    I got two way silver nano ceramic film done on my house. Getting about 80% heat rejection and 99% UV. Pretty happy with it so far.

    I've been out of the widow game for over a decade, but it used to be just about every window manufacturer would void the warrantee if window tint was used. On dual pain widows if they were tinted it would blow the seals and I'd have to tell the customer their window isn't covered anymore because of the window tint, And also to check with the company that did the window tint to see if they covered the windows against seal failure

    If you already have double pane windows but they are not that effecient what other options do you have besides tint?

  • @damiendewitt6947
    @damiendewitt6947 Год назад +3

    I agree with mad max, they have films that are rated much higher for heat rejection plus with film you might have to wait a week as for certain windows have a 16-20 week lead time

    I have a very old 15-20 year old dual pane window. The previous owner installed massive windows so everyone can see right into the front room and kitchen. I installed Gila window film, but the windows heat up in the summer. I am considering 3m ceramic window film for added heat reduction in the summer, but also privacy. How do I know if the window has low E and if so would the 3m film work with an old double pane window? I also want to be able to see out of the window at night.

    Replacing windows is too expensive, not many options Available. Fortunately I have double panel windows….i believe Tinted windows help

      That's why I'm here can't find any videos.. I have one on a window I tested it with a Temperature gun an the tint was 98 with no tent 90 it increased the temperature it be very hot by the touch while other window with out cool at the touch

    • @SAAWood13
      @SAAWood13 Год назад

      high infrared rejecting window tint will often feel hotter to the touch because it is absorbing the infrared before it enters your home. If you measured the temperature around the window before and after tint, I bet the furniture/air/space immediately in front of the window decreased in heat, even tho the window itself increased

      @SAAWood13 I looked it up that shouldn't put tint on low class E because it ready has a special tint on it to help reduce the heat if I add a uv tint on my window can cause damage to my window

    I am interested in how U-Factor relates to SHGC when it comes to keeping the home cool in the summer.

    • @americanwindowconcepts5510
      @americanwindowconcepts5510  2 года назад

      Hi Darren, U Factor, like R Value will measure the transfer of relative warmer air from inside the home through the window. The SHGC will measure the amount of relative heat allowed through the window from the exterior of your home.

      Really annoying finding contradicting information. I feel these videos are an up sale to have a professional gauge your windows and recommend the best solution.
      I have 1 window with privacy film in a bathroom. It's facing east and has been cracked ever since I bought the home. I wanted to add privacy to my living room and now I'm more confused than before.
