The power of performance. Of movement. Of sheer, raw emotion. The metaphorical blood spilling forth from an unrecoverable wound that ends up shrouding u as a walking dead. Barely able to move beyond u find your beloved violin - a child of sorts - but no bow to play it. U then find your bow and there is nothing but unspeakable grief & beyond futile anger as neither will bring back life as we know it. It is mournful, sorrowful, vperformance. I am deeply moved Diana. I'm now curious about the Butoh performance & am looking it up to find out more. It need not be spoken that the devastation, the tragedy, the travesty happening in Gaza/Israel immediately comes to me as it is never far from me. Ever. But it is elsewhere. In Darfur. And so many warlord places. Places of conflict that should not be where mothers lose their babies & lives are horrifying lost. Thank you for expressing what so many of us share but know not how to speak of it. The collective grief & mourning. And still. It continues. God help us help ourselves.
