Thanks so much for your support! We love seeing you back here in the comments every week. We're just happy that this truck will be ripping soon so we can show you guys some real fun stuff!
@Mike true but here I'm tx/ark where I'm at u see it all the time. Lift kits mud grips lights ect and they freak out if they gotta drive down a dirt road. And they crawl over speed bumps slower then my slammed ranger or bagged civic
'87 was the last year for those 3rd gen C/K series regular cabs "1/2 tons & 3/4 tons only" & '89 for the 1 ton regular cabs. The crew cabs, 7th gen Suburbans, & 2nd gen K5 Blazers & Jimmys stayed in production up through '91.
I love workin on my squarebody trucks. Main problems I have is I'm too heavy handed with the old plastic interior parts but some of it is almost impossible to get apart without breaking.
That flywheel looks to be the same one I used. It cracked after a few months and had to go with a SPI cert flywheel. Was very happy with the Hooker headers.
great vid guys and informative. The trans part with the factory 4l80e connector is a good tip and can bus signal, didn't know the psi harness offers those wires. She is real bling up front lookin sweet, love the color combo in the engine bay also.
I know you probably make these videos shorter because they perform better that way on RUclips BUT I wish they were longer. I love your content. I've seen channels with over a million subs that don't have the quality you guys have in your videos. Such a good channel. Thanks for posting.
Thanks so much! We'd love to make some longer videos, but it's all just a matter of what we can get accomplished by the time a new video needs to go out. The last thing we want to do is stuff in an extra 2 minutes of wiring time lapses or useless/redundant explanations just for the sake of making a longer video. That wouldn't be fair or beneficial to you guys! As we grow, hopefully we'll be able to make some longer videos for y'all! We'd love if you shared our channel with your friends or family, and if you like the stuff we're wearing in an episode, the merch that we sell in our store helps support the media creation. Thank you so much for your support. It really means a lot to us!
Dude, I hit that like button before I even watch the video…lol. “But Andrew, what about those used rings bruh?” Lol. I put a low mileage LS1 in my 85 c10. Have to finish it up this spring.
Planning this exact build in my set up. Curious, which engine mounts did you use? It seems like you have a ton of room up front. I know there are mounts that move it about 3" forward and up so you don't have to notch the frame or firewall
well its probably to late for you to know this, and it wont be the most pretty thing and i know you guys are more professional than I am. But I got the computer mounted behind the ashtray self tapped into the Y for the heat and ac. I also got the ls fuse box mounted behind the glovebox but i had to cut up the fuse box. Cause im just trying to have a ls swap square so I did it the most simple way which i found to just use both fuse boxes for the original truck and the Ls. Fires up just fine, i just need trans lines so i can actually fire it and let it idle for a bit.
If it works it works! We're still running AC in the car so we didn't want to try to stuff everything in the dash then find out we screwed ourselves over when it came time to do the AC system. When you get that thing idling, take a video on IG and tag us in it! We'd love to see your project!
They didn't. I'm trying to figure that out now. It doesn't shift correctly. There's a Dakota digital sen-01-128 they used on the np208 but after speaking to Dakota digital, these are not designed for ECU feedback. I'm learning the only proper way to do it is with a 40 tooth reluctor ring somewhere in the transmission. I have to inspect it this weekend by removing the rear dummy plug in the 4l80e and seeing if there's a reluctor inside but if it's a transmission from after '97 there isn't one.
@@SalvagetoSavage welcome, but I thought Mike was the brains of the shop! Removing the beauty covers from the valve covers , let’s those coils run cooler, good for 7 to 10 HP, never any fun when one company makes a product then forgets to test fit it in an actual real live install to ensure it fits!
Today everybody doing half ass work. Not here. Great job. Professional install. Like the gauges. Can't wait to see completed. I have a hardtail. Was my dad's. Wanting to paint it. My dad had a orange w/ white stripe 69 Chevelle. What's the color of your Chevelle? My dad and I both love color orange. He would of loved the cars/trucks you all do. But his favorite would of been the Chevelle. Great videos and content. Thank you. 😎👍
Thanks so much for the support! Our Chevelle is orange with some white racing stripes. It'll be getting a new paint job though before it's all done. We have a whole playlist already of that build if you'd like to check it out!
I love the idea of this LS swap, something I would have loved to do with my dads truck. Just curious everything looks so good why didn’t you give the engine bay a refresh cleaning and quick spray to really show off the new LS. Trying not to be critical but it seems like a small job with engine out even if done with a shaker can.
The engine bay was pretty clean to start with. There were no really noticeable torn up parts or rust spots. Sometimes if you try to spray over the little things, they tend to stand out more because the paint won't match up correctly. The entire bay didn't warrant a respray, so we figured it was best to leave it how it was!
With a fresh hone I don't see why the rings wouldn't seat, although it is a little unorthodox to reuse them. Given good bores, it should be good as new. I would have also put in ARP rod bolts, but then you'd need to rebalance the rotating assembly. So I get it. Looks like a great build with realistic goals and a reasonable budget. PS: I would have moved earth itself to make those valve covers fit, they looked great.
We were very much on the fence about whether or not to cut into that cover to make it fit. Andrew decided it was better to just find another route since the cover had such a nice crinkle black powder coat on it. It would have been way too hard to match up.
It really depends on where you pull your parts from. A running junkyard LS could be pretty cheap if you have a pick and pull near by, but you might run into issues not having everything you need for it to run (wiring harnesses, sensors, etc). Full drop in set ups are available online. They can be a bit pricier, but you at least know you're getting a good motor with everything that it needs to run in some cases. The rest comes down to labor and whether or not you're doing it all yourself.
What did you do for a return fuel line? I saw only a feed and vent from the fuel hat? No knock sensors, or did you mount them on the side of the block?
We are using a 1997-2004 corvette fuel filter which is self regulating to 58psi. It has the standard inlet and outlet with an additional 3rd port which is the return. It is Mounted 2 feet from the tank. And yes knock sensors are mounted low on the side of the block.
Sorry if I missed this did you have an issue with the front crossmember and the oil pan? I’m assuming you needed to cut part of that crossmember or change the pan?
Where do you guys get the battery cable you use? About at that point to measure my own and like how clean yours looked vs some other “cut to length” options on Google. Thanks!
