't work out well for me. The plant ended up getting mildew and the pon went dry more often since the moss absorbed the water. It was probably my fault for having the moss too close to the pon. I feel like leca would be hard to keep moist in a pole but always worth a try to experiment. maybe with a smaller pole/pot situation at first?
Hey I’d like your advice, I’ve gut my monstera albo and the main plant after cutting it is growing a stem from the node underneath the cutting but also starting to grow a stem from the node underneath that as well and just wondered if that’s okay?
I have a golden pothos that I got to grow pretty well on a moss pole with bigger leaves and short nodes, but the bottom is looking spindly, can I air layer and then chop for a smooth transition? Then I could just remove one pole and repot the top portion…
It’s basically just like using a stake and no need to water it all the time. I think the plastic back helped the aerial roots grow but it definitely gets wobbly the bigger the plant gets.
I love your videos and she looks great! I do have a question - why did you have her in a clear pole without moss? why did you decide to put her on a core pole instead of clear moss pole with a support? I'm just asking cause i have monstera and philodendrons that need a pole and I'm not sure which to do. thank you :)
I used a lot of the clear poles for my regular moss poles and I do love them but when the plant gets really tall and the leaves/vines get bigger the plastic pole can't withstand the weight so it'll want to fall over. I probably should have used a coir pole to begin with but I honestly wasn't expecting it to grow as quickly as it has.
I’m trying out purecrop 1. I got it to try out on mealies but it didn’t do a good job on them. It’s supposed to be great for spider mites and flat mites as well so I’m going to keep using it since I bought it.
It’s been crappy right now with the colder weather. It was just in the 30’s the other day 🙃 It averages around 50% and during the rainy months it can get 60+ in the spring and summer. I think the plastic back helped the aerials grow though.
I thought about it! I stuck it back in my plant room on a chair for right now lol but I'll have to move it. I worry about there not being enough light out there :/
Someone on insta grows theirs in pon and it's really big and so pretty! I was contemplating growing mine in pon at first but decided to stay with an aroid mix. I say go for it :D
What do you sell your monsterra plants for . I just bought a young 1 hopefully to let it grow large and then sell some small plants from that plant 🪴 and what plants are good for selling baby plants 🪴

aww I should have waited and decorated mine for xmas haha. I love that!! Good luck when you got to chop it! ☺️
25:17 i love this part when chai or star (i can’t tell them apart) appears out of no where 😂
Haha that's Star :D I cut a clip out because I accidentally ripped the first cover 🤣
This was a fun video. Bravo on keeping the base as a mother. Pure copper wire keeps your prop water clean and helps support cuttings.
is there some science to this?
@@kristinbryantheckman Yes! Without getting deep into it the ions copper s puts off make its so harmful bacterias cannot grow, therefore it does not allow algae to grow either. It depends on the growth & variegation that comes in. They won't be priced at the same amount.
