Mike, you and the AHC crew sure know how to bring back memories. My 1st new car was a 1989 Civic SI hatch. I remember this vintage Civic/CRX SI very well. Another iconic car from Honda. Regarding your paint guy's question about the black strip across the sunroof. I do not believe that was OEM stock. My Civic SI hatch had an all glass moonroof. I believe the CRX had an all body color metal sunroof. Thanks for all the memories. You guys do awesome work.
Bringing back so many memories. I owned a 1988 new in this color. I worked at a high end audio store and must have taken my interior out twenty times changing equip, ent and tweaking things. I could take it apart blindfolded. 😅
This video is so amazing. I have the same car. a 1990 and it was the same color. I painted it blue then back to yellow but went to phoenix yellow. integra type r yellow. Someday I hope to do the same level of detail as this. Great video!!
I absolutely love these videos!!! Especially now the restoration of an icon!! Of all Hondas- I have ALWAYS wanted a 89-91 Honda CRX! There is nothing like a CRX! Question- don’t know if it’s been asked- ever thinking of doing a Del Sol restoration??? They were kind of cool too- but my heart was always with the CRX! Love it! 😊🙌🏼
@@PaintSociety Got it. I'm restoring my crx and I like to paint it this same color but I'm worried that the color will come out very different from the original. I can't wait to see the outcome of this project. Thank you for your response
I'm surprised you found new moldings for the quarter windows. I am working on 95 Civic coupe and I'm hesitating on removing the quarter glass for paint. Your thoughts or source for molding for my car?
Roof , windshield , quarter window moldings are cheap on eBay . Discontinued in us but available in Japan. Since it’s a 89 I would get new 88/jdm belt moldings and trim to fit.
I'VE GOTTEN THE 2OOO COUPE 1/4 WINDOWS SEALS BEEN THINKING OF DOING SOME FRESH NEW PAINT WAS THINKING OF GETTING THE REAR & FRONT WINDSHIELDS RE·GASKET SEAL NEW TOO GOT THE DOORS & TRUNK SEALS TOO DOOR WEATHER STRIP TOO
just curious does anyone know where the common rust areas would be on a CRX? I’m getting ready to buy a barbados yellow crx and want to look in all the areas that might hide some major rust
Hi Team AHC, you will make a great job on this CRX. I m french and i own a CRX too from 1988 with 320000kms and DOHC motor. And i would like to know if during the restoration processus, you can explain where come from the water leak (water in the trunk) and how to solve it? It will be really helpfull. Thanks you from France
@@ahcgarage Thank you for your reply, but I wasn't specific enough. I was talking about water leaks in the lower fastening of the hinge bolts. if you have any ideas, that would be great. Thank you
you guys are def going the extra mile with this one. Nice to see. my first car was a gen1 85 CRX Best car I ever owned.
Right on! Thanks for watching

My '88 Si had a body color moon roof too. Man, I miss that car.
@@achaz23 Yes. I know what you mean. My 89 SI was my 1st really new car and I drove it well over 100,000 miles. Great cars that stayed reliable.

This was great stuff. Hopefully we’ll get to see the remaining restoration work and final results.
Commenting and liking before I even watched it. You know why? Because I know the video will be amazing!!!!!!

Nice work! I ended up having to cut the antenna and putting in an aftermarket one in the pillar. Had the same problem as you getting the wire out.
I ended up getting it out but it took some time
Brian is a magician
@@PaintSociety Hi Brian, different topic but, are matching the color yourself or you can get the exact match from a paint store?
@@davidgonzalez1110 we mix the paint in house according to the color code

Mike , sensational work.
Much appreciate it
Looking forward to the next episode! There’s nothing more gratifying than seeing AHCgarage restore Hondas back to their original glory days.

I would have left it as a survivor...and jus cleaned it up...🤦♂️

Great progress. Hearing the plastic panels come off made me cringe a bit. Always scares me pulling the plastic panels on the older Hondas.

Thanks for sharing. Water leak can be many places but check on your tail lamp gasket first

Were you able to get the antenna wire out after removing the windshield?
Yes, we were able to
B20 Swap it!
3rd gen Prelude got this same yellow?
Yes, 88-89 🤙🏼
@@ahcgarage A 90-91 Prelude it should be a nice video for your channel.
What's the ballpark price on a paint job like this?
All vary
Probably better to remove everything in car... then acid dip chassis and repaint... then undercoat bottom
What is the colour code for Barbados yellow
Y-49
Thanks 🙏🙏👍
Revuild the OEM starter.. aftermarket is crap.
👍🏻🇺🇸
Cheers!!
Too bad most of that stuff will never go back in the way it came out unless you buy new stuff which you can’t get most of it new now a days.
We will do our best, we always do 👍🏼
