    That lagoon may not have a problem now, but I think it is only a matter of time. If the issue was mistakes during the build process, where some were not built correctly, having issues, that would be one thing. But boats just like it are fine, and at some point, they break. Until they break, they look fine.

    'Checked out by a Lagoon rep"
    Oh well that would put my mind at ease. The bulkheads and the workmanship on those cats is appalling, I can't believe they passed the survey. They didn't even tab the fillets with glass to the bulkheads or anywhere else. Just a huge splodge of glue with no glass, in which world is that acceptable?
    The only way you'd buy one is if it was dirt cheap and you're prepared to sort the mess out. A thousand 45's were built, so far over 200 have bulkhead problems. I'd guarantee most haven't even been checked, especially charter industry boats

     @Barefoot Travels Are your business friends foreigners? I understand you. Foreigners who live in the DR should be careful of what they say. I have seen authorities deporting and confiscating foreigner's houses and property with made up trumped-up charges. The DR is a very nationalist country and big brother rules. The corruption is bad. Just to get in to port, some authorities want money for doing their services. Truly, I am afraid of the police and their corrupt ways. Regarding yachting, the DR is expensive. Marine world have some water problems, but the place is safe for the well-to-do crowd. However, for the price, I rather keep my boat in Florida. Sadly, there are only 4 marinas in the DR for foreigners. Puerto plata, Samana,Punta cana and Santo Domingo. ALL are expensive for American standards. Sadly, all the mentioned marinas are often empty, but that did not stop them from raising their prices? Terrible service, water, Wi-Fi, power. Why in the world would anyone will stay? Dominican Republic is a natural beautiful place. But there are so many other choices in the Caribbean. The issue with the DR is their racist views to others. I am white Latino and speak German. In most occasions, the locals are not aware of my Castellano fluency. I have with my own ears heard their hate for me and my companions. Also, It is so sad to hear how they treat the Haitians. Breaks my heart. To me, both the Dominicans and Haitians are very much the same? The last straw was when they started building the wall. The DR government are using the Haitians as their escape goat of the country's social economic problems. History is repeating itself? I wonder if the same government will prevent Dominicans from illegally migrating to other countries such as the US, Canada,Mexico, and the Puerto Rican territories? What a hypocrite government and people. For me, this is reason alone to boycott a country from my US dollars. As long as you are white, the locals will love you when they around you. Thirty years of visiting the DR and hardly nothing changes. But what is most visible is the rich getting richer and the poor getting worst.

    Luperon is a terrible place. Locals will steal from you at any chance they get. The people in charge of keeping things secure are also in it. It happened to me and has happened to many people I know, do not trust that place. Good it and read it for your self. YOU WILL GET Your VALUABLE STOLEN. Also, Puerto Plata's marine world is a terrible place to get your boat repair. They will not stand to guarantee the work. Good luck on filing a complaint about the terrible quality. NOBODY CARES AT THAT LOCATION. This is the Dominican way. Take advantage of the Gringo IS THE WAY OF LIFE. If you lived there like I have, you know is true. Most of the employees are not very skilled and do not care for the work because they get peanuts for salary. That is why they skilled workers move on to something else. I have been there and have seen their work. Marine world looks ok from the outside. However, it is run TERRIBLY. I work on my boat and have come to understand how some boatyards work. They are a business to make money. In the DR, there are no rules. They know, that most likely will not return due to the way the system work there. Guatemala rio dulce is a much better and CHEAPER location to keep your boat during the hurricane season. The labor quality is significantly better in the numerous locations in that site.

    • @georgesanchez9971
      @georgesanchez9971 2 года назад

      Forgot to mention. If you get your boat survey, where would you file a lawsuit or get some money back due to unprofessional survey. Like most Latin America, you are on your own when you buy a boat in that section of the world. I am fluent in Spanish, and locals still try to defraud me at every chance they get. As a Latino, sad but true.
