I wasn't surprised about the last one, it probably would have floated if the bottom was taller to counterbalance the huge top, and if you see real cruse ships, a ton of the boat is actually underwater. don't ask me how I know this, I just do.
The manufacturer literally advertises right on the box, the boats that actually float. Lego produces sets with water-tight, floating hulls specifically for water use.
when you put the boats in the water, you're disrupting the surface tension. the kayak might have floated if you held it from the top, rather than the bottom.
