@@SupremeRuleroftheWorld I did think the same although my place is likely half the size of that I've got Alexa via zigbee and IFTTT does everything from door locks outside lighting routines alarms and about 600quid and that's mainly me having a bad urge to buy too many sensors 😂

We just recently fitted a C4 system in place of an outdated lutron system. We added the whole box n dice which C4 was uniquely suited for with its retrofit ability. Cams, gates, HVAC... The lot. Thank you so much for the video. This explained to someone who is not nerdy the basics of automation. What is interesting is I got my wires crossed (no pun intended) thinking that the lights could also be connected with the same network cable but seeing your video they are on a different line/channel lol. Love it. I run an architecture design and drafting house in Australia. We have this system available to us. I'm going to look into it. Thank you for the clear picture of the over all system.
Great video - So basically Control4 is a very very expensive version of the free system called Home Assistant, and never say hackers can never get into the system. all it takes is for your password to be known, or for you to lose your phone. The user is the weakest link.
That's like saying a Mercedes S600 is a very expensive version of kit car you can build in your garage. Yeah they technically do the same thing but in practice they are not nearly the same experience. The person who wants a system like this does not want to spend hours troubleshooting why their Raspbery Pi is not liking their Ubuntu build and their not trying to search github forums to figure out why their lights turn off every time they turn the sprinkler system on.
i guess control4 is for those who just want the fun stuff and dont want to bother with anything technical. i'd still always recommend HomeAssistant over anything else. Why spend money on a vendor which might shut down in the future. also they can remote into the system? what the fuck? thats a huge privacy problem.
What I want is a smart home, what I don't want is an internet connected home. Unless everything is local and not wireless it wouldn't be for me. I love automation though. But this system is class, aside from the remote access of course. If the remote is an encrypted dongle that I'd have to physically plug in then okay. I know this is a display but the cable management is lovely.
especially when he says someone can connect remotely and do stuff on your system. If there is a way to connect, there is a way to connect. Hacking may be code, may be social-hacking and getting access.
