I and a few of my friends, who race xc, all got the TriFox MFM100 full suspension frame. We all had a slightly different builds. I choses fox factory 120/115 suspension with Eagle drive train, shimano brakes and Fox Factory SL Transfer, iCann carbon enduro wheels. I really love my build. The beat full-sus race bike I have ever owned. My friends feel the same way. I hope people do not get the impression Trifox is inferior because it is a cheaper alternative to Scott. It really is not inferior. My frame was clean inside and out. The BB was well faced, everything fit like a charm. I weight 200 lbs and beat the crap out of the bike. Holds up very well.

I considered those frames as well, but ended up going with the Lexon Riot (the same frame Eva Lechner rides/races) and built my bike last year. I've been enjoying every minute on it. Before deciding on sticking with an XC bike, I rode a trail bike and came to the conclusion XC was a better fit for the trails I ride the most.

If you anticipate that you will never crash your bike, or if you are a sponsored rider, then a carbon mtb is ok. But that also means that you are not really pushing yourself hard enough if you don't think you'll ever crash.
But if you do are actually pushing yourself, an alloy mtb is the way to go. I can trust a crashed alloy bike more than a crashed carbon bike. And even if the frame is damaged on an alloy bike, the frame is cheaper to replace.

    • @rascal1234

@@sepg5084 A common myth. At this point, all my bikes are carbon. I race road, MTB, Cyclocross and ride MTB park.I do crash a fair amount and sometimes badly. There was only one time the carbon broke, and the hit would have put an end to any metal bike, aluminum, or steel.

The one piece of advice I can offer when it comes to getting a new bike is to ride it a bunch early on to actually get used to it. I went from a 2018 Specialized Rockhopper to a 2021 GT Force 29. The first ride out I immediately had second thoughts that it was too much bike, but about a month later I got used to it and it unlocked a new level of speed on my local trails. Even the more xc style trails near my house are a blast to rip down. Every bunch of roots became an opportunity to find a small gap and off camber sections became just another part of the trail attack instead of being slow and careful. If I had given up on it 3 rides in I’d never love it as much as I do now, 9 months later

Cross country is about pedaling and gaining peak fitness . The HTA looks really steep ( modern xc bikes have gotten slack ) . Not sure if there is a dropper but that would end any fun going down . An entry fork isn't going to cut it . I don't think the problem is the xc mind set but I think the build itself ( mostly the frame ) just doesn't work for your riding and build . Hardtail are fun if you understand how to ride them and with that you have to ride them allot or you loose the feel of the bike . You win some you loose some .

Sucks the company that gave you a frame got slammed in the thumbnail for the sake of clicks even though you said it was a great bike at the end of the video.

This frame is not like a trek, specialized or a Giant. It may look like it on the outside but I bet it looks horrible in a cross-sectional view. Those bigger companies have incredible R&D to make excellent mapping for the carbon fibre layout of the frames. You can't find a carbon bike of the same quality for $700, more like $1500+

Check out Hambini, he has examined the Trifox as well as ICON carbon frames and has very positive things to say about Chinese carbon.

The issue isn't the fact you got a cross-country bike, I have a cross-country bike and I shred black diamond enduro/DH trails. The problem is that you got a hardtail, they're not that ideal in cross-country races either 😳

Try to get a used one - you can save a lot of money in this way. Simple bikes can sometimes even be found from scrap, last year I found a sort of teenager MTB there which was still fine after a technical overhaul at home
