The vets and vet techs at CROW are amazing. I just recently donated money to them. They save and rehab all wild life and they are in need of new outside flight cages for all sorts of birds.
I've been meaning to take a tour over there. Hopefully one of these days. I'd like to share the good work they do!
What a wonderful treat this adventure was with Captain Jenni ! I loved seeing all the live critters especially the cute little stingrays ! Thank you for sharing with us your fantastic day ! 🏖️🐠🐋🐬
I deleted an earlier comment asking about sting rays when you were in the water before Cayo Costa, lol! They’re very cool animals, but that barb is quite painful-helpful tip: if you ever get tagged, put the offended area in HOT water, the kind that you think you initially can’t stand, for 20 minutes to a half an hour, changing the water to keep it hot as necessary. I got tagged a couple of years ago, and paid for the doc-in-a-box to literally put my foot in a bucket of hot water. Monitor for infection, but otherwise, you should be good. Cheers, and thanks for the beach break each week!
That makes a lot of sense. I got stung by an urchin in Jamaica and holy cow that was painful. Keeping my foot in the hot tub definitely helped!
We had a famous man in Australia who died from a stingray bite. Be careful please.
Steve Irwin was stung in the chest. Death from a stingray is rare, but you can develop a serious infection, so get medical attention if you are stung.
@SWF Beach Life Thank you for warning us about the stingray shuffle. IMHO, hotels on the beach, aren’t very good about warning guests about stingrays.
Gorgeous video boat tour. What a fantastic day out! Thank you for sharing your adventures Sharman 😍😍😍🐚🐚🐚
I lovvveee our 32 minutes with you every Sunday. You are so lucky you get to do this so often.
I am SO lucky!!
Thank you for taking us snorkeling this week! The manatees and sting rays were beautiful to see! ❤️🐚
I love that you are showing all the animals and critters ❤
Hello how are you doing today
How about we all go....... 😊
If I win the lottery I'll book an entire cruise ship for us all!!
Love seeing the live critters. All the shells are beautiful. It is always a treat to learn new things watching your shelling videos. Thank you for sharing all the different things in your videos. Just enjoy it all. Thank you for helping me relax. Have a great day.
Oh yeah, a day boating around looks ideal.
What an amazing adventure. Beauty at every turn! Absolutely love learning from you! Every video there is something new to learn! What a treat this was! Thank you so much for taking us! 🪸🌴💕
Thank you so much for choosing to spend your time with me at the beach!
According to my screen, I was the 777 person to like this video. How neat. Love your videos. Started watching about 2 months ago. Watching you helped me identify some shells I bought at a Dollar Store--awesome! God bless you.
I love all the rough scallops the pretty colors that they come in OMG that orange was beautiful
I love manatees. I was fortunate to swim with the manatees in Crystal River. It was the best experience ever.
I've been able to do that twice .. it's magical :)
I haven't done that....yet. 😃
Crystal River is a must if you want to swim with the manatees. No real shells here, but lots of wildlife. The water is 98% fresh from all the springs. Well worth a visit if you have not been here.
I was at our beaches in Oregon yesterday! Love some beach time!
Hello how are you doing today
Love watching all of the shells. I want to bring them all home with me. Lol
Oh, another amazing excursion....thank you and Captain Jenni. It is always amazing to see critters in their own environment. And yes, you were getting wrinkly😊. ❣️🦋❣️🐚🐚🐚🌊🌈🥰
What a FANTASTIC adventure I just went on with you! WOW!! Thank you so much beach friend! The little doves in the sand dollars are pretty awesome aren't they? Can't wait for your next video!
I was quite lucky to meet Jenny! I had such a fun day!
What a wonderful day! Lots of beautiful creatures this time ! That definitely was a shark ! Small one but none the less !
That horse conch was fabulous! To bad it was inhabited lol !! Hopefully you’ll find another one one day soon !
It felt more like a tarpon on the beach, but when I looked at the footage I definitely thought it was a shark. That water was so beautiful and it was such a fabulous day!
I love SW FLA, south of Sarasota is nothing but the tropics! Although we were on Longboat key this past week because Englewood beach condos are still repairing from hurricane Ian but manatees were swimming offshore of the beach! Unbelievable being from Charlotte county the manatee were just within swimming distance but I was telling everyone not to touch them
Manatees are protected so good advice to not touch them! Isn't it amazing what you can encounter in nature? I love Florida! ❤️🐚🌴🌊
Absolutely fantastic adventure! Thank you for sharing something a bit different this week ❤
Hello how are you doing today
This was a great trip! Thank you for taking us along!!
I love snorkeling! My first experience was in Jamaica. Beautiful fish and sea turtles! Unfortunately, I ran into a swarm of baby jellyfish, and my legs were stung pretty badly. They did warn us about them, but I didn't see them until too late. I still have scars on my legs to this day, and it happened about 40 years ago! Still, though, it was a great vacation!
I got stung by an urchin when I was in Jamaica and holy cow that was painful. I can image those jellies really did a number on you. I'm glad you have good memories to go along with it though!
Fun adventure!! Have a great week. See you Sunday! XOXO
Turquoise water in Costa Coya so gorgeous!! what a great adventure im sure you're meeting and learning with so many different sorts of people all who love the outdoors in FL !!! Whst a great way to network with with people who love nature in FL just as much as you do Sharmon!! Thank-you so much for sharing 💙🩵🩶🤍 it's Been 50° with rain here in northern Maine for all of June practically so im def living vicaroously lol cross your fingers for us maybe the weather will warm up before end of June lol!! Jeez lolol
I hope Spring gets to you eventually!!
Oh, wow, what a magnificent day made even better by strolling along the beach collecting sea gems 😎 🐚 Giant thanks, Sharmon.
Hello how are you doing today
Fabulous day! Thanks for sharing it with us!
Thank you for the adventure.see you next sunday!!
If you come across a mask that doesn’t do as much damage to your hair as much as most masks - could you post the recommendations here? I have a sleeve for mine but I constantly break my hair off. Gonna try a buff or goggles and nose clip - lol Great video as always Chamin We love your adventures!
I have this full face mask (it's a little big to carry around but I do it anyway) with cloth elastic straps and it doesn't break my hair. I've lost an earring, but my hair thanks me! amzn.to/37jxiTG
Those large lightning Whelks are so cool! Your private boat trip sounds amazing. It so fun to see the large manatees. They are huge, unusual animals - and are so much fun to see in the wild. The turtle tracks were also very interesting.
Thank you for sharing your trip with us! Love your videos.
This is a beautiful video. I like seeing the underwater filming. I was stung by a stingray. The barbed stinger punctured though my leather tennis shoe and into the inner middle of my foot. I was in Mexico. It was extremely painful. I was treated at the local Red Cross. They injected me for the pain and a antibiotic. They bled it out a bit to clean it. A few days later back in the States I had a full blown infection that required cutting and drawing out some of the infection I was also given antibiotics. 🐌🐚🌻🐶🐕🥰
Oh what a terrible experience with that sting ray! I'm so sorry that happened to you but I'm glad you're okay!
Amazing adventure Ms. Sharmon....wow the view is spectacular 👌 I am planning on visiting soon...
Brilliant video. Hi to Jenny too. I love the tale of the island lady,! I love seeing the manatees. Echoing others, please keep away from the stingrays…Steve Irwin and all that. What an experience. Stay safe xx
It was such a fun day. I was lucky and got to meet quite a few really awesome people during my Florida Master Naturalist class. I learned so much!
@@SWFBeachLifeand, as a result, so do we! xx
I'm down in Mexico Beach and I saw a manatee! I also got to see 2 turtles. All 3 were in different locations. It has been so rough in the ocean so most shells are broken but that didn't stop me from going hunting for shells. We have 10 more days before we go back to TN. Enjoy your videos!
Have a great time!!
Looks like a wonderful day, thanks for sharing!
So can not wait to move to Florida. Just waiting on my mom to retire. Then the whole family is moving down. 😊
I waited 3 years and it was worth every minute!
@SWF Beach Life little less then 2 year's we should be there. Hopefully will see ya on the beach ⛱️
As always what a wonderful, beautiful and relaxing video. This may have been one of my favorites. Thank you.
Hello how are you doing today
So much fun! Thank you for the trip!
What a great adventure.
Hello how are you doing today
A great trip for your show today. Just beautiful. The gulf is so nice. I miss the gentle waves. The Atlantic is colder. Not as many shells, but then, you can get alot of micro fossils on the riverside of the east coast.
Beautiful shells 😊.
This would be so much fun to do! Thank you for bringing us along as we experiece this adventure along with the veiws education alo g the way is priceless!
Hello how are you doing today
Hi Sharmon, my dear beach friend.
Wow, what a beautiful day at the beach and in and on the water!
Captain Jenni really did her best to give you and us a wonderful experience!
I really love manatees. They are such gentle giants. It's so sad to see that they can get horrible wounds due to boat propellers. I wish that people would be more careful. Not only for the manatees, but all the wildlife.
I'm sorry I didn't comment on the last two videos. Unfortunately, my health problems got worse. I now have cardiac issues as well. So, I was admitted to the hospital for it.
Your videos are really my escape from all that's going on. And I'm so thankful that I found your channel a few years ago. Your videos really are the highlight of my week. I love your enthusiasm and your sharing of knowledge.
Thank you so much for all you do. It's more than you'll ever now. ❤
Have a wonderful week. I hope you have some great adventures, with lovely weather and in good health.
Big hug and lots of love, xoxo ❤️, Ilona
Hi Ilona! I am sorry to hear you were in the hospital again. Please do imagine I am speaking directly to you when I'm out there because I do think of all sorts of things when I'm out there - including people that are special to me! I love that I am connected with someone I've never met - across the world no less! I feel the love you send and I hope you feel mine.
I am beyond thrilled that other people enjoy the same things I do - the outdoors, nature, beaches and all the fun things that can be discovered out there. I am sending you peace, love and sunshine directly from Florida to the Netherlands! ❤️❤️❤️
@@SWFBeachLife Thank you so much for your kind words. That means more to me than I can put into words. ❤️
@@ilonamollema6467 I was thinking of you on my morning walk today - and it wasn't even the beach! It was just a lovely day and I was hoping that all is well with you. I was also thinking I don't actually know how to pronounce your name. I think of it as ILL-ON-A. Is that right?
Wonderful indeed!
Great adventure!! Thank you for sharing.
Been to Cayo Costa once. Hope to get down there again this Summer. (I live up by AMI and LBK). Love your videos! See ya on the beach!
Thank you so much for taking us with you, on this fantastic adventure, would love to see more if possible x
Thank you so much!
Loved this adventure. If I have time while I am there in Sept might just check out a tour. Love those manatees and the turtle tracks. I'm like you, can't really see good with rhe red light so I just stick to day shelling during turtle season. Thanks for taking us on this adventure. Lovely!! Have a great week!
Even when I've done night shelling with the white light I found it hard to see!
@@SWFBeachLife me too Sharmon!
Looks like so much fun! Some day I have to make it to Florida!
Our local hospital gets a lot of stingwray injurys every year. Everyone tells how extremely painful it is! The effects of the barb injury last a long time. It is one creature I am afraid of. Before descending the ladder on our boat, to get into the water, I always carry a handful of small shells that I toss out in the water, under the ladder area, to scare any wrays away, before I get in. Of course we also do the stingwray shuffle 😊
Smart about throwing the shells out! I didn't think of that getting off the boat but I will from now on!! Thank you for that fabulous tip!
Cayo Costa is amazing! One of the best shelling experiences of my life was when we took a charter there. Thanks for the heads up for your captain. I’ll be sure to bookmark this video for future trips. 👍🏻❤️
I got barbed by a sandray about two years ago in June. It was extremely painful. When I finally went to the dr he sliced the wound open and pulled the barb fragment out of my heel. It was worse than a jelly fish sting. I will wear thick soled water shoes and shuffle from now on.
I am so, so sorry that happened to you!
Great trip! Thanks for sharing such a fun trip!. When have a minute, take a careful look at the grass around the big live horse conch (29.21). I'm not sure, but maybe see a pipefish on the grass or an upside-down seahorse. .Love spending time at the beach with you! Janine
I've seen those pipefish up close and they have the cutest faces! Just like their seahorse cousins.
What a fun-filled video thank you❤
Thanks so much for watching!
Alas. It's so good to see shells! I can't WAIT for this weather pattern to change!!! I did walk HI at neg low tide the other night and got to see some cool live critters, but only saw 1 good LW and some crab shells at the very north end. Beautiful live horse conch! The water there was really pretty. Reminds me of Lido Key. My cousin from St Louis is in St Pete and I'm taking her to Lido on Wed. Hope the weather is decent. Thanks Sharmon! xxoo
Cayo Costa is north of the Caloosahatchee so the fresh water doesn't mix with the salt water and the water stays really clear. That live horse conch was GORGEOUS! I was happy to be saying hello to so many critters!
Thank you for the video.
Awesome, thank you!!❤
sooooooo beautiful!
Hello how are you doing today
Thank you for taking us along on this trip...I would absolutely love to do something like this....Will add to my list of things to do...
I’ve been awol for a little while and, wow, what a way to catch up on your shelling adventures! Thank you for bringing us along; what an amazing day. Wish I was there, but have enjoyed being about 1700 miles NE of you right now. ☺️

Awesome video! Beautiful areas makes me want to visit again
Hello how are you doing today
Wonderful video and great advice as alwys! You always do such a great job with your videos. Love the footage on the manatees and the underwater shelling footage also. Thank you for sharing your adventures!
Thanks so much for stopping by! I had myself a fantastic time! I was super stoked to see sting rays doing their thing.
Hey you somehow find all the great shells how!
Hello Beach Angel and all you beach lovers out there!
Have you ever seen a green-eyed Indian, Angel? Mine are Kelly green because I want to hitch a ride, too!
We used to have a seaworthy craft when I was a kid, but Daddy sold it after the Great Boat Disaster. I'll share that some other time.
We used to hang out at Crystal River in the winter and there were so many manatees there! They still come up the spring run and into the spring's boil at Manatee Spring State Park, not too far from you. Of course, the park's personnel make everyone get out of the water when manatees are visiting.
You know, I'm sure, that you can look through a swim mask held just under the surface of the water to make the underwater world more visible.
So wonderful to be out on a boat on this beautiful early summer day! What a blessing it is to be able to catch a ride in return for free advertising!
That's so amazing to see the turtle tracks! Hope nobody bother the nest.
I only wish Steve Irwin had respected a stingray's boundaries. So sad that the world lost his enthusiasm and knowledge of the natural world! Very glad you're more cautious that than, dear Angel!
Life is good when you're shelling on a sunny day. I'm enjoying the sound of your voice, of course, but the sound of the waves lapping at the sand is lovely, too. So relaxing.
I love to see your fingertips, all raisined by the water.
Ah, Beach Time! My blood pressure just dropped fifteen points!
I'm glad you remembered about the doves! They make finding a broken sand dollar worthwhile.
We used to have pet gophers when I was a kid! The town of St. Andrews, now part of Panama City, used to have gopher races on the Marina when I was young. They'd have a Biggest Gopher Contest, too, which was a lot of fun.
Gophers dig big holes with lots of side rooms, most of which provide shelter for rats, possums, smaller gophers and rattlesnakes. These holes provide vital bolt holes in a wildfire, saving lots of little lives.
My Grandpa, ever the wild Indian, enjoyed a good pot of gopher stew when he could catch one.
Wow, those sponges are amazing!
This is so wonderful, seeing you explore by snorkel! It takes me back to living on the Island as a girl, spending more of my days in the water than out! I'm so happy for you to have this amazing experience! Only a teeny weeny bit green-eyed! Thank you for taking us along!
What a wonderful way to spend an evening!
Much love from Tennessee! I'll have to post a video of hunting for salamanders in a mountain stream.
Have a great week, everybody!
ReBecca, The Lost Mermaid
I had so much fun snorkeling! I am always cold (thanks for helping out with that! ❤️) so for me unless it's boiling hot out I am not comfortable but I had a GREAT time and it was a bit easier snorkeling in the bay where the pull of the tides isn't pushing me around. I didn't grow up on boats or anything, but I did grow up near a lake so I can swim, and ice skate with the best of them. There are these buckets with a clear bottom you can use to "peek" under the water and see what is in the surf, but I am not too keen on carrying a bucket around. I like my shoulder shell bag just fine!
Sounds like gophers "help" their buddies like the gopher tortoises do. There are a lot of symbiotic relationships that these creatures get into!
@@SWFBeachLife That's what I was referring to, as we native Floridians just call them gophers. We all know they're tortoises! Ha!
Do you want a crochet swimsuit? I can do that, too!
@@ittybittykittymama7582hello how are you doing today
Wow what an amazing day!!! ❤thanks for sharing her info.. I have a bday in Aug I think that is a wonderful trip 😊
I can't explain how much fun I had. It was an awesome day!
Turtle season
@19:12 looks like a shark (years ago, I was an avid scuba diver in Southern CA; I had extensive shark training as they are abundant out here at certain times). Anyway, sharks also love to eat rays. As you have rays close to the shoreline, the sharks will follow them in. Be careful in that water!
Always! I should probably be more afraid of sharks but I'm not. I won't go looking to pet one or anything but I think they're just as awesome as the other sea critters. I wonder if that shark was indeed hunting rays! 🤔
Man do I have a lot of catching up to do with your videos LOL. Interestingly I've seen stingrays right up by the surf in the wintertime as well (perhaps that was just an oddball). Agreed that the scenery is amazing! Happy shelling :)
HEY A!!!! Nice to see you commenting here! I hope all is well with you! Let's see - you did miss a pretty epic Alphabet cone day on Kice, I had a KILLER shelling day on Sanibel where I finally broke my shell bag. I found some sweet tinies on FMB so it's been the usual down here in SWFL! I hope, especially with the hurricane, that you and yours are okay. 🙏🏼
@@SWFBeachLife Thank you for your kind regards, I hope you and yours are alright as well. Did I miss any mystery shell cases?
@@shellstories Maybe just a pitted murex. Oh and a potato chip tellin which ended up being a fat tellin. Honeymoon Island was SO fun! Seeing the turbans everywhere was awesome!
Thank you so kindly for sharing your wonderful video of you snorkeling. Unfortunately in Canada my mask and snorkel gets used in my kitchen while cutting up lots of onions for pickles. However it is ready at the drop of a hat for a trip to Florida. On my bucket list to come down and go shelling in a
Beautiful motorhome.
I have heard those masks work for cutting onions! 😂 Just keep it in good order and you can hunt for those underwater treasures. I am kind of obsessed with the idea of taking a motorhome up the Florida Coast. I hope to rent an RV for a long weekend to give it a whirl one of these days!
Sounds absolutely lovely. I hope you get to rent a motorhome and do that trip. My mask and snorkel has been to the Sea of Cortez snorkeling every glorious day for 5 weeks. Came back with my parents in a truck with a canopy on it. I collected 4 big Rubbermaid containers of shells and rocks. I never knew what most of the shells were until I found you on U Tube. Thank you so kindly for sharing how to clean them. Also a trip to Hawaii for 2 weeks my mask and snorkel was used. So hoping for a trip to Florida.
@@dalemaclaren7576 That snorkel definitely needs to meet Florida!
Great video! Different and yet the same.
How long approx do you soak sand dollars in hydrogen peroxide?
Since the sand dollars won't be harmed by the HP, I leave them about a week. If the sand dollar hasn't turned white at that point it probably isn't going go. There are some that are really stubborn and just won't turn white.
why didnt you stick your camera in the water to see the shark/tarpin? Thos little fish were very cool! so were the stingrays❤
I thought the same thing when watching the footage back! I left the water camera on the boat 😩

Hi, do you find sun dollars and angel wins all the time? Do I can find some this May in Fort Mayers?
I find both all the time and yes you can get them on Fort Myers Beach if you're lucky!
Hi Sharmon... been waiting up for this one ! :).. Now..... I can go watch it in bed ! Comments will follow ! Yaayyyyy
Hope you had sweet dreams!
How big do the buttercup leucine get ?
They only get about 2-/2" big.
1. I have a question that isn't exactly about this video, but...is there somewhere to see a listing of all your videos in date order? When I look on RUclips, they're not in order at all.
2. I don't get notified in any way when you've posted a new one...am I missing something?
3. I recently came home from beachcombing on several beaches in Normandy, France. Had to buy another suitcase for the 27 pounds of shells I brought home!!
4. I ordered some of the "safe" HCL and it's supposed to be here day after tomorrow!! Can't wait to try it!!
5. Thank you for all your wonderful videos.
1. Go to my channel and look for Playlists. There is one called "Shelling" that has all my videos in order. If you go to "View full playlist" you see all of them, starting from 3 years ago. The older ones are TERRIBLE, but I leave them up anyway. I've learned a lot since I started!
2. Bummer on the notifications! If you are on my main channel page (ruclips.net/user/swfbeachlife) and hit the subscribe button, look for the little bell symbol - that is the notifications and if you turn them all on, you should be notified when I upload.
3. I am so jealous! Collecting seashells in France? AMAZING! I would have gone for the second suitcase too!
4. The Safe HCL is a game changer! I'm so excited that it works and won't burn my skin!
5. You are so very welcome! I thank you for choosing to spend your time with me at the beach!
#3. Not all of the shells are pristine by any means, but there were so MANY!! Lots of prickly cockles, lots of large scallop shells 4.5-5" (flats, not as many of the curved ones), lots of moon snails, calico scallops and calico clams. Lots of smaller things, but my most exciting finds were A. the shell of a heart urchin (1.5"). I'd never ever even heard of them before. It was such a fun time!! (I've read that heart urchins are on Florida beaches...have you ever found one?) And B. a teeny (under 1/2") brittle star. I' never heard of or seen one of those either. And they both made it home!!
Thank you for your reply!!
@@jantaylor2034 Yes, I have heard of a heart urchin, however. I've never found one and I have found brittle stars. They can see with their feet!!!
How much does it cost
Looks like 4 hours is $650 and 6 hours is $900.
What Marina did you leave out of?
I left from Jenny's home, but she has partnered with Tween Waters and you can use their marina!
@@SWFBeachLife so the answer is Captiva

Sharks aren't down there?
They are - I just don't see them all that often.
It is so very awesome that you are doing the master naturalist program. That program is different and amazing everywhere.
I think everyone should take the classes. I loved it so much!
One thing hun, you pronounced Cayo Costa wrong.
Yeah, I still do that with some of these places!
My anxiety went through the roof once you got into the water and esp snorkeling. There's no way in hell is ever enter water where sea creatures live. I won't even go into a lake and I'm surrounded by lakes here in Washington State. I'll beach comb with you.. But you should put a warning your going into the water...
I'm so sorry! I had a completely different experience! It was relaxing and quiet and quiet. I loved the snorkeling the best I think.
@@SWFBeachLife I'm not sure what trauma I experienced in my childhood to make me fear water so much, but I'm fascinated by it as long as I'm not actually in it. Literally the only time I'm submerged is in my bathtub and once in a while a swing pool. I have severe panic attacks seeing others under water.. Not so much you walking in a few inches of it, but the underwater stuff...
It's not you, it's me. Lol
Thanks!
Lori thank you so much! 🙏🏼
