I remember playing the Incredibles theme for my school band a few years ago. It was great, but seeing the US army band play was absolutely INCREDIBLE

"Life's incredible again" is my favorite part of this soundtrack. Every time I listen to it it makes me think of how truly incredible life is. It's such a heartwarming swing waltz. This soundtrack is so perfect

Sure seems like it. They play a lot in these concerts, and playing up there is taxing
It’s pretty common in Jazz to have the soloist have the (otherwise) easiest part. Let’s the player really push the solo knowing the section has the rest of the piece.

Hi! Yes, I do rest some on this piece, but it’s mostly on the things that are already doubled. We’ve got 6 players in the section and I use an assistant on this piece. This was just one tune in a whole concert, so I have to pace myself!

Top-level army bandsmen are at about the same level of ability and musicianship as players in major symphony orchestras, and in many cases they went to the same schools.
This cameraman is ridiculous, zooms in on everyone besides the saxophone at all of the sax solo measures or even when theyre at the forefront of the music. Its actually infuriating.
There are obviously several cameras...it's up to the video director to choose between the shot they want at any given time....blame the video director....
Did you watch the video? They had the camera on the sax solo almost the entire time.
@@aclator Throughout the beginning at every point the sax had a stand alone the camera was on another instrument. Even when the alto had a real solo at the end which involved cheering and clapping, the camera still chose to focus on another instrument before focusing on his solo.

@@thepoynt quite relaxing actually, hopefully my harsh criticism reaches whomever it needs to. All sarcasm aside, I'm fine with one poor camera angle or shot but the entire video. No no no.

Best military band I've ever heard, playing an astounding soundtrack with amazing musicianship. Hats off! I especially like the part in 5/4 at 3:45.

This was really nice to hear because I'm playing the incredibles theme for my movie theme concert (along with the up theme, Jurassic park theme, and the avengers theme) and although we won't sound this good at a professional high school it was nice to here it from a band perspective rather than a trumpet perspective and I'm excited for this!!!!

bit late here, but its a mix of the mute and a flutter tongue/growl technique

Every country in the world has a military band that is usually the best in the country, at least in my country it's like this too (argentina)
I just can't express how much I love this. There's so much to love. The transitions between songs, how it sounds, the ending part and just everything. It's perfect.
It basically became part of my daily routine. Every time I go to work I listen to this to boost my morale.

Thinking out loud. It's interesting that the conductor chose to conduct through the larger jazz portions such as the ballad and the opener. Im curious if he did this for his own benefit or for the musicians. It really makes me think especially because of how laid back the sax soloist was in the opener. Not that it matters, if it was a studio recording you wouldn't know if it was conducted or not. Im going to assume that not all of the musicians in the video are all jazz musicians, and the opposite apply's as well. I guess what I'm saying and or asking is, what were the effects of the piece being conducted vs if it wasn't.
By the way, awesome performance and I always love what you guys put out there.
Interesting comment, in my opinion, for an orchestra either way the conductor's main job is to establish the emotional direction from all of the individual cues. The conductor will usually go through with the orchestra during rehearsal to refine all of the parts which will make it perform best acoustically and with the greater performance in mind, so he probably did it for the larger jazz portions too; it may also help everyone feel connected.
The studio track sounds so tight because of mastering and mixing best takes, but in this case, the conductor provides the leadership and focus to stop the individually tallented musicians from thinking about themselves and their cues, and places the focus on how they add to the emotional tone at large

I literally didn't find a SINGLE comment appreciating the few flutes there were. they had a couple of cool moments yet no one talked about it 😭 appreciate the flutes they work just as hard as everyone else! their fingers are going a mile a minute and I noticed a lot of slurring. As a flutist myself its not easy so lets hear it for the flutes! THE BAND WAS AMAZING❤️
But are we gonna talk about how fluid the conducting is???
