      Born & raised in Southern Louisiana .. Grew up eating soft shells but I'm definitely trying your style of cooking these beauties! I have about 3 dozen of blue crab soft shells at the moment. That dipping sauce looks AMAZING!

    I’m so amazed at how people take the time to write negative comments, why??? If you’re much better, post your own. See how you’d feel when people write bad comments. 🤬

    The crabs are harvested when their shells have fallen off making them entirely edible! Give them a go-they're incredibly tasty deep fried!

    Hi chileBeast. Most soft shell crabs in Asian supermarkets are frozen and come pre-prepared. However, if you're lucky enough to find fresh soft shell crabs then lift the shell on each side and remove the gills by snipping then out with a pair of scissors. Hope this help!

    Hi! Whoops sorry about that and thanks for drawing our attention to the flour variation. In the video Rich used rice flour and plain flour, but if you can't get hold of rice flour you can use cornstarch flour no problem. We're huge fans of soft shell crabs too. Let us know how you get on making up the dish. It's so tasty!

  • @ScoffTV
    @ScoffTV  11 лет назад

    It is indeed! You can use sweet soy sauce instead of the kecap manis no problem! Let us know how you get on making the dish. It's delicious!

    in the video, you said rice flour, but on the recipe you said corn flour? 1). Corn flour is it the cornstarch? 2) we have cornmeal in the US, 3) Is it rice flour and cornstarch flour or cornstarch flour and all-purpose flour? Thank you very much for sharing the recipe with us. I love soft shell crabs.

    Looks great!!! I do have a question, Whenever I've eaten crabs before, I had to remove something from inside the shell. Does that need to be done with the soft shell crabs, or are they different?

    To make it easier powdery seasoning is to use dried pepper and chop the garlic instead of the whole garlic.

  • @analaloca27
    @analaloca27 11 лет назад

    The English word "ketchup" actually comes from the Malay/Indonesia word "kecap" "(c" pronounced "ch"). "Kecap" usually refers to soy sauce, "manis" means "sweet" and "asin" means "salty". Thus "kecap asin"= soy sauce and "kecap manis" = sweetened soy sauce.

    • @quietlychattering
      @quietlychattering 3 года назад

      And to add-on, the kecap or kicap, the ke or ki is pronounced more like English word ”key”

    How is it possible to be a chef and still think that the heat from a chili comes from the seeds?!?! If someone gets something as basic as that wrong, you have to wonder.

      +footballboots69 go & read some reliable research from chili experts & you'll understand that seeds do not provide the heat yet there's another way to reduce it.

      Some of the heat comes from the seeds. Anyone who has spent time cooking would know that.... go eat a chilli without seeds and one with and tell me which one is spicier.
