Bill, a couple thoughts. You've really had some frustrations there, sorrow to see all that.
    1. Talk to Mike Kirda about replacement gaskets. He's drafted them in the past for me to cut.
    2. If you're having trouble getting an engine to run consistently on ignition and have to use glow to get it going, it could be that it's not fully broken in or that the head needs to be warmed with a heat gun before running.
    3. TDs run MUCH better with a Nelson head from Kamtechnik. That's what I'm doing with all of mine and it lets you take out most of the guesswork so that even and old gummed up TD or a new one can have fuel dumped in and go straight to cranking it up.

I have a new Norvel .049 that won't run consistently. It will start and run like a champ one day, and won't run worth a damn the next. Same fuel, same weather conditions, same fuel bladder, same prop, etc. I also have a TD that won't run on fuel with more than 25% nitro after I replaced the cracked plastic carb body with an aluminum one. Sometimes, they just want to fight you...
