Thanks, Phil! Your video has just proved one more time that this is exactly the speaker that I need! :) I am really into portability, I'm focusing on getting the whole DJ set of equipment that's gonna fit in a backpack like a DJ(laptop) foldable stand + Traktor z1 with iPad+Marshall Middleton = and you can play a mix in the middle of mountains if you wish with no electricity required! Hope to purchase it soon!
Glad it was helpful!
exactly the info i needed. thank you so much for taking the time to go through the details
Glad it was helpful!
*Love this*
Glad to help
I just got this on sale recently and let me tell you that it’s the best speaker I’ve heard in a long time. Previously bumping the emberton before this purchase
Glad you're enjoying it
Thank you, Phil!
I always appreciate these videos. I started DJing as a hobby 37yrs ago, and eventually became a pro within that time, and even though I have experience with a lot of gear, I feel that we should never stop learning. You and DDJT team are an invaluable source for that. I’ve added comments, and in the chat, mainly for the ones getting started, but I never expressed my gratitude for all of it, and wanted to now. Thank you, again!
Great to hear! Thanks for sharing, and back at you - we appreciate your helping out in the chat.
Minirig's are still my favorite go-to speakers for outdoor DJ-ing. Tho I would be interested if you guys can do a comparison of this Marshall with the Minirig and their various setup.
Minirigs are better than these for DJing simply because they have lower latency. These are better all-rounders. We are planning on reviewing a number of speakers in the coming months and then producing a roundup.
Can’t get a mini rig in the United States as i have tried over and over ! Ebay has used ones but i never buy used
Which mini rig model are you referring to? I’d like to buy one!
@@allandenola5968 Why can't you order from their website in the US? Their order form does support shipping to the US.
Plus I have seen many people in the US that has ordered them without issues.
Hello, how do i connect two of those little beasts with my DJ Controller (Hercules Impact 500) to get the best Sound-Quality out of it?
Not the best choice for that, but wire them if you choose to.
Thanks for the review. Could you please mention some more of the technical specs or put up a graphic on screen like wattage, dimensions etc. in future reviews?
You're welcome! No, we're not gonna do that - some channels do though, check out Alan Ross if you like this kind of tech detail, he's actually got a good review on this very model.
@@digitaldjtips at the very least in the written review spec section
I tried it for performing with guitar and vocals but the latency is too high for me....via aux cable! any way to fix that? or can you recommend a compact good speaker without latency? I mean...latency via bluetooth is predicable....but why is there a latency via cable? thanks in advance...
Yes, even this has a little latency via cable - Minirig speakers don't - look at those.
i'm interested in numbers. how long is the latency? how audible is it actually. - which number of milliseconds difference can an average user/party guest actually detect?
also, can it simply be mitigated by beatmatching fully in your ehadphones by CUE'ing the main out to your headphones?
It's not about the party guests, it's about the DJ (the guests don't care). About 20ms is what most experienced DJs can detect. And yes, if you DJ completely in your headphones, you'll mitigate it entirely - one good reason to do so!
What would be a gold award bluetooth speaker Phil? About the size of the middleton. Thanks
We aim to review more, but have not done so yet. Our current favourite is the Minirig.
my Bose soundlink mini 2 just died and I bought a Marshall Middleton - NO comparison - the Marshall has great sound clarity, more volume and great bass !
Glad you're enjoying it! Definitely a step up
Solid video as always Phil, thx
Glad you enjoyed it
How about DJing with an EV Everse 8 for small party outdoors. It has bluetooth as well as XLR inputs for mic and speaker. Has 8 hour battery. Will that have any latency issues??
Almost certainly not as it is not primarily a Bluetooth speaker and is designed for performers.
Did you upgrade the camera recently? Looks like your frame rate went up. 👏🏼
No, we just put the frame rate up Glad you could tell :)
Get a w king d8 ,Hardley any latency when wired I use it for my mini setup with numark2go2touch and iPad mini 👍 has a gd battery and can charge items as well for around £80 it’s a 50w speaker ,also tried with a jbl charge 3 to much latency with the dsp
Thanks for the recommendation, we intend to test many more of these speakers this year
So whats the gold standard the bult in speakers on denon and Numark gear? I'm looking for something i can plug my rane one into when I'm just practising at home. I dont always want to use my studio monitors (requires unplugging my MPC)
Yes, they're great. Minirig portable bluetooth speakers have zero latency too.
Thoughts on marshall woburn 2?
Not tried it
Nice! I was looking for a portable to use as a monitor.
Glad I could help!
Would be great to see a colab with Alan Ross, one of the top independent reviewers of portable speakers on youtube. He is based in the uk. He includes latency tests as well for the DJs in his audience. I'm sure he can provide you with a list of low latency speakers. Btw, the featured speaker has nothing to do with Marshall apart from a licencing agreement. From my own experience you get as dj a better quality for your buck if you go for no nonsense brands like Soundcore, Tribit, Earfun rather than the marketing heavy brands like Jbl, Marshall etc where you pay a high premium to the marketing department, licence holders and shareholders.
Thanks for the points you raise here. We do enjoy Alan's channel.
Do NOT buy a JBL boombox for DJing. Hard wired it still doesn't work. Latency. A £400 mistake.
We've heard that too Ashley, thanks for the tip. What did you go for in the end?
@@digitaldjtips Pioneer dm40s. Then m audio bx2. My favourite speakers mackie thump ....
@@ashleystyles6888 Oh yeah, of course you'll correct it entirely with DJ/producer wired speakers. Thanks for sharing.
I've made this mistake
Is it mono? Are stereo?Nobody answers this question...
Can someone mention the speakers that DO allow you to dj with them?! Or do a video on them? Rather than just doing multiple videos on the all the speakers that don't?! 🤷🏻♂️🤯
As we mentioned here and in our articles, any wired speaker designed for DJ or music production use will be fine. If not, the Minirig range are all zero latency as well.
@@digitaldjtips I have these speakers (pioneer monitors) for my set up at home. But I want something mobile and compact for on the go. I'm about to travel for some months. So I've bought an additional controller to take with me. I obviously don't want to take wired speakers or anything cumbersome. So a Bluetooth speaker will be ideal for what I need. You mentioned that some Bluetooth speakers don't have that component. So I'm asking what make and models are they? Thanks!
Do you think the latency is low enough to use it for an Instrument?
No
maybe a silly question...is there already a fake middleton or not yet??im hesitant to order in our local online shops..emberton has already many fakes so that im asking is there already a fake middleton..thanks
No idea, sorry!
LIke for the 🇺🇦✌in shelf behind you)
Is this the HOME SHOPPING NETWORK? Why recommend this speaker to any dj. Must be getting a great kick back from Marshall.
Thanks for your feedback. to be clear:
1. We didn't recommend this to "any DJ", we were clear who it is not for (scratch/performance DJs will certainly not like the minimal but existent latency)
2. We are a DJ school, we accept no payments at all from any companies whose products we review or use, we are 100% funded by our students.
Hope that clears up your concerns,
Not enough bass for me 😁
Fair enough, law of physics says smaller speaker = smaller bass
