I did the tour a few years ago, how amazing it is for a company like this to allow a preserved railway access in this way, all credit to British Steel.
They used to do the same at BHP Port Kembla steel works using Bronze Wing ( steam loco ) & 2 old carriages. Sadly they stopped doing and all have gone to a rail museum. Used to be great going around by rail
Did a Guards van tour and a year later the Pacer Driving experience. Site Management were not too keen on taking pictures of the site itself. I'm pleased things appear to have changed for the better.
All tours are booked through ticket source. Check out www.ticketsource.co.uk/afrps All current the tours are full. They haven't yet listed the summer brake van dates.

I love all the old diesel locos hidden in dark corners. It's like some sort of refuge centre for locos hiding from the scrapman!

Great video. This location would be ideal for a preserved Class 60 if one should happen.

Why so much old rolling stock lying around the site?

MaK locos, bought from Norway for the Teesside steel plant. When Teesside closed the locos were transferred to Scunthorpe.
