- Porto Santo or Ilha Dourada, like the locals say, it's like the Maldeives in Europe, blue sky, soft golden sand, and clear turquoise waters where the pace of everything is tranquil, inviting relaxation and rest. Porto Santo island is simply dreamlike.
The island is characterized by two areas: the accidented northeast, mountainous, with rocky ledges and cliffs, and a coastal plain in the southwest, that includes a nine-kilometer long white sandy beach.

I have visited Porto Santo Island in Nov 2022 for Talasso therapy. Stayed there 18 days. It was awesome, amazing, lovely. People are so kind, place fantastic, food cheap and delicious, stay very chip at Centro da Juventude. Recomendo. I recommend this place. I miss it. I thank myself for gave me this excellent experience. 😊

Hello, it's roughly 2h:30m by boat, by plane from funchal it's less than 20 min flight, but I recommend the boat rather than the plane.

@@chandransharmile No , we fly to Funchal and then we go to Porto Moniz. We take a car to cheque the island, hiking and watch the sunset. Porto Santo, we think is nice Island, but we have only 10 days and so much to see on madeira. See you on our Chanel . Best wishes Siri and Uwe

Porto santo is good for 4-5 days maximum, as after this time you have seen everything and it's boring.
Ich war letzten Monat im Mai in Porto Santo. Ganz ganz ehrlich. Die Inseln wird masslos überbewertet! Eines der schönsten Strände Europas. Die Aussage anderen Leute. Das kann ich nicht behaupten. Die ÖV ist so heftig miserabel. Einmal und nie wieder auf diese Insel.
I couldn't disagree more with this comment. I guess you choose the wrong place for you vacations. I have been in hundreds of beaches around the world and Porto Santo is in my top 5.
Madeirans are very far from a progressive, tolerant society and are very attached to an old, very backwards, uneducated way of living but the islands have great infrastructure, absurd natural beauty and much dignity through noticeable organization and cleanliness. It's diametrically opposite to mainland Portugal.
