I've seen these Irish centres both in the UK and US, and my assumption is that they were originally opened as like community hubs for Irish people living in these cities back when it wasn't as easy to be an Irish person in the UK. I went to one in Buffalo NY and they were nearly in tears when I said I was from Ireland.

I'm glad I found this channel before my trip to Dublin last year, and I'm glad it helped take me to the Gravediggers, for instance. That content will abide; and every now and then you might find you want to update it, or put a new spin on it.
For the future, I wondered how you'd feel about reporting on other great beer-drinking/pubgoing cities, like Prague, or Munich, or Cologne? I know your tastes are broadening, but I don't know how far! I like your no-nonsense approach, and I think it would work in places like that.

Back in the late '90s it was the Tyneside Irish Centre that had the best pint, as they were bringing it over direct from home, whereas all the stuff available elsewhere in the UK was brewed here. Now it's all brewed at home and shipped from Ireland. A lot of which comes to Runcorn.
Not been in the Irish Centre since about late 2000. It's changed a bit. Was like a working men's club back then. Been ponsed up a bit now.
Last time I was there, when I came outside there was a girl squatted down on the other side of the road with her dress gathered up round her waist and her knickers pulled to one side, pissing into a drain.

I agree with The Guinness Guru when it comes to Greggs, its shite, I live in Yorkshire and much prefer Thomas The Baker bakeries which are all over the yorkshire region, pasties, pastries and sandwiches taste better and the bread is fresher, the coffee is awful at Greggs as well, you dont have to go to a posh hipster coffee place, although their coffee is better, just any cafe with a coffee/espresso machine will be better than Greggs, it just goes to show how much you are simply paying for the brand and not quality, at least with Guinness it is still a big brand but you still get a great quality pint if its poured correctly and being in Ireland helps, all the workers in Greggs do is press a button for the coffee and it tastes like burnt cement!
