Okay naval architect here, that ballast keel on the first "solid" hulled boats doesn't counter the waves. It moves the center of mass below the center of buoyancy, without the ballast the ship is like trying to balance a pencil on its tip. What actually counters the waves is the center of buoyancy moving around. Also love the pronunciation of yacht, the correct way is clearly wrong along with most English pronunciation.
We bought an old lobster vessel of a fisherman awhile ago, he wasn’t happy with how shallow its keel was, coast guard steamship inspector wasn’t happy with the 800lbs of rocks in the bilge he used to make it more stable lol
@@FundyisleLegacy why would anyone want more draft, the only advantage I can see is changing the rolling characteristics or rectifying a loll issue. If a boat you bought has a loll issue you probably shouldn't be just putting rocks in it to fix the issue.
@@abyssaljam441 yeah he wanted it to roll less, he’s the one who put the rocks in, we took them out and put the boat in operation in an area that doesn’t get the wave action that the others have
Ive had a coastguard boat in 2010 or so it was bigger than the polar explorer ship, but it was GIANT as a Kid. I played with it like it was a cruise ship or a battle cruiser
i'm curious, as to what would happen, if the propeller was tested out on a boat from the city set from the artic expeditions series or one of the two boats the aqua raiders used. would they still float?
There actually were electric motors that could clip to the keel from the floating series. I had a couple of those. They were not from Lego, but came from a small submarine toy, that I also had.
5:59 Its a playmobil propellor motor. I love playmobil and I can confirm these playmobil motors are all defect and can’t be turned around so they are correct
I know 😂 I was looking ages for a LEGO one that worked but then I saw a blue motor that looked exactly like the video and I clicked on it to find it was PLAYMOBIL. I love playmobil I loved ever since I was 3
You missed an entire generation of Lego boats. The early 90s fire boat, police boat, and cruiser. Also for video purposes the first pirate ships as well.
6:21 RMS BRICKTANNIC, Feb 20th 2024, hit a tub wall and sunk will all hands lost. Rescue vessel RMS BRICKTORY 6:29 capsized at the last known location while searching for survivors.
It looks like a chitting when they do whole boat from just 1 through 3 part. Because we all know that lego isn't waterproof and very small gaps between pieces can pass water.
I’m planning on making one of my big model battleships float and attaching one of these motors to the Barton of it with the keel piece too but also machining a Leo plate to fit it so we have as little leaks as possible and adding a smoke effect to make it look like the ship is really sailing
I know I’m gonna sound like a nerd, but the thumbnail is false because he would’ve only tested about 53 years of LEGO boats. Please don’t come after me, your videos are great.
Who else noticed lego did an illegal building technique on the second boat
How?
Ohhhhh😅😅😅
Oooooh
Oooh
@@Fiery_studioson top pf the bridge they put a yellow 2x1 in between the studs vertically
Love the nostalgia this brings back.

Never get too old for Legos
That’s why they say 0-100 years
I dont think 100 years ago was 1961 but i like this still

Unlike that first boat The boat I built myself custom made with no instructions with way too many colors inside it actually floats better
This is just showing off all the cool old Lego sets he has
I’m shocked that you didn’t talk about the short-lived little motor for some boats from the 2000s
He did
@@AlexDoodes o
Nice clickbait, but it's actually 63 years of LEGO boats.
Yeah but he made a good video and that’s all that counts -wise words I did not steal from another video
@@Evbrosworld Eh, I'd say it's mediocre, especially with the editing and what--not.

For the flickfire missiles around 3:20 need to be flicked not tapped but it looked hard to do that when the boat wouldn’t stay in place
Cool boats

Loved the friends boats 7:32
Lego policemen in the 3rd boat look like Jean Paul gaultiers😂
missed a couple... thousand
Thanks for doing this, I am writing a book on LEGO, and I wanted to write at least a little something about boats and how they float.
7:15 perfectly describes the actual movie
I had one of those boat motors. They are genius.
0:54 nobody: 7y old me having a bath😂
I wish this guy changed "In 1979 this pirate raft was released" to "In 1779 this pirate raft was released"
Thank you for the cat nap build
That first boat NEVER sunk. It takes on water but stays buoyant
I love how the submarine floats but the bad guy boat doesn’t
i like how the bad guy's BOAT sinks but the good guy's SUBMARINE floats just fine at 2:53
Ur such an underrated youtuber
a collection of lego boats, fantastic😗

What minifigures see: North Sea

Great video. Definitely a channel I'll be watching more of.
This!!! This is my dream that I can be a grown man having fun with his lego

Great video
Help! A Lego ship had sank in the Lego City Harbor (Tub)! Build the all new Lego City Fleet to Rescue the Men!
There is one ship of lego that you should like to try. The name of that ship is lego Titanic. 1000 dollar. 9090 pieces.
You missed an entire generation of Lego boats. The early 90s fire boat, police boat, and cruiser. Also for video purposes the first pirate ships as well.
Love it!
i actually had one of those yellow battery powered motors as a kid, never realized it was from a lego set!
I'm so impressed with your knowledge and expertise. You're clearly an expert in your field.
LEGO BOATS YEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH
SOME FLOATS
Wow amazing i like 😊😊❤
Alternate title: I tested 62 years of Lego boats
My dream .
I had no clue that those big hulls had an electric motor attachment, i just thought it captured extra air for buoyancy.

Titanic:Am i a joke to you am a boat aswell ships are boats aswell
As a kid I had one of these red boats, the second one you showed. I had completely forgotten about it, now I remember it bc of that keel! 😅
3:00 the irony that out of them two, the sub, which to be a sub should sink, doesn't. While the boat, which should float, sinks.
6:22 bro bumped an iceberg like titanic 💀💀💀💀💀💀
0:41 people say that the yellow plate on the roof is illegal, but it’s actually a lost technique
I have the boat from 1973 with the kiel and I never thought that it would be so old

Anybody get a strong urge to start singing the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald when the first boat started sinking or just me?

I did not know that lego made parts like that nor did I know that it was illegal
I still have my "original" pre moving Minifigures
My main go-to was the 1991 Cabin Cruiser (set 4011)
Old one go boom
Where is Lego pirates of the Caribbean sets?
Can you make a 100 year version of a lego car?
4:01 cause theres no wave😊 and i think you forgot some swamp police sets
It’s ironic how the submarine floats and the boat sinks

I meant about 63 years of LEGO boats, whoops. Nice to explore this history of how LEGO boats started.
Note to self all sailboats made by LEGO sink 😂
My Lego Stryker APC floated pretty well. "Minifigure Scale," too. Too bad I scrapped it for parts.
Why does this Australian guy sound vaguely Irish?
6:22 bro the ship crashes and the front explodes like a apple what a tradegy
Thought you were going to finish with the Titanic 😊
Fun fact Lego is 92 years old
So the Lego brand is still not 100 years old
Awesome
6:40 you should make a part two when you experiment boats that can float with motors
"100 years" yeah try cutting that in half buddy
them using these parts that float but then dont use them: we are not big brain
BRUH HE PROBABLY BUILDED THE FIRST LEGO BOAT😂😂😂
