As a puppet builder, I'll tell you Halloween might be a great time to start trying to make articulated-face puppets, because Michaels and other stores have a lot of animal skeleton props around. You can pattern faces by using masking tape to build a pattern, much like you would with cling film and duct tape to make cosplay costume patterns. Adam Kreutinger has some great tutorials online about puppet pattern making.
At least there wasn't an overwhelming outcry for a Momo corset or something.

For the ever impatient like myself I'd recommend getting fabric hot glue, works the exact same, but because it's meant for fabrics, it dries flexible so you can still use it for projects like this without sacrificing your posing

I like this idea! But I think the only kingdom technically is the Earth Kingdom. The waterbenders are tribes, the fire benders are a nation, and the earth benders are like buddhist monasteries

It's ok Kira, Jim Henson checked a book out of the library to make puppets and become a puppeteer because he wanted to work in television. And look where he ended up! I have full faith you can learn to make puppets too!

You can use chalk pastels and a toothbrush instead of an airbrush to colour the fake fur

For anybody wanting to learn needle felting for free...
Evan and katelyn just recently in the last year or so started doing needle felting. Both of them are 100% new to it and they both were super nervous at first ( which is so relatable ) but by the end of the 1st live stream they did ( shorter versions available on their first channel too ) they both felt confident enough to try different versions of felting. The full versions with step-by-step process is on their second RUclips channel ( evan and katelyn 2 ) so if any of you ever have the time to watch it I would suggest watching. It made me personally feel way less nervous and more confident to try it myself by watching beginners instead of watching the others who have been doing it for years. They even give links for the products they used to do each project in their description box. Most items are from Amazon so they should be available still but not at a steep price like custom stuff can get. Happy crafting everyone!❤

I saw the sifaka lemur, and my heart instantly melted!! I think their so cute in the basically-baby-sized-human-with-adult-human-proportions way. Plus, my special interest came from my love of Zabumafu, so we love a sifaka in this house!

Adam of North of the Border RUclips channel is an excellent sculptor and talks his way through his process. You would find lots of tips there. The face you have sculpted is pretty darn cute!

I've been dyyyyying to learn needle-felting and seeing as I plan to cosplay Sokka sooner than later (as soon as the top of my hair grows out so I can shave off the bottom of it LOL), I feel like making my own little Momo would be a good first project. I've definitely seen that eye technique before. I was also thinking you could use resin.
I took a Primate Conservation class in undergrad and actually did my final paper on Coqueral's Sifaka lemurs. My prof has a French accent so he pronounced it like "Shi-fak(a)". I do think that was a great species to model Momo's face after, great choice!
At the point when you were working on the clay face-sculpt around 8min, he was definitely looking pretty Sphynx cat-esque 😂

Great work on this little guy! As demonstrated by a certain adaptation of this show, it's easy to fall into the uncanny valley when translating a cute, animated animal to another medium which you very neatly dodged!

I'm really curious about powdered paint (or powdered colors in general) for the fur instead of air brushing. I've never worked with it, or faux fur, so I genuinely have zero clue if it would be better or worse XD but momo looks super cute!!
I have a question and it’s that if we can use original sculpey oven-bake clay or do we have to use polyform super sculpey firm gray?

Fun fact: you can always scrape paint off of glass. So if you’re painting a face with an airbrush in the future, you can take a needle and scratch off the paint afterwards 🙃
Also, if I recall correctly, isopropyl alcohol can help to soften airbrushing on faux fur so that the fur doesn’t become crusty. I think a fine soft brush, like a toothbrush, is what Kaypee used, but it’s been a while since she mentioned it in a video so I don’t remember 🙈

sounds like you have a brownie in your house and they took the nozzle cuz you keeping too much of a mess. They love cleaning so if ya want your nozzle back, maybe feed them some honey and do a bit of spring cleaning =) 💕 💕

4:40 for anyone interested the glass dome sculptors use for the eyes are called “glass cabochons” and I believe can be bought at any local craft store and Amazon sells large packs for cheap. They’re fully circular and have a flat bottom so overly round surfaces might pose an issue
