Portugal actually had colonies in different parts of Africa and mixed with people from those places for 300 years or so so it makes sense.

North African genetics would have came up most likely ended the test results. My uncle's family test results showed north Africa genes with his Spanish genes. Most likely Tyrone's genetics of a history going through the Caribbean. And genetically there is not really that much difference between the Portuguese and the Spanish were cousins.

@@zukoher If you know about the dutch slave trade you would know that apart from faring slaves across dutch slavers had little contact with slaves. It is not like with the Spanish or English who had plantations in the new world.
Dutch settlements in the Americas were in the north. Which was fur-trade. And had little to no use of slaves. Also, the slaves that were held by dutch were held in the Caribbean and in Suriname.
I wouldn't dismiss the possibility but also the likelihood of someone with Nigerian or ghanese slave ancestry ending up in the north with someone dutch is more like a post civil war possibility. It does make things interesting.

Hey Tyrone. I would also recommend doing a 23 and me test, they break things down as well and it can break down your maternal and paternal Dna journey. I found it helpful to do a few dna tests because each site gave me something different since they only compare with what dna they already have in their system

Portuguese, Spanish and even the damned Dutch(I joke) have sailed the seas for quite some time, with the portuguese kinda leading the way. It would not be strange that while they were trading and building stuff some "cultural exchange" to happen while traveling, also for a long time the Iberian Peninsula was a hot bed of wars and alliances between the Iberians and Africans. Especially with the Portuguese since they kinda went around the world sailing.

I was adopted and never learned anything about my birth family. My parents (who adopted me) were: Irish (Dad) and English (Mom). I always wondered what I was and, for some reason, never entertained the notion that I might also be Irish and English. I did an ancestry test a few years ago and it came back 50% English and 35% Irish.

Yo Tyrone! I know on my mothers side there is Cherokee Indian, and Jewish. However my father's side, my grandmother was from the islands...yet our family name comes from one of the slave masters apparently said from another relative. I have had many people over the years ask if I have any Asian because of my eyes. I also look very much like my grandmother. I really want to take one of these tests and see what the results are too! Without the specific haplogroup, you’ve been bamboozled I’m afraid Tyrone. I’m sure you know by now many people have different results with different companies. 23 and Me gives more accuracy by giving you the specific haplogroup your Y-DNA or X-DNA belongs to.

Because your family records and documents can go beyond that plus your blood. Blood don't go by a percentage. It is either you are indigenous Americas or Europeans that is it.
@@chiefkowishtoflemingindige9402 my family kept a good record of the family tree. Going back eight generations on my father's side and six on my side. Of course this is all oral tradition. But it's something that they kept. Keeping track of familial ties is big in Navajo culture.

I did the ancestry DNA test and being a UK white man I found out that I am 54% Scottish (not a surprise, because my grandmother is from Ayrshire and is still alive at the grand age of 93) and the rest is Irish and English and 7% Scandinavian.
My previous neighbour (I live in Oxfordshire) and very good friend (I now live in the very South of Oxfordshire) had some amazing results, her dad was from Jamaica and her mother is English - she has roots in various parts of Africa and India.
I managed to help her make contact with her father's family and she printed out a lot of documents and buried them at her father's grave. She also now has a lot of previously unknown and unseen photos of her direct ancestors.
She has a Scottish and Hispanic surname and I love the family more than life itself, they are my second family! ♥️
