The 787-9 "Dreamliner" is the perfect airplane for Austrian Airlines. While the 767-300ER, and the 777-200ER have both excelled very well for their long-haul operations, the 787-9 would do very nicely as well for a chosen type. I'm glad Austrian has stayed committed to the Boeing company for a new wide-body long-range airplane. Good for Austrian Airlines!!

  • @humongousballs

Just searched for this a few days ago since their fleet is so old. Expected this since the 787 fits their capacity requirements perfectly. Also perfect for Lufthansa since they can now streamline their cabin and fit newly built 787s with their own custom cabin while Austrian will take the planes originally ordered by the HNA group that have a different cabin. I flew on the Austrian 777 many times and will fly them again in august but unfortunately no 787 yet.
I'd also expect a pretty sizeable order or transfer for narrowbodies for Austrian/Swiss soon since their A320 fleets are also very old.
