I own a 2019 KIA Niro All-Electric - AMAZING car, only superficial problems that were fixed immediately by KIA warranty. When the car was delivered it had 326 mile range - seriously.
I had a Kia E Niro, I tried to buy an EV6, huge mark up, couldn’t get options I wanted. No tax rebate. Looked at a model y and walked out with a Y performance, totally happy, actually glad I couldn’t get the EV6. And I bought it after Elon lowered the price so the Tesla was actually lower priced.
Excellent point for point comparison. I would have never looked at Kia. I thought Kia was a cheaply made vehicle. But my understanding now is that it’s part of Hyundai, if I’m not mistaken.
Thx for the comparison but one deception because I consider you as independent and wise to read marketing bs : automaker found as an argument to provide the speed of charge up to 80% but as ev drivers we know it is pointless: for me when I charge the car it is to drive miles and not %😊 How could it be relevant to compare charging speed between a 100 kwh battery and a 65 kwh one whilst we know that charging speed is a matter of Voltage, the Kia is built with 800v circuits?
The EV6 battery is 78KW (in most of the models, there is a smaller one available)and it is 800V. When hooked to a 400V DC charger it charges very quickly. Kia bypasses the ICCU when DC charging and it uses the solenoids in the rear motor to ramp up the voltage to 800 instead of having an additional unit.
Whilst the model Y is more sluggish than the EV6, I don’t necessarily think the Tesla is so behind in general. Long term, yes, Tesla will be overtaken by the larger innovation and rapid pace in China and even South Korea; but at least for right now Tesla has a good following that could hold out for several years.
There is an aspect that I want to point out. That is that many customers that have had good experiences with their cars will return to that car manufacturer. As these manufacturers present their EV’s and prove that they can compete in quality and price maybe the field will even put a bit. Thanks for these video series.
How a vehicle looks plays an important part in vehicle selection, somewhat like when one considers dating someone. The interior of the Tesla is very bland and the exterior is barely ok. My first EV was a model 3 because there was not much of a choice back then. For my next EV purchase I compared the model Y to the Mach E. I’m so glad I choose the Mach e. My model 3 has been relegated to being a spare vehicle. This example can be applied to the comparison between the Y and the EV6 as well
Wow, this video is just 5 minutes long, but the first point, which is "most important", is ridiculously wrong only 30 seconds in. The Tesla Model Y, which FULLY qualifies for the U.S. tax credit, starts at $36,490. Not $50k. And on top of that, the Tesla gets you 30 miles MORE range! So that makes the Tesla Model Y less than the Kia by over $7500. Oh and another mistake, the Model Y is not just the best selling EV in the world, it is the best selling passenger car OF ANY KIND in the world (gas or electric). And what are you blathering about - "Tax credit is harder to get"? It's exactly the same as always, but it gets MUCH easier starting in January because it will be an instant credit at purchase! I don't see any point in watching the rest of this video if you can't even get any of this information right. The Kia, in reality gets completely crushed. It's not even close. The Tesla is better, faster, lower cost, longer range, more automation, and better drivetrain quality with many Teslas showing they will go past 300k miles with ZERO maintenance to the drivetrain. Nice try. And before someone tells me that the Tesla is not faster, compare apples to apples. When you look at the least expensive Model Y (6.6s) and EV6 (8s), the Tesla is faster. How much did Kia pay you? Here is the actual Breakdown of the two least expensive trims: Tesla Model Y RWD/ Kia EV6 Light RWD Range: 260 miles / 232 miles 0-60: 6.6s / 8s Price: $36,490 / $43,925 Now there is a single trim on the Kia EV6 that beats the Tesla Model Y off the line. The Tesla Y Performance ($45k) does 0-60 in 3.5s (officially) and the Kia EV6 GT Line ($62k) does 0-60 in 3.4s (officially), however, in the real world, stock Tesla Model Ys have clocked in at 3.37s. So $16k more for a Kia that will still probably lose at the track to a Performance Model Y ? Sure. You can always count on the internet for your daily dose of garbage and lies.
This guy sounds like a Tesla hater. Model Y is the best selling EV in the world for a very good reason. Oh and by the way almost all of those recalls for Tesla were all over the air fixes.
I've already addressed this incredibly stupid argument from Tesla fans. Just because something is selling well doesn't mean it's a good product. If that would be the case then you should all start doing heroin. See where I'm going with this?
Who cares if the fixes are over the air. The fact, that it requires 'an update' tell me that it didnt do something right to begin with. Tesla hater? LOL. Didn't seem like it to me. Model Y is like a marshmallow driving down the road. The interior is as boring as a librarian on a Friday night. The Kia Ev6 is a car that happens to have a battery. The Tesla is an Iphone on wheels.
@@take5DDsomething tells me you don’t own an EV. This wouldn’t even be an issue if you did because you would realize that an update and a physical recall are not the same thing if anything updates are better because you are actually “Updating” your car. That’s right you can actually improve your car year after year instead of an ICE vehicle where you are stuck with what you bought that year. The Tesla is always improving and that means to your point it’s a cell phone on wheels that always gets better. Try proving that with any other vehicle out there.
Good video. Tried both cars in 2022 before buying a Ford Mach-e. The EV6 was nice but cramped in the front seat and entirely unusable in the back seat. (I'm 6'4" tall.) The MY had an absolutely HORRIBLE ride. It also does not have CarPlay or Android Auto. Also, I'd be very concerned with Hyundai/Kia quality. They need to get a few years of solid products out.
1,000 kwh of free charging is useless if you can't actually use the chargers. Electrify America is notorious for being unreliable unlike Tesla chargers sets the standard in EV charging reliability and availability. how convenient that those points aren't raised.
I just traveled 4500 miles in my EV6 (ended trip 10/6/23) using EA almost exclusively. Of the 20 plus EA sessions, only one was problematic and they quickly solved that. Used my free charging with no problems.
Also, it was my second cross country trip with the car and this year EA was more reliable than last year. For some reason I also got a second batch of free charging.
@@jbwaterman you may be the few who rarely had issues with EA. as for most other users of EA, they aren't as lucky. if EA really was that reliable, why would Ford, Hyundai, Volvo, Honda and others PAY Tesla to use their chargers?
Numbers of chargers. They are paying for access to the much larger and consistently reliable network of chargers. Tesla is like Apple in that it built a complete system of car, charger and software. EA was essentially a punishment imposed on VW for diesel-gate. There simply aren’t enough of the CCS chargers. I also don’t think adopting NACS will be the panacea people are envisioning. Unless Tesla re-orients their stations many cars will occupy 2 stalls. I hope it works out. Anyway, 4 times across the country, 2000 free kWh of charging, cumulatively over 40 sessions and no big problems. I find it hard to believe my experience is the exception.
@@jbwaterman definitely you are the exception. as you said, EA was a PUNISHMENT. what incentive does it get them to make a great charging network especially when they are doing it grudgingly? Nonetheless, i agree with you that i do hope that things work out well for everyone. it wouldn't be good for consumers if Tesla is to be the only dominant EV manufacturer.

EV6 is not doing 0-100 in 3.x seconds unless you are talking about the GT version, then almost all other facts about the EV6 is wrong! And the 2024 model has got new ev9 software and now support both apple and android wirelessly.
No need to forget that Tesla is cheaper than Kia. They don't sell cars through dealerships and the price of Tesla is the real price without dealerships addons. And most importantly is that what even Tesla Rear rear-wheel drive has the same safety features as Performance.
Really .1 seconds faster? Funny you mentioned the one recall for the EV6 BUT FORGOT TO MENTION THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT with the charger overheating causing an interruption in charging! There is a class action lawsuit because Hyundai does not honor their warranties! Conveniently forgotten in your video!
I got 6 months of free supercharging when I bought my Tesla Model YP. Also, free 1,000 hours of free charging for Kia at broken stations or apps that won’t connect isn’t really a great deal.
The Tesla warranty on the drivetrain is 120k miles!! Why would you not mention that??? Obviously a Tesla hater. We have a model s with over 400 k miles and a Model y with the 4680 batteries. Unreal and nothing compares to Tesla. I tried the EV6 and it was cheap feeling. Nice 120 volt outlets missing in Tesla, but as a whole? NO COMPARISON! Main reason: The Tesla Network. It is IMPOSSIBLE to be worried about charging. Charge for free at home - literally and when traveling, the Tesla GPS will take you directly to their charger when you need it. Nothing to think about. It’s a NO brainer. Terrible video lacking the most important information
Your remarks concerning the frunk are senseless cause they only refer to the AWD version. If you want to buy an EV6 you have to buy the Long Range RWD. You definitely do not need AWD. In the RWD you have a very large frunk.

Sure can take Kia MSRP and compare to Tesla, but the problem is that Kia dealer will add $10.000 market adjustment, then EV6 is not so cheap anymore.
That's an excellent point, but will fluctuate depending on your location.
