I had a friend who had to go to Wynorski's studio on an errand. He had met Jim when while working for Corman. Jim pulls him into an editing room and says - Roger's losing a few steps, look at this! Its a bunch of topless women standing knee-deep in a stream. The dialogue is something like "we have to apply our anti-radiation screen before we continue." They then proceed to smear chocolate sauce all over themselves. Jim turns to my friend with a huge grin and says - "That's how you get production value!".

I thought Jim Wynorski was a porn director, but I guess he just did Russ Meyer type movies. He apparently has a reputation for making movies in a week or less. There's a movie called Popatopolis about him making a movie in 3 days.

@@nitrokid Nope. Faun are half goat and man. Satyr were half horse and man but not like a centaur that had the full lower half of a horse. As time passed the Satyrs were depicted as more human than bestial and then they got conflated with the pans and started becoming more goat like.
Satyrs, fauns and pans are all the same thing now.

What Sorceress at least did is remind me to rewatch Sorcerer (1977) which is a genuinely great film. Can recommend. Not as many bewbs and guys in fur loincloths though.
That robe flourish when the baddie came back from the House of the Dragon reminded me of Michael Palin in the Spanish Inquisition.

Jim Wynorski is also the director of this major motion picture. He is the perfect Corman sidekick and has worked his magic with Corman numerous times. Wynorski has a pretty good resume and has turned garbage into cash many times for a long time. You could probably spend the next year or show showing his films, however some of them are basically porn. I'm pretty sure if you look at his Directorial IMDB credits you have seen a few or at least heard of a few that he has done.
Wynorski wrote Sorceress, Jack Hill was the director (and co-writer).

The score is by James Horner (VERY eary in his legendary career) and was originally written for a different B-movie called Battle Beyond the Stars. It was recycled for a lot of these schlock movies. Also reused were scenes from this movie in a schlock high fantasy movie called Wizards of the Lost Kingdom (HIGHLY recommend), which also reused the James Horner score. It's all part of the Roger Corman cinematic universe.

Look at how samurai fired the yumi bow. It's a very high draw, lowering to eye level upon release. Her technique is poor but not as terrible as it looks. I love you guys!
I think this was one of the top three ever for me, I watched the whole movie 10 minutes after watching the video.
I actually saw this movie in the theater when it was released. Yeah, I’m old. I remember some scenes being so dark that you couldn’t see anything. I saw a lot of crap back then and I enjoyed every minute of it.
My favourite line up of suspects. They all look guilty.
James Horner did this score for Battle Beyond the Stars. Corman loved it cause Horner went on to bigger and better so he loved reusing alot of that score in other movies!

I thought I recognised some scenes from this movie. Corman reused them in another Sword & Sorcery film, Wizards of the Lost Kingdom. The sequel - that doesn't feel like a sequel - stars none other than David Carradine as one of the main characters, and his outfit is the same one from The Warrior & The Sorceress (aka. Quadraboob).
Its called a Fawn, or Satyr.

I have seen that bit with the farmers fighting the soldiers with the nunchuks in a few different bad movies. I think they just pull out bits of these movies that are generic action and put it in other movies to pad time. Amazing.

I saw this in a theater when it came out, was pretty much the target demographic -- give teen boys in the early 80's a so-so action film with bewbs and we're happy. Instead we agreed the overall terribleness somehow managed to cancel out the nudity.

Apparently there are at least 12 Corman-produced Sword and Sorcery movies. I can't wait for you to get to the Deathstalker films so you can meet the magnificent Monique Gabrielle in Deathstalker 2. Her acting is superb.
And once you meet Monique, I suggest you watch Evil Toons (not Sword & Sorcery), which has a very, VERY interesting part for David Carradine. Evil Toons is a MUST WATCH for you guys just for the small part Carradine has (he doesn't hang around long)... and for Monique's bewbs.

i 100% heard some star trek music in some of those battle scenes and this came out the same year as wrath of khan so i bet roger corman paid james horner for his test music from that.

That would have made ...lol thousands. And atleast three follow up movies. And the awkward force gratuitous twin skin sin scenes. B movie legendary gold. The sounds made by the four combine. Urrrrrr! I have some titles you don’t seem to have hit yet: Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death; Circuitry Man (and sequel); Cyborg (and sequel). While I’d say Species is actually good, its sequels are closer to this level of production.
