Thank you for updating the audience. It's been an insane experience for the country to witness. Regardless of opinion, we all are familiar enough with LA to have this be captivating, and worrisome. ❤
It’s a complex system. In BC we have a firesmart program that helps you prepare and give advice including landscaping. An element of the fires that exasperated the issue was all the invasive eucalyptus trees that are extra flammable and in some explosive. All these elements needs to be looked at in a holistic way when the rebuild. Wishing everyone safety and best wishes as you move forward.
I live here in L.A. I'm so glad they're talking about the fires. It's pretty scary here right now. I'm safe where I am but I have to do something to help in some way. I'm getting ready to go to the grocery store to get some food & drinks for the firefighters. I just don't know what else to do... 😞
we are one of the rare "developed nations" with power lines in air. power is owned by private companies in the USA. they value making profits over prevention. having lived w/o power for several days during hurricanes. I wish for regulation that would obligate power to be underground for our public safety. thank you for the mention of this issue.
Ironically one of Josh Brolin's best acting performances (in my opinion) is "Only The Brave" which is the true story of wildfire fire fighters. Him and Jennifer Connolly were incredible together.
Morning Dax & Monica, so glad you guys are okay but my heart goes out to all the families of LA I had the privilege of visiting +_ 20 years ago, I live in Cape Town a city that has also had its fair share of fires 🔥 like a month ago Table Mountain was on fire🙈 stay safe guys love your Podcast.
Glad to hear your experience with the fires. My in-laws lived in Altadena and my nieces name is Brie! I pretended you were talking about her. They lost their entire home, and neighborhood, it’s truly devastating ❤ love to all Cali. And I did check the app for Los Feliz thinking of you guys😂 my family and AE are my top priorities
talking about the mindset, it sounds like you're talking about the difference between pain and suffering. Pain is kind of always there, but our mindset really contributes to how much we suffer.
Glad you guys are okay! I hope that everyone gets the help that they need to either rebuild or relocate edit: I also agree that we should be doing more to help prevent/mitigate issues so the cleanup isn't as bad
Fire is part of weather and has science to it. Firefighters are trained experts in this. All the Governor needs to do is create a team of Fire Chiefs from all over the state, let them come up with a plan and create a financial gameplay to make that happen.
Btw power lines underground, that might be tricky due to earthquake risks there in California (aside from costs) - but certainly should be doable with flexible conduits?
so many heroes; so many villians; and so much uncertainty; as the rug is pulled out; i think you look capable; but sometimes in war; snafu; changes fast; for seemingly good; sometimes; thank god; you don't have to live in my mind;

Yeah not gonna lie, I googled multiple times to check if Los Feliz is ok. I'm all the way in London, but hey - Im so glad you're all okay there. xx
I did the same thing. I'm in Seattle. Closer than London ...but I was still worried
From India 🇮🇳
I learned so much about that area from checking to see if it was close to Dax and Monica. From here in Florida

Why am I just now seeing this podcast in my feed?! Subscribed! Dax is the man! ❤
Dax, thank you for your common sense reminder about what the government is!
Love the video pod. For reference please include the date of recording.

This was filmed on the 8th. Today is the 14th and those fires continues. I hope they are still ok..

Monica - the Palisades aren't more inland. It's a coastal town, just like Malibu.
Some of that fire is/was more inland though, especially compared to where they live vs Malibu
Can you edit out the Allstate ad? Just felt SO inappropriate with the subject matter 😢
Allstate ad? Really? In the middle of a historic wildfire?
And then you play an Allstate add who has DROPPED AND DENIED fire coverage for those that live in a fire risk zone like myself. ✌🏼 Epic. lol
Cause they choose who they do business with 🙄
The all state ad was insane

Monica always relates to situations like a full-fledged human being.
ALERT
Dax, we need you in government - Please.
