“We’re from Spain”
“Ummm have you seen yourself bro?”
Lol I felt that. Black ppl are all over Latin America (and the world) and it is a beautiful thing to discover what your exact African heritage is!! 👑❤️
MiVidaBellisima the DR has a color issue and it is not cool there to spotlight African heritage. Just look how they treat their neighbors Haitians.
traveljunkie59 I’m aware of this, it’s really unfortunate. It’s common in a lot of Latinos. I think part is ignorance, not wanting to be called black because some don’t understand that all african Americans are black but not all black people are African American 🤷🏾♀️
MiVidaBellisima it’s the colonist’s mindset that lives on. Anything non European was considered less than. We now celebrate indigenous people being elected to political office when they have been subjected to harsh treatment because of their roots for years. We should all acknowledge our mixed heritage.
His ancestry is mostly European tho.
@@Zodamay hmm... I would say half, but maybe you're right.
Some Latinos with Afro ancestry deny their African roots because of colorism, discrimination etc.

"that colonised ideology, I woke from that bro" I felt proud at that
But the truth is that it is often the black Africans and the Arabs who did sale many Africans as slaves to the Europeans .
Emirie Bois yes that happened but transatlantic slavery was the of the worst kind and was traded by Europeans, but if u want to die on the hill of “AfRiCAnS also SOld BlACkS into slavery” it still absolutely absolves nothing that white colonization did to African continent as well as most others. But that was a cute try
@@brujitanoiresydr9687 it absolves nothing for both sides ! No double std please and selective memory please ?! It was actually the norms for Africans to sale others Africans ( enemies ) from another regions to Europeans. Of course , i do admit in this trade, Subsaharian Africa was the one which lost the most . But they did participe in this trade ! It is a part of truth that many people ( african descents ) do not know ! No need to be ashamed of it , just need to 'assume'it . Still now in some parts of Africa like in Mali a type of slavery is still occuring among Black africans and Arabs / berbers Africans .
BTW nothing to be proud or ashamed of something we have not done , just have to recognize it !

Caribeña Africana agreed. I believe he was saying white as in a lighter skin complexion.
He's not transparent. He's just jumping on the WOKE African American wagon. These type of Dominicans are the cringiest. It's an oxymoron to claim being proud of one's ancestry while ignoring half of one's DNA. Sorry, but we Dominicans can't erase or White, Black and Taino blood.

I think that it’s kind of cringe that you think it’s something wrong with him finding out about DNA that’s apart of him. I can go on but I still think this was overall a nice moment for him and everyone else.
The irony is Gadiel doesn't understand that Dominicans claimed independence from Haitian colonization. The colonizers were black in that case.
Lourdes Mendez you must be brand new to Gadiel. He isn’t on a woke African American wagon. He always spoke on being Afro Latino. Sound like you have an issue with him even acknowledging his African ancestry at all

Yes, those same spirits are with you as they were with those before you. Gracias Pero Like.
@You Mad? Correction: Latin was the language from which a lot of European languages evolved (Spanish, French, English, Portuguese). In today's world, we refer to people from Spanish speaking countries Latino/Latino/Latinx since Spanish is a romance language that's rooted in latin. You want to identify as European and that is fine & wonderful just realize that my post was not about you. I was addressing the Latinos/Latinas who were made to feel like accepting their African heritage made them less Latino/Latina. Educate yourself.
You Mad? A Rome is in Italy, Italy is in Europe, so your last comment makes absolutely no sense. Either way ppl from Spanish/ Portuguese speaking countries are called Latino/ Hispanic regardless of whether or not you accept it. And some of those ppl are Black, you not being black is irrelevant to this fact
@You Mad? Spreading lies?!! Clearly you just want to argue for argument's sake. The Latin language does derive from Europe but my post was not about Europe. You keep mentioning Italian for some reason because you must either love them or identify with them. Again, my post was referring to Latinos y Latinas who KNOW they have African heritage but were taught to hide that fact because of the racism that is rampant in the culture. Go to any US country to ask a few Italian-Americans if they refer to themselves as "Latinos o Latinas" then get back to me.
@You Mad? WHAT?!! You wrote Latin AMERICA... How does Rome, Italy (in Europe) fit in that? OMG!!! Stop, just stop. This is sad.
@You Mad? Like beating a dead horse... You have nothing valuable to add to the discussion. You just come off as bored and need someone to talk to but, I'm not the one. Move on.

Also africans that were enslaved on this land used the spirits of orisha and oya to escape slavery and rename the land HAITI in honor of the native tainos that named the land Haiti before the spanish renamed it santa Domingo hispaniola
Yes, correct. But remember that the Dominican people were on that island hundreds of years before the first Haitian ever set for there. Even the French wh the Haitians massacred and expelled were there before they were. At least two hundred years before the French formally gain control of of the Western third of the island, the entire place was Spanish Dominican.

Yeah. Also considering we’re ethnically made of different African clans/tribes so we’d be too many to even claim just one or two.
It was an active part of colonization and maintaining slaves in a slave state of mind. It can't be only whips and lashes, it needs to be a systematic break down of identity and sense of family support. She said english and french is an official African language.....Damm. European has the power to make their language official in your black country... but what European countries have officially Africans languages..... None.
I think it's just a convenience thing. Because a lot of countries in Africa have their borders defined by their former colonizers, the colonizer language is the only one the people there have in common, since before colonization that "country" did not really exist, and it overlaps the traditional land of multiple ethnic groups (who also live in neighboring countries a lot of the time).
You're speaking English on land that belongs to tribal nations with their own language too. In our case, colonizers did such a thorough job that most Americans don't even know the names of the tribal nations whose land they're on, let alone any of the language, even when there are still some speakers left. Countries throughout Africa, the Americas, Pacific Islands, Australia and parts of Asia speak French, English, Spanish, Portuguese, or Dutch because of the European invaders (a.k.a. "explorers" and "colonists"). Colonizers often impose their own language to control populations, whether English in Kenya, French (at one time) in Vietnam, or English in Ireland. As recently as the '70s Native American kids got punished in white-run religious schools for speaking their own language.
Look at some African maps by language to see which countries speak which African and colonial languages. It's interesting. Most Africans I have met speak at least one colonial language and at least one African one, depending on their country, ethnic group and level of education. They are well aware of the negative consequences of European colonialism, but they also embrace the colonial languages they speak too. They've made them their own.
@@Tracymmo You're probably right, but my school at least took an effort to educate us about the tribes who lived in our area pre-colonization. Unfortunately like most things that they teach in school I doubt most people remember it.
Also where I grew up many of the towns are still named after the tribes who lived there (Massapequa=Massapequas, Montauk=Montaukett, etc).
@JLT We use those languages mainly because we need to trade with other countries thus these languages make it easier to trade as they are widely used. Also most African countries have so many native languages that if we focus on ‘African languages’ we would never understand each other thus we picked one or two languages that all of us can know and learn so that it can unite us. For example Kenya we have two official languages :English (mainly for trade and other international activities) and Kiswahili for uniting all the 43 tribes with one language and also to unite us with our East African neighbors
African are some of the most multilingual people on the planet.

I don't know where you are getting from that our music is African? When you gear drums in Ghana I hear HAITI and JAMAICA not Hispanic countries..

@@ElNegringoKreyolito I never said that there is no African influenced, I am letting know to Haitians and blacks that before the slaves came to our island, we had music, drums, food, history, culture and in top of it, the Spanish came second and they mixed their blood, culture and music before the slaves came to our island.. the natives of the island are called Rain is not Africans and as matter of fact the real Dominicans are the mixture of natives and Spaniard(mestizos) not Africans.. you better get your facts straight, clown..!😂

Most dominicans are not from Cameroon, that DNA study is a scam. Most slaves that went to DR were coming from Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Guinea, Angola, Congo.
The test doesn't say most slaves came from Cameroon, just him as an individual. It's only a part of his ancestry anyway. He may as well have roots from Angola, Congo, Senegal or Nigeria also.
im Dominican!! I think African cultures are soo beautiful and I can't wait to find out about mine

After watching the other video of Gadiel and his dad and Afro-Latinos, I'm so happy thinking of him sharing this information with him!

@@catchmeifyoucan1095 Oh ok cool.
Yep and Sade is Yoruba
Sade Hill yea the Puerto Rican Yoruba connection is deep since most of our more than 500,000 african ancestors came from there and from the Congo as well. Hence the reason we still have those original spiritualities of those African ancestors in Puerto Rico and still speak Yoruba words there.
I’m Panamanian and Puerto Rican when I did this found some family members currently living in guinea. We’re Fulani people ☺️

I truly love my Afro-Latino. I’m not ashamed of it and I see it through my looks, my hair, and music passion
But why does Afro trump Latino? Why does it come first and then your Latin heritage comes second? Can't it be Latino-African? It's so weird. Imagine if you found out you had German DNA. Would you suddenly said I'm German Latino? You need to be proud of your German ancestry because you have a German ancestor from 200 years ago. Or would you say I'm Latino first. I was born and raised here and I have Latino DNA. But all of my culture is Latino. I am Latino first. That a distant relative came from Africa over a hundred years ago is second. I acknowledge it. It is a part of me but it is not all of me and certainly not the most important thing about me.
Ashamed???
Research should be conducted by people of African descent.
We have the greatest history of all ethnic people, the greatest empires and built the foundation of the world civilization. (The oldest)
The ancient Kemetics/Egyptians held blackness in high esteem, considering it divine and even attributing it to a black god deity.
I choose to align myself with my ancient ancestors responsible for constructing the pyramids and temples in Egypt.
Additionally, African Americans whose culture currently dominant and influential the world.
They are the creators of the empowering slogan "Black and I'm proud."
Love that Alexis is a cousin! I am also Igbo, on my Dad’s side, which makes a lot of sense as the Igbo tribe were shipped to Barbados, where my dad is from. But as Dr. Gina shared the Igbo culture to Alexis, I felt a sense of pride. My dad started several of his own businesses, and the fact that now I am hoping to start my own business (connecting to Africa, no less!) validates I am carrying on the legacy of my ancestors.
Collin Radix-Carter do you speak Igbo? If you do, Kedu! 👋🏻

All men are guilty of sin. Repentance means to turn away from your sin. For example, if you are a liar you stop lying. Repenting is not just saying sorry, it is saying sorry and not continuing to do that sin. Sin is what separates us from God. God sent his son Jesus to die for our sins. Meaning Jesus took the punishment for our sins on the cross. If we believe on Jesus our sins can be washed away, and God will remember them no more. If we reject the son of God and continue in sin we will be under Gods wrath(hell fire). Repent today and believe on Jesus Christ, and recieve the free gift of eternal life.
