From Knight Rider Season 1 Episode 22 "Short Notice": Michael picks up a woman. While they spend the night in a motel, someone comes into the room with a gun. Michael defends himself and kills the man. The woman disappears. When the police arrive, it's difficult for Michael to prove his version of what happened. Devon tells him that there will be an investigation into his past, which they know is sketchy. Michael has to find the woman so that she could tell them it was self-defense. He finds her and learns that the man he killed works for her husband, a criminal, and that they are embroiled in a custody battle for their daughter
