I am Portuguese and very proud of Porto Santo, but that would be Formentera
Porto Santo and Madeira were discovered by explorers sent by Prince Henry the Navigator. King Afonso Henriques was the first king of Portugal and lived 300 years before the discovery of the Madeira archipelago. It's like the Portuguese have a thing with repeating the same names like António or Manuel. I guess back in the day, it was Henry :D Can't wait to see you get more comfortable with the FPV. Your drone shots are already top notch and will only get better!
Actually the "christian name" of Afonso Henriques was just Afonso, Henriques is a patronymic because he was the son of count Henrique (Henry). Fernandes was used for the children of a Fernando, Martins for the children of a Martim, Lopes for the children of a Lopo, and so on. The same logic applies in other countries with family names like Johnson (anglo-saxonic for the son of a John), Eriksson (Scandinavia), Johansen ( more common in Danemark and Norway), Christiansen, etc.
I’ll be in Madeira for the first time in my life this coming August, 2021 and Porto Santo is a must for me, not so much for it’s beautiful beaches but to visit the house Christopher Columbus lived with his first wife. BTW, love your channel! I’m the son of a Portuguese born mother from São Miguel, Açores and a French born father. I am blessed to have been brought up in a Portuguese casa, speak fluent Portuguese and am a Portuguese citizen!
Another great video. Just a little correction: D. Afonso Henriques died in 1185 and the Porto Santo island was discovered in 1418. The one who you are referring to is Infante D. Henrique. (the image that you put in the video was D. Afonso Henriques, that was our first king...).

You went in May when it is warm, but not the warmest it gets (both air and sea temperature). Also, it gets busier in the Summer months; July and August are the busiest. Ask anyone from Madeira and they will tell you that Porto Santo is all about spending days at the beach, surrounded by friends, family and enoying good food. Chilled out evening meals and a few drinks after. 2 weeks of this is a must for any Madeirian.
The quality of this video is amazing. Probably your best yet. Also the best and most extensive footage of Porto Santo I've seen so far. You guys should start selling your videos to TV stations, you're doing a far better job than they are showing Portugal to the Portuguese and foreigners alike.
Absolutely love the cinematography. As a Madeiran living abroad I love all the RUclipsrs that show all the amazing things we have to offer to visitors.

Like you are exploring Portuguese islands! There’re so much content about Lisbon, Porto, Algarve as a whole, but not as much as about Portugal islands, don’t forget a day trip to selvage islands, it’s an archipelago south of Madeira

It’s like you said, Porto Santo is for relaxing, not for aventure and discovery. We all go there every year to just relax from Madeira. The most important thing are the sand beaches and the Lambecas, the famous ice cream 😂 hope you tried them

Porto Santo in a nutshell:
1) 6 KM of great beach
2) Seve Ballesteros designed golf course which gets little use
3) Airstrip sometimes used when it's too windy for planes to land on Madeira
4) Pretty devoid of greenery (as in 90%+ of the island)
Being poor is shit.... I was born in Madeira and I used to go to Porto Santo some days in the summer and Lobo Marinho is the iconic boat that takes tourists there... don't go home in 5 years.... U can travel the entire Porto Santo island in a day, it's nice!

FINALLY! THIS IS WHAT WE WERE WAITING FOR! Awesome video, god I missed these type of videos. Discovering places, brilliant footage. Joen, that FPV drone, man, please, please learn to maneuver that thing. That drone, doing 360º while going up or down a cliff, it will create amazing images. Believe it or not, first time I saw images from Porto Santo.
I'd love to see images of a sunrise, a sunset, those cliffs, that sea... Yeah, need more of those...

I remember I the first time I went to Porto and I was just randomly looking on Google maps an saw that there was a place called Porto Santo and made up my mind that I needed to go there and booked a flight to Madeira.... The 516 Arouca is the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in the world.
The bridge is located in the Arouca Geopark, a destination in the northern region of Portugal where visitors can hike, go white water rafting and explore historical sites. Arouca is designated a Unesco Global Geopark for its significant geological characteristics.
The park is also home to Neolithic graves and Roman and medieval ruins, as well as the Monastery of Arouca, which served as a religious center for nuns, and sometimes monks, between the 10th and 19th centuries.

When we say "bolo do caco da Madeira" is the archipelago, wich means Madeira, Porto Santo, and Desertas and Selvagens islands, so it is right to say Madeira.
As Azores is the archipelago too, not a specific island (there's no island named Azores) 😉
