Hey lads! A bit of a different video today! It's a long one. I got a new camera so as I mentioned in last week's video, I'll have some live action content for you guys once in a while!
I hope you guys enjoy a tour of my first completed sketchbook. Completing a sketchbook takes a while and can get frustrating when there's pages that you don't love, but it's worth it! This sketchbook helped me improve on so many things, I can't wait to show you guys my current sketchbook! There's a lot of stuff I'm genuinely proud of in it!

@@Duenschissdoktor Most of the time I draw realism and sometimes in an animated style , I’ve been drawing for 7 years going 8 😁 when I’m not sure what to draw , I make a long list of ideas and try combining them to see what I can come up with , if you happen to have an original character, you can draw them when you don’t know what to draw. Look at prompts like Inkober , 30 day drawing challenge , do a drawing of something within a in 1 minute , then 5 minutes , and 10 minutes , I hope this helps 😊

I know It's tempting to compare yourself to other artists but your journey and your art is unique to yourself and that's beautiful ❤️ Finding things from life that you love to draw and doing studies can really help with improvement! It's one of the things I've done to advance my work :3 Pinterest is really great for finding good art references! Feel free to reach out if you ever need advice about art resources or critique! 💕

Great job on half a sketchbook! Keep working at it. Also I understand if you start not liking your art. I hated mine for the longest time but I kept working on it and now I love my art. The important thing is to keep going!
in all of my sketchbooks, you can see the progression of "I'm only drawing wolves" to "I'm only drawing people", btw your sketchbook is fricken amazing Idk how you can make every page look gorgeous half of mine are just scribbles of shit
uGHHH I hardcore feel that 🤣 I used to ONLY draw wolves and anthros cause I couldn't draw faces and now I only draw people xD I kinda miss wolves tbh ❤️ and thank you so much! 😭 Honestly same, don't worry about scribbles and art you don't like, everyone has that in their sketchbooks even if you can't see it (I cover up so many mistakes with sticky notes and other pieces of paper) 😉

I used to draw only ponies and, once I got into the Warrior Cats only cats. But with time, I started developing my human style! And thought I stopped drawing ponies, I keep a good balance between cats and humans!
Now this is a very unnecessary comment, but try keeping a balance between drawing all the things you love! If you love drawing humans, great! But don't think they are the only valuable ones. If you love drawing wolves, go for it! It's never too good to tie yourself to just one "theme"! Draw whatever you enjoy, and balance between different species and stuff-

I love how you have a defined style in everything you draw, even based on real life people. I always default to really realistic when I am going off that kind of reference.
Thank you so much! That's really encouraging because I don't really see much of a consistent style throughout my art, but that just goes to show you that others can see our art styles developing even when we can't!
When I leave my house for one week I come home to my sister making a mess of my watercolor and puting glue on my paint brush. I can't trust anyone in my house.

Wen I first started drawing people I pretty much only drew dudes because they were easier to draw but once I got better at people that completely flip flipped xD

on a whim, i bought some acrylic paint and a sketch book at 31. Just painted an alien city landscape with two suns and all. I LOVE PAINTING as it turns out. Hoping to finish my sketchbook, no matter how much I suck at art. :)

This is definitely NOT my first sketchbook ever, I'm sorry if I didn't make that clear! This is just the first sketchbook I ever made a point to fill to completion!
I have t o n s of other half finished/mostly empty sketchbooks filled with trash art, scribbles, and torn pages. I just actually put effort into this one xD

I mainly sketch with super cheap art supplies. My favorites are mechanical pencils and ballpoint pens ( my fav pens are injoys), any brand of highlighters for a pop of color, water based markers since they don't bleed through your pages (such as Crayola's slim markers), and any simple watercolor palette (I use a cheap one from artistgrove). Post it notes also come in handy for covering up mistakes! 😀

I’m 12, and I only have a few pages left to complete my sketchbook. Problem is, I have so much in it already that I am procrastinating the last few pages, not wanting to let it go. Here I am instead, watching these amazing sketchbook tours. :/
Take your time! Starting a new sketchbook can be just as fun as finishing an old one!

Darling, I've been drawing since I was three, I've been through a Magnet program for art from 5th grade through 12th grade. I am now 39 years old. I have never ever completed a sketchbook. BUT NOT THIS TIME, 2020. I am determined to finish this new sketchbook after being on a drawing hiatus for 5 years (I had a kid...he's very needy...I love him anyway). I am halfway through this sketchbook (it's only 40 pages, let me live), and in between working full time in a non-art field, and going to school for a second (third?) degree in a non-art field, I'm doing my best LOL. Yes, I drew my pfp.

I 100% agree with the whole, school kills my art schedule thing. I have to go to classes and work during the week then every Fri, Sat, Sun I have to turn in all the work for my classes. I barely have time to sleep much less do art. Hope we can all graduate swiftly and get on to Art ✌

Dudddee, I used to be the exact same way! I think a lot of it is just getting over the pressure of working in a sketchbook! ^ ^ I'd recommend taping some drawings you like in your sketchbook so you feel a bit less intimidated! I do this all the time when there's a page that I don't like and it definitely keeps me motivated to draw in my sketchbook!
At 19 I did not have nice sketchbook spreads or good a bodies. I hope I can find all my old ones. But great book and it was nice to hear your thoughts on each thing in it 😊❤

I'm by no means at a professional level so I hope you advance by leaps and bounds beyond me! Comics are really hard and most people I see who have started webcomics say you just have to start it when you feel decently comfortable and not worry so much about the art itself since it will improve over time :3
@@PricklyAlpaca No, no your art is so appealing to look at and I think that is payed forward by your significant artistic style. Whereas with me I'm trying to make a "stand out style" all the while having a hella hard time draw the second eye properly. (I know at some point of an artists' life they just threw hair over that mess.) But yes, thank you for your kind words and hopefully by this time next year I'll be good enough to attempt to make a semi decent character panel. Too bad youtube won't let you post your art in comments, I'd at least give you an example!

Style comes naturally over time, I'm kinda just now finding a style that I'm comfortable with! It'll happen! Just keep working on it and studying and you'll see improvement before you know it!
the difference between office and sketch paper: I wonder if you subconsciously put pressure on yourself when drawing into your sketchbook, compared to drawing on office paper. Something along the lines of: "this paper is more precious, so it needs to be something really good and I can't mess up." It's something I sometimes still do. Also, it's easier to misplace office paper, when the sketch doesn't turn out right. XD But the more comfortable you get with your mistakes, working with them, rather than against them, the better it will get. You're doing great so far.

my friend LOVES to draw wolves, (shes in eighth grade, going into 9th), but they're like her FAVORITE animal, & shes so talented at drawing them, she draws humans & demons, which she is also AMAZING at drawing too.
