The history of his abuse and anger escallating when drunk! She comes across to me as under duress repeating these instances. This poor woman was abused... I can see it in her eyes.. You all say but she left the kids with him.. But.. He was probably a great father and had never hurt his kids.. But.. He had her.. Hence her terror.

Sounds like she was sarcastic and he didn't like that, then smacked her for it. Who buys a house in another state and surprises a spouse/partner with it? That was controlling behavior.

Addressing her affect: As someone who experienced long term DV her affect seems appropriate to me. When I have been made to talk about my experience I have the same affect..... It's a way of emotionally protecting oneself while talking about painful stuff.

Danielle is very well spoken and believable. When I was 20 years old, I had a boyfriend who beat me within an inch of my life and left me for dead. In my first marriage, I had a volatile relationship and towards the end of it my husband tried to strangle me. Danielles story is extremely credible…Women who get abused keep the secret. When they are attacked, they will try to keep it in the home. There is fear, shame and even a hopefulness that it will all be okay. There is also a feeling that we deserve it, or we understand this person so its “not that bad.” There is a strange disbelief that “it can’t happen to me” and that the spouse who once loved us would never kill us, even if they come close. I often fought back with my husband, and if I got a blow in, I would run like hell to another room, often cornering myself in a bathroom or bedroom. It never occurred to me to “run outside and scream for help.” We just don’t do that. I too, was abused by older men and it was hard to accept that they weren’t “wrong.” One I day I finally realized that I deserved better. I am one of the lucky ones who got out of this vicious cycle.

I’ve watched this whole trial and at first I thought she was totally guilty but at this point (even before her testimony) I think she’s innocent. She had an older man who couldn’t handle taking care of her younger siblings and used her. He swept her on her feet with money and circumstances (traveling, new homes) and her naive self went with it. He was an alcoholic jerk.

I think Danielle's testimony is about 70/30 to her credit. I found her believable with exception to maybe her part in the abuse may have been more aggressive. I believe his past abusive behavior was real. No man is going to be abusive to wife in front of his high profile friends. He took her to a team doctor to treat. His friends would not testify about his character.

I am waiting for the cross exam to make judgments but my initial gut reaction is she stabbed him without thinking her life was in danger that evening. I mean couldn't she have run out of the house is she felt in danger? She was also known to fight back like she describes here. Also the 911 time lapse and trying to clean the blood and then lying makes me think she cannot be trusted.

not everyone handles a situation the same, not everyone has common sense.....but Danielle does not sound believable. She speaks as if she rehearsed her testimony. First of all, in such a frightful situation of an argument and violence, why did she run and hide in the bathroom after she stabbed him? Common sense would have her running out of the house and having people see her and aide her. To fight for your life and choose yourself for survival is understandable, but most people don't want to harm anyone else just to survive. She should of ran out of the house and got help for the man she just stabbed regardless of what would happen to her. To not call 911 for hours, I don't find her innocent.
