especially at 3:05 where the trumpet and brass part is very pointed and marcatto and then right after, the winds come in and it’s smooth and pretty with that one trumpet hovering on top, then right back to those brassy attacks
@@salemquinn2067 yeah.... 😔 2020 is extremely rude. I missed out on a lot of wind ensemble opportunities bc of COVID. I’m sorry you missed out on playing for UIL. That really sucks... 😞
I played the vibraphone for this piece in high school and my school's band went to Canada to perform in a competition and I realized I left my music in the US. It's a good thing I memorized my part... either way this is an emotional piece.
I get that motifs build of the lion's share of all good music, but every time I hear this I can't get over have a four note gesture could build this gorgeous music. Played this in High School as a junior, now I'm lucky enough to be writing a research paper on this work in college.
@@melancholykaleidoscope2859 that's funny because I'm actually playing this part on marimba! My school doesn't have a synth so I'm playing 4 mallet grip
throughout my 6 years of being a percussionist, (which i still am) my band director decided that i should play tuba for 1 song, and it was this song. I picked it up pretty quick and i practiced everyday to get better and better, and i have to say i love having an alternate instrument!!!
And also I forgot to mention that i started tuba for my holiday concert which was in december so i had a month of hard work and practice! I played a song called Air for Band by Frank Erickson, and it was beautiful. Blue in Green was my second tuba song, and I played this during my winter concert and we were amazing!! Now I'm going to Bemidji High School for 8AA North Regional Large Group Band Contest on the 3rd of April. We're playing Blue in Green Music and A Holsinger song called Prairie Dances. I play percussion Bass drum for Prairie Dances. Wish me luck at Contest!!!
Played this piece for UIL this year and one of the judges I kid you not wrote down, "This is the best performance of this song I have ever heard." Whenever my band director was going over scores and he read this note it was one of my favorite moments of band all year because as a horn player I loved this piece and would give everything I had while playing this piece and would write everything down (even though i usually dont) but this piece means so much to me and I'll remember it and listen to it when i need some joy back in my life.
Nobuo Uematsu has listened to Blue and Green Music. In *Find Your Way*, the Final Fantasy VIII track that plays when in a cave, you are greeted with the same melody pattern heard at 0:36 . Either Uematsu listened to this or they had the same idea to use the same arpeggio. Just an observation I made. Also I would be playing this for UIL, but corona
This is one of the most beautiful pieces I have ever played. We played in 7th grade and I still go back to it years later. Try to appreciate your music, it makes playing it so much fun, but more importantly allows you to play it with more emotion and expression. This is a masterpiece

2:52 best part, don't even argue with me.
FACTS
I play the timpani part here. My band director just lets me go apeshit, cause I'm the most entertaining guy in the band. Also the percussion senior.
Am I the only one that thinks that trumpet part sounds like ultra instinct in a way. Like if it was more minor
Actually I liked 3:43 better but that part is also so pretty
