I will say that if you want the best bang for the buck Fuji X-mount lens, then I think it's the XC 35mm f/2. This lens has exactly the same optical formula as the XF 35mm f/2, but it does have some major differences. The XC lens does not have an aperture ring and it does not have the weather sealing that the XF lens has. It's a bit smaller and lighter as a result. But for the same optics, it only costs about $200 brand new. I bought one of these for use on my X-H1 and it's amazing. Autofocus is fast and the lens is totally unobtrusive to use. Highly recommend this one unless you need to use it in incredibly wet, muddy, snowy, extreme conditions.

my favorite xf lens in that range is the old 35/1.4 with a 1/4 bpm filter. although it isn't weather sealed and doesn't have super fast autofocus, it produces filmic images and is fairly light and compact. i typically have that lens on the xt-3 and the old 18/2 on the xe-3. i don't vlog or shoot sports, so slower AF isn't a deal breaker for me and the weather sealing isn't as big of a deal as i thought it would be. kristen and i have been shooting a combination of weather sealed and non-weather sealed lenses on nikon, fuji, and olympus bodies in all sorts of conditions from FL to TN and have never had any issues. although a drop onto some stones in CO during a shoot last year did finally put the rear screen of our OG x100 out of commission *sad panda noises*

Lol I make that sad noise along with you. The x100 is a gem. Thanks for the info. I didn’t know about those lenses.

The X-Series was actually on my short list for a mirrorless camera system. I ended up going with the Sony E-Mount only to turn around and go back to my roots with the Nikon F-Mount. Excellent breakdown on these three lenses.

Thanks Alex. It came down to the video for me. I tried the Sony a7ii and didn’t care for it like I did the Fuji especially since it has the film simulations. I have never tried a digital Nikon camera but I see they’re the weapon of choice for professional digital photographers a lot.

Have you tried Viltrox? A lot of people like them including me
