Hey Roger. I found your big video on your journey to Catholicism last summer when I myself was going through that same journey of having my world turned upside-down. Just wanted to tell you I was received into the Church this Easter :) Thank you for your videos! You have a great gift of articulation and are able to put into words exactly how I've felt on my journey.
Hi, Brother...I just discovered your channel. I just became a Catholic a little over a year ago, but my journey with the Lord also started in a Southern Baptist Church in Louisville, KY when I was 11 years old. I answered an altar call, as so many do, and I was baptized the following Sunday, in the name of the Holy Trinity. In fact, the Catholic Church accepted my baptism as valid, and I was thereafter confirmed at Pentecost in 2023. I'm 61 years old, so my faith journey from Baptist to Catholic was a long one. I was a part of the charismatic movement in my late teens and early twenties. I attended what is now Asbury University (it was Asbury College when I was there), which is steeped in Methodist Arminianism and the holiness tradition. I then discovered the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist in an Episcopal Church, and then became an Episcopalian for many years. I even went through discernment to become a Priest in the Episcopal Church (since women are welcome to Holy Orders there). When I knew I wasn't called to be a Priest (though the Lord never indicated it was because of my gender), I entered RCIA within a couple of years. I, too, am grateful to the Baptist Church for introducing me to a rudimentary Gospel. What was missing in all the Protestant traditions that I was involved in was real discipleship. And then there is Eucharist! There is always Eucharist! Oh Holy Food and Drink of Unending Life!
So thankful for your thoughtful and charitable spirit in handling beliefs that cause such divisions. On my way home to the Catholic Church and your videos have helped me more than you know. Thank you!
I love your videos Roger. I wrestled with Marian beliefs quite a bit but thankfully God dropped the scales from my eyes. Far from displacing Christ, Our Lady only and always magnifies Him. She who I had seen as an obstacle has been revealed as a most sure bridge to Her Son, Jesus.

Very thorough and great overview of Mary. Thank you Roger. It is notable that in the early Church, the heresy of Collyridianism which held that Mary should be worshipped as a goddess was condemmed. So the church and church fathers know BEST!!! We all need the love of a Mother.

@@cbwilson2398This is not an imposition, but reflects the double meaning of the scriptures. Jesus here is being a good son who cares for his mother, but also offers John (named the *beloved disciple* here and whose own mother is there below the Cross as well) Mary as his mother. We don't strain the scriptures when we see Jesus' offering of the washing of feet or the last supper as being more than just an offer for the 12 apostles, so we shouldn't dismiss this event as also more than it seems.

Jesus Christ is the good Shepherd. He’s the only One we need, and He calls us to come to Him. “Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. And if this church no longer exists today, what good is the text which came forth from her if she couldn't sustain herself?

How does the Catholic Church justify from Scripture its dogmas regarding the immaculate conception of Mary and her bodily assumption? Does the Catholic Church call down the curse of God (anathematize) anyone who would disagree with these dogmas?
Obviously you have a poor understanding of what the Catholic Church really teaches. The Catholic Church says that Mary was preserved free from sin by God in order to PREPARE her to conceive and give birth to His Son Jesus Christ. Jesus is NOT like any other human being. He is INFINITELY HOLY (just like His heavenly father). And so the woman who would have the privilege of conceiving Him in her womb CAN'T be like any other woman in the world; she has to be DIFFERENT from every other woman by being SANCTIFIED and PURIFIED in order to prepare her for this task. Therefore, it is DISRESPECTFUL to the dignity and sanctity of Jesus Christ to say that He can be conceived in the womb of a SINFUL woman. Also, when we say that Mary is SINLESS, we are NOT saying that she didn't need a SAVIOUR. How do you think she became sinless in the first place ? Do you think it was by her OWN power? No. It was by the GRACE of Jesus Christ. In other words, God SAVED her by giving her an abundance of GRACE: "Hail Mary, FULL of grace, the Lord is with you" (Luke 1:28) and it is this grace that SAVED her by preserving her from sin. Mary had a SAVIOUR, and that is the reason why she was sinless. If she didn't have a Saviour, she couldn't have remained free from sin because she wouldn't have the grace to make it possible. The work of a SAVIOUR is not only to save people AFTER they have become sinners. A SAVIOUR can also preserve or protect a person from falling into sin in the first place so that such a person never even becomes a sinner in the first place. The Bible confirms that God has the power to prevent someone from falling into sin (Jude 1:24). Lastly, to say that someone is SINLESS does NOT mean that such a person is EQUAL to Jesus Christ. For instance, we know that the angels in heaven are SINLESS, but that doesn't make them equal to God or equal to Jesus Christ😎😎
@cbwilson2398 - my friend, it appears you don't understand the difference between INTECESSOR and MEDIATOR. please take a deep dive into the difference between these two!
The Scriptures speak of Christ as both the only Mediator and Intercessor for the people of God. “ For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus” “Consequently, He is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.” Furthermore, in the new covenant, the Lord Jesus Christ is alone the High Priest of God. The title of intercessor or mediator is nowhere given in Scripture to any other than Jesus Himself under the new covenant. Search the Scriptures. Test what I am saying. Mary is nowhere given as intercessor or mediator for you by God. God has given you both, fully and perfectly in His beloved Son. And shall you reject that?
@@doctor1alex my friend, per the scriptures, we are to make intercessions for one another (Ephesians 6:18-20) - Nowhere in scripture does it say that ONLY Jesus can make intercessions, and yes, Jesus also may make intercessions for us- but you seem to be combining those two verses into one (Mediator = intercessor) which is shown nowhere in scripture , nor are they the same!
All generations shall call me blessed

@@biblealone9201 I wasn't expecting your discourtesy. Perhaps you could answer the questions I asked. Thank you.
@@biblealone9201 Why didn’t God want to preserve me from sin also?
@@Wgaither1Did you give birth to Christ. he preserved you from sin by the Cross repentance and following the gospel given by his one true church😊😊
Can't you, as an ex-Protestant correct Catholics in their orientation toward Mary as their intercessor, instead of Jesus?
You don’t understand what the Catholic Church teaches if you’re asking this question.
@cbwilson2398 - my friend, it appears you don't understand the difference between INTECESSOR and MEDIATOR. please take a deep dive into the difference between these two!
Perhaps rather than deriding someone you could kindly explain how they don’t understand “what the Catholic Church actually teaches” please?
The Scriptures speak of Christ as both the only Mediator and Intercessor for the people of God.
“ For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus”
“Consequently, He is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.”
Furthermore, in the new covenant, the Lord Jesus Christ is alone the High Priest of God.
