Loved the Porto Santo episodes. Unfortunately, my planned horse riding holiday on the island has been cancelled. Firstly, they can't find my horse (Joen was the last rider) & now the UK government has put Portugal on the quarantine list. 😭🐴🤠

Prego was the name of the guy who invented the sandwich with a small and thin steak and a bit of its sauce. He had a small taverna with his name in Praia das Maçãs, Sintra. It was very successful mostly for the starving people ending their beach day, as also the version on the dish with chips and an fried egg instead of bread. It happend around 1900 and the concept was spread all over the nation.

Joen, fell from cleaning my place. Bashed my ribs above my kidney falling from about 2 1/2 feet. Ouch, going back to work tomorrow. I have been off since May 16 with a slipped disc punching my nerve. Did you go to an area called Ponta da Calheta where there’s a Restaurant right by the sea and on the back to main road on the left there is a wooden house which was built with wood that came from Norway. If you missed out maybe on the next visit. Once again enjoyed the video 👏
Usually the weather is sunny and almost no rain in Porto Santo, the sea water temperature is 24ºC~26ºC from mid July til the end of October. Today the sea water temperature was 21ºC in Porto Santo and 23ºC in Madeira.

The price for the boat varies throughout the year but from April to September it's 59€ (with return) for person, unless you are a resident. If you take a car, it's going to be much more expensive. The trick to take a car and make it less expensive is to go for the package of 4 people + car. July, August and September are the expensive months to take car. It's 258€ car + 1 person but its 355€ if you take the car and 4 persons. I hope I made it clear for you. You can also check the Porto Santo Line website.

Prego is what we call a small steak, not necessarily on a bun. "no prato" means on the plate. In Lisbon is very common to see restaurants serving prego no prato, it's a cheaper option for who wants a bitoque.
@@windu122 As a Portuguese I have to admit that I never been to these islands, but always heard that the climate is much milder than in Portugal, in relation to water, I can only say that the water of the Atlantic Ocean is famous to be cold waters, but the temperature from there it's milder maybe it's warmer. And in August it's the peak of the summer the temperatures are high.
