  • Population growth can impact the economy negatively or positively
depending on institutional arrangements. Growing population does increase
welfare but beyond a certain level, it might not. World has struggled with this
    proposition for a long time.
What we have known is that population growth must be accompanied by
societal development that is capable of using each new generation. Without
    this, disaster happens.
The conventional view is that population can be controlled by fiat. In reality,
family size is a choice, and varies with societal and economic development.
Where does Pakistan stand on this?

Population density is foolish measure. More people cannot live on mountains.

Half educated people sit in the panel. Pakistan might consider india as a enemy country but when talking in education system always speak truth. India fifty years back did try forcible method but it is more or less persuasion only. Let Pakistan understand india fertility rate per couple is around 2 only and same is applicable for Bangladesh. Pakistan has per couple fertility rate of 3.9. What is the level of intellectual honesty in Pakistan. Today India progress is total of population control, better education and openness in society.

"Past is never dead. It's not even past." 19rh century Muslim ghetto was visible to all but to the Muslims. They were at home in the ghettos. Poverty? No problem. Just as the Hindus played along with poverty, Muslims saw poverty as an excuse to stay closer to the desert faith of Arabia. Once the responsibility is thrown at the merciful Allah, the faithful went on relishing the state of anarchy. First military dictator himself had more than a modest family. He did preach the virtue of small family but only to a small audience. Second military dictator settled the Pakistan population problem by presiding over a Genocide. Third military dictator enacted Sharia Laws. "Past is never dead. It's not even past." A ghetto Muslim is doomed to remain a ghetto Muslim. Even in an Age of Information.

Panelists ignored the basic problems and aired meaningless arguments. They talked about the environment creation but they do not bother to discuss how we can create it. Further, they discussed about contraceptives and its use, decrease in mortality and fertility ratio, that was absolutely rubbish. Because how you can force someone to use contraceptives, and you cannot control fertility and mortality rates in the air. If that was the contribution of our so called intellectuals for the mitigation of the adverse effects of population then I think we deserve these crisis.
let me air one element that have potential to create an environment and if someone respond in this regard then we will discuss it further.
point one, no nation became developed without enhancing the no of its middle class. Multiple people talked about India and China but they forgot to mention their middle class creation policies and efforts. Even Bangladesh adopted this approach, Because middle class is the segment that create demand in the country and enhance the economic activity. Further, this sector try to get education and develop entrepreneurship culture in the society. Mostly, women from this sector work in offices and at managerial levels. Moreover, this segment of society have the potential to turn around the adverse effects of the population growth. Because, they are more educated, skilled, and create their own environment according to their circumstances. And primarily this segment gave birth to 2 kids. therefore, we need to develop policies and institutional contributions for the enhancement of middle class in the country. And its a complete discussion how we can do that. I think so its enough for now. thanks

If this is the low level of thinking even in Pakistani thinktanks, only God can save Pakistan. But God won't save those who dont want to save themselves.

Educate girls which will empower them and eventually that will solve all these problems. Open schools in every village along with health clinic with free lunch to the students so parents will be encouraged to send their children to the schools. In the higher education sector get more qualified teachers and institutions that will create a pool of required manpower all over the world which can solve the large youth unemployment crisis and help the national economy as well.

*Pakistan has the highest population growth rate in the region. Pakistan should provide almost free contraceptives through Govt & private pharmacies and send targeted educational ads through SM. This can quickly cut down the population growth voluntarily.* Bangladesh was able to reduce fertility rates using such schemes.

Population control by force ki koi zarurat nahi hai, population growth rate of countries as time passes decline kar raha hai
