I have to admit that I like the early-80s comic book style of the artwork.

At least the artwork looks cool on these cards, kinda odd they didn’t see a release in the U.S. though.

I think most of us have hunted for a collectible and gotten... stuck with a fake.

The very first thing i think of now about " Argentina" ..... STICKERS !
Also... R the fakes worth anything though still? $5
Id still want the fake set, albeit at $20 total

Right now Ebay has a half dozen of these (no r2's or b-wings) that are averaging $60 or more on "buy it now".
The backs show the Autofix watermark on all but one...except some have multiple peel-away panels.
My only guess is the r2 and the b-wing might be ultra rare and command hundreds of dollars in some previously unknown niche to Americans.

This was unreasonably interesting for a low-stake case.
The sniff test is important. It's like a wax museum. Some statues nail it, others, you can't place it but something isn't right.
The lengths people go for this is fascinating. Buying old bottles or paper or canvas from decades or 100s of years ago, all for a trick.

I've been wary about Star Wars vintage repros these days. I also collected coins and currency, and I've heard many collectors search only for certified collectibles. There are too many fakes out there.

I bought a pack of fake 1977 Star Wars cards already. Blue border cards were in the pack numbered 1 to 9 and matched the first nine cards, Flipped them over and it was a nine piece puzzle of Daffy Duck. I paid like $10 for it at a Farmers Market. The oriental guy kept saying 'last one!" My neighbor thought they were funny and bought them off of me for $20 so I at least didn't feel ripped off. I told him they were fakes. They had OPee Chee on them instead of Topps, so they'd make you second guess that they might be Canadian, except I have Canadian SW cards and they got English and French on all the words. Either way, My neighbor was a Looney Tunes fan. Where they are now, who knows, they moved out of state like decades ago. As far as stickers, the most common fake stickers I ever seen were in New York cheapy shops. Return Of The Jedi puffy stickers that didn't always have the right character colors and Garbage Pail Kids stickers that were a centimeter bigger than the regular sized ones. .

Would have loved to have seen photos of those.... did it have the OPee Chee logo or did it just say it? I'm Canadian thats why this interests me. Do you remember what the card wrapper looked like or what brand was on it?

Never seen these before . Great story would like to see more of these. Maybe you can do a few videos on the original Star Wars trading cards from 1977 -1978. I bought so many of those back in the day.

Como de costumbre Junkman nos entregas historias interesantes acerca de coleccionables no solo americanos sino de otros países también ; a mí por lo menos estos datos anecdóticos me encantan . Saludos desde México

1:28 Arturito it's a easier way for the spanish talking audencies to pronounce like it's R2D2 in english, since it sounds similar from the name Arthur and "ito" meaning small so it's translate to Little Arthur , since if you pronounce R2D2 in spanish it would be like "Ere Dos Dee Dos" that is harder to spell

Argentina got its butt kicked in 1982 by the 'Empire' of Darth Margaret Thatcher but it sounds like Pepsi got the last laugh. Stories of those Mirage (and the Israeli non-licensed copy) along with Skyhawk jet fighters strafing Royal Navy warships (like X-Wings attacking Star Destroyers) was (and still is) some of my favorite reading.
