The twenties are coming back in less than a month and i want to dance that in the 20s😂
ME TOOOOOOOOOO
Ah, yes. When everyone thought 2020 was going to be a good year.
@@hithere911 fck😂😂
What if after the corona virus everythings good like the "Roaring Twenties"
No ya don’t. 😕
Idk how I ended up here but I regret nothing
Julian Fuentes same haha
Julian Fuentes lol
I know exactly how I ended up here. I looked up how to do the Charleston. I'm not sure which is a worse harbinger of RUclips addiction :/
It’s not the worst place to be. As it is this video was quite informative.
Same lol
why does it look so easy but seems so impossible when you actually try it
it's not impossible, just takes a fair bit of practice
Something that helped me when learning was in the front touch instead of touching we kicked out which gave u a smoother motion
just go slow and keep practice
If you think dancing is hard try animating it hahahaha
@@21stcenturyninja64 animating dance is easy, you do what disney did and draw your characters over videos of people dancing
I have been wanting to learn this dance for literally years since learning about the 20s as a teen. I was so excited when I found Aaron1912's video but quickly lost hope when it proved way too complicated. For years I always felt frustrated when I'd hear swing dancers tell me it was soooo easy and I once even scoffed when I read once that the dance was so easy that the flappers had it down in no time. Then I discovered this video.... about a month later of practicing and I finally have it down! I could cry I'm so happy! 😅 Thank you so much!
I'm so glad to hear this. I only found this vid today, but it the best lesson I have found yet... hopefully I can master it within a month of practice. It is SO hard for me right now.
Lel the same goes to me. I lost interest after i finished college. After 9 years, i'm back and started learning electro swinging for reals.
These comments make us so happy! 🥰
I learned how to count to 8. That’s about it. You make it look so easy... nice!
Don't know why I'm here, at One and a half in the mornin'
Or how I got to this point
Lemme just say that,
_Boy, oh golly, aw gee!_ Do I love that Charleston.
And now, for whatever reason, I now know it. Thanks, RUclips recommendations!
Devil Darlin' it's 1:34am send help pls
Aha one and a half in the morning, best way I've seen of says half one in the morning.
I lived in Charleston for 11 years that's why I'm here, no interest in the dance whatsoever. 😂
for me it was 1:15am
it's 1:23am for me. xD
This is a great how-to. I particularly appreciate that you show the steps from both the front and back - I'm awful at matching visuals to how my feet actually move, so the extra perspectives are a great help!
It will take me years to master the Charleston, even though you make it look so easy. I seem to have been born with 2 left feet so I can't as easily coordinate my steps, however out of all the videos I watched, your video is most informative and comprehensive.
You're not alone.
I seem to not ONLY be the unprivileged OWNER of "2-LEFT FEET, " but I've also got 'em dangling from these 2 left-LEGS, as well! ;-P
I do hope you are being sarcastic! This is just about the easiest dance ever made!
susan payer It's not easy for everyone; I also have a hard time doing it correctly.
I used to worry about having two left feet as well but when I learned that men lead with their left, having two of them opened up an amazing world of dance possibilities!
It looks like she's dancing in another language 😂
wild fleur walnut sause
She’s dancing in cursive
You look SO elegant doing these steps Sharon. With your help I finally got my head and feet around the basic steps, (although I look more like Charlie Chaplin, with my short stout legs). Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou for this lesson :)
To JazzMADLondon: An old ankle injury has rather slowed me down, but somehow someway I'm going
to learn The Charleston. And I'm beginning with this video. Thank you, THANK YOU!
AHHH ITS 8 AT NIGHT AND I LEARNED HOW TO DO IT!!!!
Keldawott ! It's 10pm and I just learned! A friend told me abt a class and I had to hop online so I can get some stuff down and this looked way too fun!
HOW.
It’s been 3 days. I wanted to learn it before my 20s themed New Years party. I still don’t get it 😂
When is 8 at Night?
For me, this can either be in the morning or evening...
i hope you still can :)
Excellent video without no extra gimmicks. Easiest way to learn the steps. Thank you!!!
Here’s what I learned( it may be wrong): When you pick up your feet, turn them in. When you put them down to do the taps turn them out. I respect whoever can manage to do this. If this doesn’t help I suggest watching her feet and looking at when she does the twists
Keep The Charleston Alive & Kicking!!!
WOW, she is beautiful !
I love the 1920s and old dances and music! Hopefully that stuff will be kept alive in the near future
Thanks so much! I'm doing a theatre play on the roaring 20's, and was cast as a flapper girl, and after weeks of practice I can finally do it!
That's brilliant, go Rose!
@@JazzMAD Thanks so much! All thanks to you though!
Lucky you!
Sweet Jiminy Crickets, you're making this look so easy, it's impressive.
I want those shoes
Me too!!!
Sherry Salzman My Cousin got one. Gladly she doesn't like em and tossed them in the Trash. Too much glitter
Oh my god- Thank you so much for making this look so effortless! This is the one instruction video that hasn’t completely scared me away yet. I’m gonna be doing the Charleston across my bucket list in no time!
This makes me with I was born in the 1900s...
Any decade would be cool to live in.
we're all gonna have to re-learn this now that it's the 20s again lol (who else forgot it from last time)
Great video!! I watched SO many videos trying to learn the Charleston, and this is the only one that worked! I love how she breaks it down into separate components, which is exactly what I needed to figure out the foot twists!
Thank you so much for uploading this!! You helped me a lot understand how the Charleston dance is!! You've been very great and helpful! Great dancing! :-)
Great teaching Sharon! I too love the shoes. I had a pair like this when i was a kid !! they were tap shoes. :P .
You also have a lovely voice to listen to on the tutorial.
She’s an excellent teacher when it comes to breaking down the dance moves!
absolutely beautiful! she looks like an angel dancing in the heavens
Thanks! I'm doing a 1920's themed project for my school and this will defiantly help!
What a great video . My mum used to do this years ago and just amazed me as a child ,
That was really good teaching thank you so much for that and I can’t wait to look at more videos
Thank you so much! This is amazing! I watched this and then got up and in literally seconds I was able to do it 😁
They taught us this in dance class in high school. I showed it to my grandma who loved it! :)
Thank you. Broken down in slow motion is EXACTLY what I need...
The fact that this she is doing this in high heals astounds and impresses me to no end!
thankyou Sharon ! your lesson makes charleston look very easy to dance !
What a shoes! Can't take my eyes off it! Thank you for the post - learning now.
I learned this back when I was a kid in HS but didn't know the name of it. I took dance in college but HS was where I learned all the ballroom and trendy dances. Somebodies parents were ballroom dancers and they came in and taught every term on the extra empty school days where they had to stay open to get money from the state, but all classwork was done so it was the last 2 days before Christmas and before summer and they broke days up with board games, movies, dancing, for people who didn't skip school of course. Then theater class they came in too, for Bernice Bobs her Hair and you had fewer partners to choose from. I remember square dancing too, that was a month each year of middle school and they played a couple of records calling out what to do. "Now the two head ladies cross over, across from the opposite side, two side ladies cross over, all join hands. All into the circle and from in the circle back out, swing your corner partner and promenade the hall."
Thanks for the show.
Finally starting to get the hang of it but it took me quite a while for it to click in my head pfjeww
Love the tutorial very clear and helpful!
The best online video of any dancing instruction I've seen so far!
absolutly perfect video thank's
It looks so easy when you do it and I wanted to dance the Charleston so badly (also because I love electro swing) but no matter how often I tried I failed miserably.
I had it down pat the first time. Great tutorial and ofc you do it brilliantly
i actually learned how to charleston for this thank you so much!!!!
Thanks for making this video, I will finnaly be able to dance the Charlestown, this will make it sick much easier to dance at all! I still fall over a lot, but, hehe, it'll take a while.
I've been practicing on and off for a week or two and am slowly getting.
I always wanted to know how to do the Charleston thanks miss excellent video
Thank you so much for sharing this!
My grandma would do this when I was a little girl and I thought was just awesome.
Wow you're good at this. Looks super cool!
Thank you! I was able to learn this in only a half hour!
Wow!!! This amazing. Edm people call this cutting shapes now. I love the Charleston!!!!!
Well done!
Thank you.
Trying to learn how to shuffle and this is where I ended up. Saving the video!
this dance seems so timeless snd energetic and fun.. i love it but my knees would be shattered 🥲
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS I'M SO UNCOORDINATED BUT I CAN ACTUALLY DO THE CHARLESTON NOW !!!!!!
Amazing! You make it look so easy, but luckily the 20's are coming around again. I promise I will figure this out, 1-2-3-4-5-6-7!!
I love it. I learnt it from you :). Very good video :)
Fabulous!
So USEFUL!
Thanks.
One more day of 2019 to practice! Hoping I can figure out the swivel before then.......
Once again I wish I lived anywhere else but here...I'd kill to be able to attend your dance classes. I totally appreciate the rear view of the moves because that's the only way I can follow and learn. Brain injuries suck.
Oh my😂 I didn’t know this was a dance step by the 20’s! I just stumbled here after watching how to do the hustle. Lol I do this while flapping my arms aimlessly and I’d call it the “puppet dance” or something like a doll roleplayed to dance haha
More teachers like this one please ;) I teach ballroom and latin and I can say you're great!
This was an excellent tutorial!!!
I'm IN LOOOVE with your heels 😍😍😍
Those shoes are EXACTLY the style I've been looking for for my wedding. I really wish I knew where to get them.
Lindsey Pindsey they are Swingz Lindy Shoes (www.swingzlindyshoes.com)

Easy and amazing 😉
Excellent.
The arms and hands are so fluid
Lovely!
FOR ME ITS THE MOST HELPFUL ONE
Lol..that reminds me of my mother ..but she did it with a little more umpth in her step ...👌👍
I decided on a whim to learn this lively dance at midnight. After studying this video for 2 hours, I believe I’ve mastered it!
Yeah, go Elizabeth! That’s awesome
I have to learn this for school
Thank you!
YOU'RE SO GORGEOUS!
Beautiful elegant and fun!
excelente como en mis tiempos..
my acting studio is doing a more basic version but some people there knows how to actually do it and it looks really cool (im supposed to B practicing lines rn but here i am XD)
LOVE THIS..
i could watch this lady dance like this all day !! beutiful
I used to be pretty good with this. My grandmother taught me. As an adult, I am entirely uncoordinated now 😅😅
Splendid! And how pretty too!
she makes it look so easy
We're reading the Great Gatsby and doing the Charleston was extra credit. I feel so akward
I almost wish I didn't take martial arts- almost impossible for me to get over the habit of aligning my heels with those kicks at 1:16.
It should actually help you. Martial art should teach you to use your body more effectually
@@proteus371 It should yes, but that's not exactly how it seems for me. With MMA, you aren't really based on timing, it's what's coming at you. I guess it's a little more reflectual.. You are always timing your movements off of what other people do, not yourself. So it is a bit more difficult to move four different limbs all at once, lol. MMA, is one movement at a time, the Charleston is a bit different.
I do martial arts too, but I'm also a drummer, so I guess I don't have the same problem (I'm plenty used to using all four limbs at once). I see your point though.
I do martial arts too and i can't seem to do that part
I’m going up on stage soon at wood vile
You look brilliant it’s a fascinating dance
thank you so much!!!!
I'm here because my mom really wants to learn it
And because it's 2am quarantine
Thanks.....muchísimas Gracias!
