I'm always a bit confused when people use haplogroups for assigning tribes. For example on my own I found out that my L1c1 is found amongst the Igbo. But I also see just now that it's found amongst Sierra Leonean ethnic groups as well. Are there any haplogroups which are unique to just one country or group in Africa?
@@mrhimselfalone7657 Yes, but not many. If she got a full mtDNA sequence through FamilyTreeDNA she would have matches all across Africa and probably the Middle East. The same goes for yDNA. Sadly, African Ancestry is a scam.

Sorry, I meant they don't try to assign tribes to haplogroups. .. Haplogroups L2b and L2c occur frequently on Mauritania, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Ghana (Rando et al. L2c is relatively common in Sierra Leone. But it's not only found there.

My maternal haplogroup is L1c1. Some Temne have that, but then I saw where some Igbo (Ibo) have it as well.
