For the first time in nearly two years, the Boeing 737 Max took to the skies above the United States, with paying passengers onboard. I was one of those passengers. I recorded the entire flight, in crystal clear 4K, so you too can fly on this historic flight! Join me on American Airlines flight 718 from Miami to New York. The return to service flight, of the Boeing 737 Max!

There are plenty of stories of other airlines that had similar problems with the MAX and due to the flight crews training, it was a non issue. Boeing could have done a much better job with the MCAS system granted, but the responsibility ultimately falls in the pilots hands. Seasoned pilots knew how to handle it. I work at LAS for a contractor...contracted to Air Canada. The day they cancelled all the 737-8 Max planes, OMG! They were cancelling some of our flights for the day and the connections from the other cities. It was pure madness. I know how difficult it was for everyone. I'd rather them be safe than not. I absolutely hate when the FA's decide to do their briefing when the engines are starting up. It ruins up the entire experience. I was recently on a GRU-DFW flight on the 787 and they wouldn't shut up even when the plane was rolling for take off. It drove me completely nuts.

People seem to have forgotten the rudder failures that resulted in a few horrendous crashes on the 737. The Max issue was not really a design fault but rather Boeing not explaining the need to learn about MCAS. The blame squarely falls on Boeing for the deaths.

"The Max issue was not really a design fault"
Seriously? Where've you been the last 2 years? MCAS was MASSIVELY flawed, badly implemented and now radically redesigned in every way.

I flew on the last 737 Max 8 from BDL to MIA. Didn't know it at the time but hours after we landed, they grounded the planes! A couple things, I noticed it took off steeper than normal, but was super smooth and very quiet. I loved it! Of note I take between 50 and 75 flights annually. I'm glad to see them back! I can't wait to fly on one!! Thanks for the vid!!!

Hi B, I'm pretty sure that Boeing have and will continue to pay for their past transgressions, but it's still great to see the MAX safely flying again, well done to you for getting on board and sharing the moment! Great views of Manhattan and that was one hell of a tight left turn approach on short final. I looked up the approach for runway 31 at KLGA and it's called the Expressway Visual Approach and it's not something for faint hearted pilots, as there's not much time for them to get the aircraft stable in time for landing. Regards P from lockdown UK :-)

I was on one with American before it was grounded. My native country's carrier, Air Canada, obviously has them now too. I have a house in the Cayman Islands, and they received two Maxes and celebrated it being the first Max in the Carribbean but weeks later they had to ground it. So now there's airport vehicles with the "First 737 Max in the Carribbean" that didn't age well over the past few years.
I almost hate how quiet the plane is. I like hearing the engines, it sounds interesting and tells me the engines work!
