the landing gear won’t come up on ground because there are proximity sensors which sense the position of the gear and send that to the PSEU and the PSEU reads that output and gives the gear up, down, locked or unsafe indications. The PSEU also senses the air/ground sensors on the landing gear (also known as weight on wheels sensors) and if the plane is on the ground and the gear is down if you move the lever up it won’t retract. Also you won’t be able to move it up it has a mechanical lock at the OFF position so it won’t move up in the ground unless you pull the little red lock override trigger on the lever. The purpose of checking the lever is just checking cuz maybe they did a gear test at that plane and they forgot the lever up and even tough the PSEU won’t retract the gear you cross check it cuz you don’t wanna have any trouble if the gear collapses and the plane gets damaged
Packs on Auto so we can get some air going in cabin. Hyd pumps off when towing so tow bar can't get jammed. Hyd pumps on after tow completed. This was a good quick video. Check list is always safer to use.
gear lever down? if that is in the checklist than I am guessing at some point someone had it up, and when they turned the hydraulic pumps on they had a rather expensive "whoopsie".
Great video! Just discovered your channel, you've got some really nice content. Would love to see more vids with the real aircraft. Keep up the good work! :)
Hello. Just out of curiousity, why didn't you turn on the fuel pump on the left before starting the APU? I am not a pilot, I just wonder how the fuel is provided to the APU without simply pumping it during the starting procedure. Thank you in advance :)
I got on a stone cold flight (the aircraft has been shut off over night and the delay was they had to borrow a GPU for startup) from Santa Fe to Denver, great flight. My wife and I got onboard and the airplane was stone cold inside. Really no problem, we live in NE.. They deiced before talk off, good precaution.

Hi. Can you go through each noise that comes alive when you hit a switch. So BATT on you hear a hum noise? AC power on busses you hear the Recirculation fans coming on etc
PilotEd i have my own fully built 737 cockpit with real IPECO 737-700 seats. It’s amazing i will send pictures once its been delivered and put together. My friend is a RYR pilot and its great to follow company procedures. I’m just trying to add custom sounds when switching on DC power (batt) AC power and you should hear the Recirculation fans kicking in.
haha man if i knew where every sound came from id be a very advanced engineer! but im afraid I only know a few, for now, learning more everyday! :) all the noises are the DC systems that turn on with the battery.
PilotEd I thought you couldn’t turn on the boost pumps if you aren’t on ground power. Would you normally turn on a pump if you are starting from battery power?
I didn't really get why the APU bleed switch wasn't turned on 1 min after the start of the APU, and I am really curious why this wasn't the case. Thank you for this video!
lol well if you can tell me why i would need it? I wasn't starting any engines, the cabin temperature was fine as it was night time. so why put the extra stress on the APU? these things cost a fair bit to run and maintain in the the real world, any wear you can save is money saved. ;0
you are supposed to yes, but APU will run fine without it. It has uses vacuum to drive its own pump incase we forget :) same with the engines actually, they have suction driven pumps incase electric pumps fail.
That’s a very interesting video for a simmer like me, thank you ! I just have some questions for you about 737NG’s MCP. What is the difference between N1 and SPD ? What is the difference between CMD A and CMD B ? In which case do we use CWS A/B function ? Is it instead of CMD A/B or does it work with ? Thank you so much ! Alex
lol wow allot of questions, N1 maintains an N1!, speed holds the speed. CMD A+B are the autopilots can use one or both, CWS is also autopilot, but a sort of autotrim :) thanks for watching
Hi PilotEd! Awesome video! We all appreciate such content 😊. In 1:34, I noticed the GPU came online but was only after a few seconds that you switched on the APU gens. Why haven’t you immediatetly transfered to GPU power? Is there some cool down time for the APU? thanks!
Good to see after 50 years, Boeing made NO improvements in the cockpit! Airbus, walk in, put bag away, turn battery on, turn Ext Pwr on, call FA for coffee.
So it is it safe/OK to run the fuel pumps without the engine running? For how long or so? Or does it not matter? I always assumed that somehow wasted fuel but that'd have to mean fuel is being injected somewhere it can't return from lol so yeah
They should ban these videos if RUclips were smart. Honestly, it was so in depth someone could possibly take this skill to steal a plane LOL. Thanks man
It's better to watch this video 6 times than to watch a 30-minute video. It's perfect

the gear will be down but as soon as you rotate the gear will retract which isn't that good

Should I warm up the engines, before I go, or is better to warm them up in motion? And how do you warm up the gearbox?

Can we use Ctrl + E to start up?😅
Excellent video! Subbed. I have always wondered what the loud click-clack sound is when the generator bus is turned on?
737 are really mechanical, its literally the relays clacking on and off.
Thanks for the awesome video. I thought it was recommended to have at least one fuel pump on for the Apu, or is that only for extended duration?
I could have put it on yes, but it does have a vacuum pump incase we forget ;)
@@PilotEd Thanks for the reply! I thought that might be the case just like other boeing aircraft

I have a question, why did you leave the engines bleed on and APU bleed off when your are running on APU ?
engine bleeds are on all the time normally unless doing a packs off take off. APU bleed doesn't need to be on unless you want A/C :)

Why did you recheck the fire warning
Wheel Well warning light wasn't on when AC Power (APU in this case) because that light is AC Powered.
Because of using APU will you request extra fuel
