I had a double flat on my ride two months ago. I was walking on the side of the road, ten miles from home. I walked barefoot because i can't afford to replace cleats and damage my road shoes. I was passed by over 300 cars at least in the three+ hours it took to get home. Nobody stopped to help and this is exactly how i felt. Walking on tarred gravel is so painful

I read he was ignored by neutral service by standing on the right side of the road. The race rules at that event states that the rider must stand on the left side of the road to get neutral service. So it was partly his fault for being unfamiliar with the rules. Vehicles do ride on the wrong side of the road at some country. It’s just one of those things.
But to be honest, he couldn’t manage to cross the street as there was a line of fast moving cars and motorcycles. Once the street is empty,then there were no more service cars around. Now put in the cars drivers position, seeing a man standing by the road with the wheel on his hand, how could they not think about it??? I guess they were good enough to understand such situations because it was their jobs, to stop and help the bikers, but they didn’t. Sorry for the poor competitor...

Had to look this up since the entire ordeal made me super agitated and the comments weren’t really giving much information. Turns out this was the 2019 Junior World Championships and the kid was 18 years old at the time. To be clear, this is not a professional level race. The issue was that Columbia’s service team was sharing cars with a few other counties and that car was towards the end of the team car convoy, so it would have taken a while for them to catch up. The misstep here is with the race’s neutral support service as it does appear that several neutral cars just passed this guy on the road. He ended up being serviced by the Colombian team and finished in 60th place. The articles I read have him finishing in good spirits, all things considered.
