OMG saved me some time, money, and impressed my husband with the fix!!! Our screen door wouldn't stay locked you just had pulled up on it and it would come open. I realized it was related to the spring/wheels. I thought I had to buy new wheels or even a door! Glad I found this video. Didn't know about the screws to tighten the wheels up! THANK YOU!

You said those guys selling the cheaper windows are just trying to be cheaper, and don't give any reasons as to why their value is better. You didn't give us any reasons why your expensive windows are better other than they have a warranty. If your windows are so much better, it should be pretty easy to justify why they're over 40% more expensive, but you didn't. That leads me to believe they're not that much better.

I like how you use both the words "customer" and "consumer". You seem to use customer as a word to describe a wise buyer who does their research and is willing to pay more upfront for a quality product. In short, a customer is more of a long-term thinker. Consumers on the other hand seem to think more about the short-term and how they can save money. However, they don't consider how that low quality window can end up coming back to haunt them.

I have some 36 year old wooden windows that 5 out of 7 panes of glass have this, because they're wooden the sills are also far rotten, i repaired the sills with wood filler and used a low powered sander to even it out and painted. I think my windows are too far gone and i need full vinyl windows. Could repair the sills and do this but why short out when it will have short life 20-30 years when some more money gets me vinyl for a lot longer.

In a 4-unit rental property, the 2nd floor unit. This unit has an inside entrance and then also a door that opens out to a small patio/balcony. The two bedrooms do have windows but do not quite meet the size requirements. Would the door that leads to the outside patio/balcony allow it to pass the emergency egress codes?

You know how it goes when anyone says “can’t”. Listen, there’s always a way. Mask everything off on the outside or inside with quality blue tape and masking paper, clean the surface, sand, the surface, dust it off, apply a degreaser, get the surface. Nice and clean. Yes apply UV primer and paint or just paint. If it’s a single component, this will be in an aerosol can. Do not over. Apply less is more do not apply in direct sunlight. I’m going to try another independent mom ‘n’ pop -owned business, like yours, here in this valley. Between the first two, it’s like comparing apples with oranges.

I have the newer double-hung windows. After a couple of decades they became hard to move up/down. As you show I relubed the mechanism, with aspray silicone lube. I recommend people do as I did. Lightly run your finger on the spiral aluminum piece. You'll feel the sticky residue and dirt. Now, take a cloth, with rubbing alcohol, on it. Use that to clean the old lube/dirt off. Just run the cloth up/down a few times. Be careful to use a couple of fingers to hold the bottom in place (or You'll have to reinstall/rewind it). You'll be able to feel when the piece is cleaned. "Now", you can spray the silicone lube. Note: if your windows are difficult to remove, from the frame, it's because the "aluminum hinge pins are sticking". I had a couple break while fixing my windows. I live near the Wallside factory, went there and they gave me some replacements. I don't know about other companies, but Wallside uses two different length pins. Take one with you so you get the correct length.

Excellent tutorial. But the rear roller on mine only has one hole for the screw. I got some replacement rollers ( both have a screw at the bottom and threads for the top screw) and track from Anlin. Both replacement rollers appear to be identical. Any thoughts? Another question. The lower screw appears to be maxed out. The door sits way high to compensate for the collapse track. Screw is stuck. It was that way when we moved in. Can not turn it either way

The door is designed for the hinges to be on the outside. It is not backwards.

FYI WD stand die water displacement. It’s oil based. Oil and water don’t mix. So using WD40 purposely means to get water away from what you are spraying, as in metal.

Question what about the next door you lock the active side door & the second door handle don’t lock ???

Are rollers universal?

I’m probably going to go with Anlin and these guys’ company’s installers.
