How fun! 7:59. Are the three white "bars" hand-operated semaphores? Any level crossing signals on this track? Does "The Thing" cause the signals toperate? Thank you.
The three white bars are the backs of the three ground signals (though only two in use) that control the exit from the yard, they are operated from the signal box which has a 21 lever mechanical frame. They are painted white so the signalman can check that the ground signal has pulled correctly by looking out of the window. There are some ungated farm crossings, with no signals, trains whistle on approach.
I wonder if this railway will ever be dual gauge. If the Llangollen Railway keep extending their line further and further west they could easily link up at Bala and they share the BLR to go even further.
I can't see the Llangollen extending any further. The trackbed beyond Corwen East has been built over and there are missing bridges and embankments between Corwen and Bala Junc. The embankments were washed out in December 1964, this caused the early closure of that section of the line. Large parts of the formation are also missing west of Llanuwchllyn (road improvements).
@@flossiesheep They could always do a ‘Ffestiniog’ job and realign to a new trackbed in places. Is anything really beyond the capabilities of man and machine these days? It’s just cost that thwarts progress so much these days.
What an ingenious portable little turntable.

Love the red faded plastic seats Very BR !!
I would've liked to have seen the inside of the car, the engine and drive mechanism.
I loved it.

One of the level crossings is clearly visible at 5:54 in the video.

Is “The Thing” the train car or that hideous looking woman?
"The thing" is the trolley. No women in this video as far as I know.
What an awful comment, right or wrong. Shame on you.
