To your point, the live version of Ramblin Gamblin Man is better than this. the only thing better about this version is how much harder and stronger the drums come in on the intro.

Yup, the vocal delivery is just so much better. It's as if a few days after the original was released, he gave a listen, and went, "dag, should've done this different, and changed this like that..." Then went out on the road, and implemented those improvements.

My step Dad was a huge fan and played the album constantly. We were living in New Brunswick in 78 Dad and a buddy flew to Montreal to catch your show and he could barely speak for 3 days because he was so 🐎 from cheering. Stanger In Town is easily one of the MUST have albums of all time. Cheers brother.
You really need to listen to Let it Rock on his live album Live Bullet. I listened to it all the time as a kid riding in the car with my dad, a highlight of my childhood.
My best friend and I would go to the Avenue Bar at ages 16 &17 to drink a few beers. Bob the bartender never asked our ages. This song was on the juke box and we played it over and over. After 3 beers we were "loaded" and went to play basketball. 1969.what great memories!

I was born in 1975, so unfortunately I couldn’t be in the audience in the early days, but I was fortunate enough to see him 4 years ago and last year when he was on his final tour.
Bob started playing and singing at a young age (...just 13 when I had to leave home) therefore; had to gamble on himself and travel for his art and income. He was /is a real, sweet Midwest boy extraordinaire, not a party animal but, of our generation and, time. He is timeless national treasure. In 69, Bob was traveling all the time filling small venues and rocking the roofs off! Rambling on to the next and gambling his luck with the local ladies. Pretty good lyrics from a very young man back then. So glad you went back in his catalog. Check out 2 plus 2 and his cover of "if I were a carpenter" from his early days.
Graduated HS 1969 in Chicago, went to Detroit area for the summer to hang out with a friend. Got a job driving an ice cream truck and wow....this song hits the airwaves on WXYZ with Joel Sebastian and Dick Biondi. Everybody was like wow, who is this guy and this song.

Songs back in the days of am radio were kept under 3 minutes in order to get airplay. It wasn't until fm came about that longer songs got on the air.
The albums usually had longer songs, but they weren't released as singles. Then the late night FM
DJs just did what they wanted.

In 69, Bob was traveling all the time filling small venues and rocking the roofs off! Rambling on to the next and gambling his luck with the local ladies. Pretty good lyrics from a very young man back then. So glad you went back in his catalog. Check out 2 plus 2 and his cover of "if I were a carpenter" from his early days.

Seger was introduced to me in the early 70's by two friends in the Navy that grew up in Michigan and saw him in some small venues when he started!

Graduated HS 1969 in Chicago, went to Detroit area for the summer to hang out with a friend. Got a job driving an ice cream truck and wow....this song hits the airwaves on WXYZ with Joel Sebastian and Dick Biondi. Everybody was like wow, who is this guy and this song.
Thos song saved me back in high school in 1994. God bless classic rock.
