What a gift this gathering and recording is! Thank you for preserving this.
This is probably the greatest Gospel video ever made and apparently the most under appreciated over time. It is a lost treasure. Overlook the less than perfect sound and video quality as it was put out as a DVD several years after the original VHS from the 1987 event. There is a ridiculously expensive DVD available. For some reason this is not to be found on IMDB or Rotten Tomatoes. The line-up of stars is spectacular although for me, the Oakridge Boys seem a little out of place but they hold there own. More interesting is headliner Paul Simon who gets kudos for leading it and trying to hang in there with some of the greatest voices around in any genre. Two great moments for me occurred when Luther Vandross takes a solo (track 8) so amazing you can literally see Paul Simon's jaw drop. The second moment is with Vandross, Holliday, and Simon and it looks like Paul is going to squeeze into a fabulous duet and he just stops and backs up as he seems to simply realize he is not up to their magic at that moment.
I dug out my DVD from years ago and it is still fabulous music in all ways. Many thanks to Mr. Tarberg for putting it up.
