I love it so much, I bought 4 of them. Got them while they were half price. The UI is easy. Just go through the modes a few times after reading the instructions and you'll be a pro. Very nice and bright flood light. 👍🏻
Looks like a great light, but sometimes too many features is just that, too many features. Thanks for the video Tim, well done as always. Be well my friend.
Great review Tim. Definitely a well built cool looking light but I agree with you, I only want the mode changing when I decide to change it not by accident. Thanks Brother! 🐐
Hi, new subscriber here! 🙂 I just wanted to say that Sofirn must had heard critiques about the quirky method of switching between group modes. I bought an SC28 back in June and it seems that the current batches no longer use the 5-second programmable UI. I don't know which is worse, but with the 2024 batch Sofirn included a tiny mechanical sliding switch on the main circuit board. I have to unscrew the head and use the tip of a pencil or a toothpick to physically slide the micro switch to choose between the Normal and Tactical Group positions. So far I haven't watched any review of the SC28 with this odd feature and it seems that reviewers either get the newer SC29 model (with the side switch) or the older version with the 5-second programmable UI. Personally, I dislike the revised version. I've never encountered a Wurkkos or a Sofirn model with a micro switch in the head. Sofirn saw no other alternative since the SC28 is supposed to be operated by only the tail switch, so it implemented this really clunky method of changing between modes. I'd wager that many early adopters of the SC28 had complained it was nearly impossible to turn the light on and off within 0.4 seconds, therefore the software means of switching group modes was no longer viable. This probably also explains why the 2024 edition SC28's retail price is cheaper than that of the SC29. Ironically, both models have the same SST40 LED housed in the segmented TIR lens but the SC29 is rated at 3000 lumens, while the SC28 gets a 2800 lumen rating. I felt like returning my SC28 within the first week of owning it but I have decided to keep it and just use it as a general purpose flashlight in the "Normal" mode.
Interesting light. I think the modes would make me mad as well if they didnt stay put. Sofrin does make a decent light though, I have a couple from them.
Hello Tim, have you ever tried Fenix Flashlight? Here in Chile, is the number one brand of flashlight. I test several and are real great. Best regards from Chile 🇨🇱
Thank you for this review! I've got it since this Christmas : love it ! Extremely powerful ! I'm not a big fan of the different modes though :-/ Anyway, I wanted to say to those who will read my message : when you're not using it for meaningful use cases but for fun or tests, don't flood trees and other habited environment. If you can get blind with it, other species can too (birds, insects, small and medium sizes animals). If you get another animal blind, he'll probably die rapidly in nature environment Don't put it in the front of the eyes of your animals too (dogs, cats..) Thanks for reading, and like it was said : do good ! ;)
