Nintendo pricing strategy for remasters (and everything really) is actually very consistent. Their strategy is just pricing any product as high as they believe people will pay.
@@jonathonervin7845i am sure it will hit the profit margins. Just wait for it in the used market. Or maybe Nintendo MIGHT put it with a significant discount in the Nintendo eShop lol
It’s simple, RGT. The price point is based on how well they know the game will sell. Luigi’s mansion will outsell Metroid by double. Likely. So the lower price point for Metroid would incentivize more sells.
The price is probably correlated to the franchise, which Nintendo values Mario titles highly. They likely priced Metroid at $40 due to: 1.) Being a less popular franchise 2.) To get more people familiar with Metroid before Prime 4 releases (which will likely be a $70 game)
Les popular ? Maybe , less work tho ? I highly doubt the resources to upgrade Prime costed less then Mario v Donkey . TOK really had no business having a higher price . They just knew they could get away with it. I don't see anything about TOK that makes it cost more then the original.
@@butterworthboys4985 It's easy to sell out when retailers likely didn't order many copies. That's like saying "Metroid sold better than Zelda because it was always sold out." No... retailers order based on Nintendo projections and their own sales data of similar titles and they determined it wasn't worth buying as many copies. They restocked and now you can find it everywhere.
an interesting fact to note is that Luigi mansion dark moon on the 3ds was a part of the Nintendo select line, so it was cheaper than 40 towards the end.
SwitchForce does not have reason here. It’s simple economics and demand. You answered your question at the end of the video. Mario is a more popular and in-demand franchise. Nintendo is a business, and Mario can command a higher price point than Metroid ever could.
Other than that, keep your old games/consoles, stop buying remakes/remasters of retro triple AAA games (including the Nintendo ones) and instead, start buying indie games and AA games.
The logic is the strength of the brand for the franchise in question. Mario and Luigi are much more well known than Metroid, so they can charge more for a Mario remake and it will still sell more units than Metroid even if the Mario games are smaller in scale.
RGT85 Nintendo values there remakes based on the Nintendo character the game is related too. Metroid remake was more about cashing in on the newest entry for the series. So Zelda’s, will be pretty close to full price as they’ll cash in. That how it seems to look
You got it completely right, digital games should be cheaper period. Not to mention when the switch E-shop shuts down eventually you will lose all those games if you don't have them installed. That's a huge risk that I am not willing to take, I would rather buy physical and have to take the time to swap cartridges especially if the digital version is not significantly cheaper.
As far as I'm concerned, the golden era of Nintendo ended somewhere after the DS and 3DS. Switch entered the market at a time where solid state memory was cheap relative to N64 carts back in the day (and for the DS and 3DS), and yet they sold dummy carts that wouldn't play the games out of box, you'd have to download content. My N64, DS, and 3DS games just played when I turned the console on, something no longer universally true with the current gen systems.
Just looks like the pricing is based on how large the franchise is. When LM3 sold over 13M+ I’m sure it’s worth more to them. Shows how much Metroid Prime franchise is worth to them or in their hierarchy, it’s riskier so they charge less to sell a bit more.
That is why you never buy day one or pre-order. Wait for a sale. Usually best time to buy Nintendo games are on Black Friday. Nintendo pricing has been high for a long time.
Not defending the $60 price point, but the Luigi's Mansion 2 port not only needs to upscale the asset quality from 3DS to Switch quality, but the UI itself needs to be reworked to fit everything on one screen in a uncluttered fashion. It's not as simple as your average port. It's an issue that unfortunately dashes my hopes that Dillon's Rolling Western will ever get a remaster.
My thought is that they're basing the game not purely production price but on the brand, proven popularity, inflation since original release, and the fact that it's another generation buying it. If you have the original then the remake may have less meaning to you, buying it again may seem excessive sure. Buy if you don't this is new to you.
Nintendo is generally going to charge as much as they can. It's no secret. Every penny they can get out of you, they will. There's a reason they are the richest Japanese company.
Answer: Everything is more expensive now. And as far as Metroid Prime Remastered yes it was underpriced but I'm wondering they had it cheap cause they wanted everyone to have their hands on it to get ready for MP4
Unfortunately, these prices are consistent. Just not in the sense you want. From a marketing perspective, it’s expected with so few games coming in 2024. Nintendo’s just making the highest dollar per consumer they can before the switch 2.
You know what at this point I am willing to pay a little more money for a physical version of a game Then to be forced to only be able to play the game with digital download only.

I don't ever want to hear Nintendo fans complain about pricing. No one could tell me why Tears of the Kingdom was worth $10 more than Breath of the Wild other than the fact it makes Nintendo even more money.
I would imagine they set their prices based on analytics. Metroid is only going to sell so many copies, it has a more narrow fan base. Mario and friends have a much larger audience. Everyone knows Mario even if they are not into games. The process set because everyone is going to buy it regardless of the price.
Great Video RGT 85. I wonder if Nintendo scales their Pricing on how well the Game is gonna Sell. Metroid Prime in-general doesn't Sell well regardless of it being a Masterpiece, so 40 Bucks is a Bargain and a Zelda Collection is gonna Sell tremendously well, even at 70 Bucks.

The answer is no; I will not be upset or weirded out on Nintendo's pricing; because if the game you and I feel is the best in itself; who cares how expensive they are, as long as you and I enjoy it; it's all good.
Mario is bigger than Mickey. Kids are more familiar with Mario today than Disney's mouse and will bug their parents for the latest Nintendo Mario game regardless of the price. Nintendo knows this....
People just allow Nintendo do get away with anything. Crash 4 which was a full new game and literally the best in the series had people complaining about it's 40$ price point on Switch. But now they have a 50$ gba remastered game with nothing new in it and that's fine because it's from Nintendo.
Because Mario bros have a bigger following due to kids. Parents will buy it for their kids and adults will buy for themselves. Metroid Prime is not targeted at kids!
When the game comes out, we’ll see just how much effort was put into it. What type of final visual bump did it receive, was any music recomposed, were there any additional control configurations, new modes added in, etc. I’m looking forward to seeing how it has shaped up in the next presentation.
Nintendo will charge whatever price they think they can charge where people will buy the game. Imo, Luigi Mansion 2 didn't sell as much and they adjusted their prices for games that came afterwards, could be wrong.
I find Nintendo´s strategy interesting lately, seeing they are almost completely relying on remakes and remasters of games from older consoles to carry the Switch on it´s last couple of years. Makes you wonder what they will do with the next one, if the need arises, remaster Wii U games? Or will they copy Sony´s strategy to re-release the same games over and over again ?
Never really thought about this. Interesting to think about. I have always thought digital should be cheaper. But these companies don't like easy money left on the table.

The worst part about Nintendo is that they think they don't need to discount their games like PlayStation and Xbox. No offense to Nintendo, but you're not that great. You're not better than Sony or Microsoft!
Mario Vs Donkey Kong on GBA/Switch $30/50 Luigis Mansion 2 on 3DS/Switch $40/60 Seems fair to me...... Also, people need to stop thinking Metroid is a system seller. It's not.
