    I hardwired mine and says on he apps , power source hardwired.. is the hardwire suppose to charge the battery? Mine looks like the battery still decreasing everyday. I’m confused here. What’s the purpose of connecting it to your exiting doorbell wire if it doesn’t charge the battery. Atleast my existing chime work. Is that the only purpose ? So the chime still work?

    • @ring
      @ring  4 года назад

      Thanks for contacting us, neighbor. Hardwiring your Ring will charge the battery at a trickle of approximately 10% charger per day. If your Ring is draining faster than this, your battery may still slowly drain over time. Here's an article on our website that outlines common causes of battery drain that may help you get the most out of your hardwired connection: support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/208190773. We're happy to help if you have any other questions.

    Hi, planning to get one of these, and I’ve got two questions:
    1. How can I determine if my doorbell transformer meets the requirements for hard-wired installation?
    2. Is there any Ring doorbell camera that does not distort the image (i.e. one where the image isn’t curved on the edges)?

    • @ring
      @ring  4 года назад +6

      Great questions, JC. Our battery powered Doorbells are compatible with any 8VAC to 24VAC transformer, while the Doorbell Pro needs a 16VAC to 24VAC transformer. The power rating will be listed on your existing transformer.
      All of our Doorbells have wide-angle lenses, to ensure you have an optimal view of the activity around your home. This may distort the image around the edges.

      We appreciate the question, Haz. Ring Video Doorbells can connect to your existing doorbell wiring and can work with your current chime kit to continue the same audio alerts. Just make sure that the power output of the doorbell transformer being used is between 8 VAC and 24 VAC. In addition, the Ring Video Doorbell and the Ring Video Doorbell 3/3 Plus are capable of running on their own rechargeable battery, if you decide to install it somewhere there are no existing wires.

    • @ring
      @ring  4 года назад +5

      Hey Andrew! The rechargeable battery can go months between recharges with normal use. This is dependent on a number of factors in your home’s environment such as the local weather and the number of activities captured. Hardwiring your battery-powered Ring device will provide it with a trickle charge of up to 10% per day so it may need to be recharged less often. Keep in mind, this also depends on usage. You can also monitor the battery level on the Device Health page in the Ring App. Let us know if you have any more questions!

    I want to hard wire the ring plus I have, the specifications say to use a transformer 8-24 VAC, 40VA max, but all the doorbells listed as compatible use the transformer 16 VAC, 10VA.
    It says 40VA max, is there a minimum recommended?
    I only ask because their is a lot of complaints their doorbells don't work with the ring, or other issues with The Ring...

    • @ring
      @ring  4 года назад

      Great question, neighbor. The Doorbell 3 Plus needs a minimum of 5VA to operate optimally when hardwired. A 16 VAC, 10VA transformer will be more than enough to provide your Plus with power.

      @@ring Hello Ring, I recently got a Ring Doorbell 3 that I was going to replace my existing doorbell with. I read that it requires an 8-24V AC, 40VA max transformer. I am unsure as to why there is a maximum rating, instead of a minimum rating? I was expecting a minimum VA needed that would be equal to the maximum power draw from the Ring Doorbell 3 (I assume when charging the removable battery). I called support twice and the first person said that I needed between 30 VA and 40 VA and anything more would cause the doorbell to overheat. Wouldn't it only draw the needed VA? The second person said at least 10 VA was needed and there was no maximum, which made more sense to me, but the user guide lists a maximum. Now on this video I see the minimum is 5VA, (assuming the 3 and 3 plus have similar power usage). What is the actually minimum and why do I receive different responses from each support person and the provided user guide? I currently have a 16V 10VA transformer that I assume would work, but don't want the doorbell to draw too much power and cause the transformer to blow. Thank you!

    • @CC-ew2jw
      @CC-ew2jw 3 года назад

      @@damekwellington4570 perhaps the max is stated in case you have a number of bell chimes located in different parts of the house - hardwired in. Each would add to the VA needed. If you go over 40VA, perhaps the ring doorbell is not rated to go beyond this and could overheat.

      Great question, you actually don't need any wires. Our battery operated Doorbells can be mounted on many surfaces and all our Doorbells and Cameras are a DIY install. Here is a link to our full lineup of Doorbells: shop.ring.com/pages/doorbell-cameras. Please let us know if you have any additional questions as we are here to help.

    This was not helpful at all! My Ring doorbell doesn't look like that and I can't get the faceplate off to secure it to the wall!

    I'm trying to look everywhere how to install video to my exsisting door bell button. I have a Victorian home with beautiful vintage buttons. I don't wanna replace it with this ugly piece of plastic junk. I want everything the same just add video.

    How to uninstall and steal any doorbell camera. Walk up to it take it off the mount and walk away with it

    • @ring
      @ring  4 года назад +13

      Hi Edward! Ring is mounted to a mounting bracket and secured with security screws so that it is not easily removable. If someone does attempt to damage or steal your Ring, the motion-activated camera will capture a video of them doing so, and you'll be able to use that as video evidence for a police report.

    My electrician installed my ring yesterday but the mechanical bell in the house doesn’t ring( he said he installed correctly and installed the jumper) And I get no sound on my phone. ( The app is installed, notification, phone volume are all good. ). I can see live video but unless I hear the ring from the front door I don’t know to open the app and call up the video. Saw the note to enable mechanical chime in setting but did not find that in the app. Recommendations to fix. Or send it back?
