Yes I also am a student of different cultures. Like many in the orient and other places who eat dogs, or one state where they kill their babies and another where they don't. On farms if animals are difficult to train or who are very destructive or who kill other peoples property, yes they get the ax. Noem said in her book that the puppy was worthless and she hated it. The so-called ornery goat she killed after she killed the puppy she referred to as mean and stinking. The woman was on a killing spree, pure and simple, and sounds completely nuts.
Hopefully she won't have any future in politics beyond being a governor.
The saddest part is how many animals on her farm will con't to suffer the same fate.
The level of callousness and lack of emotional empathy it takes to do something like that to small, defenceless creature is shockingly inhumane. It's the kind of cruelty you read about in the formative years of serial killers.

Wrong. 100% wrong. There are dogs that are interbred or are just not right in the head. We had one and we later found out the breeder (Norwegian Elk Hound) had "accidently" let the mother and son breed. The puppy was vicious. We had another one of the same breed, from a puppy and he was nothing like him. In fact when we went to pick out the second one from the litter, even the other puppies had tried to kill him. His belly was all scratched up. We should have had an idea because his coloring was out of character for the breed. I know people think dogs are "humans" but they aren't. NO ONE can say with 100% certainty that a dog won't bite. My husband took the dog to the pound and told them he could not be rehomed to a home with children (he would bite our daughter viciously) or other dogs. Looking back, we should have done what Gov. Noem did to ensure he would not harm another person.

We have YEARS of experience dealing with dogs and animals of varying temperaments and behavior issues. 99.9% of the time an animal's "issues" are the owner's issue -- and responsibility. Ms. Noem was reactive, impulsive in the way she went about it. It is obvious from her own description of the event, that she acted on emotion, NOT from a place of wisdom or responsibility. Not to mention... she didn't even bother to call the breeder to ask to return the dog -- or at least to INFORM the breeder of the issue. And IF the PUPPY were "untrainable..." Noem didn't even take the time to involve her daughter in the life lesson, beforehand. Ms. Noem made a SERIOUS decision, and did so impulsively. She took the lazy, gutless, EASY way out... while bragging about making a "tough decision." HOGWASH.

I’m a guy that goes out and lives his best life and like 2 weeks ago my cat passed in my arm and I lost it. Ended up in the ER a couple days later and I still have my two dogs and one cat, but this broke my heart

But don't you think putting the dog down after it caused destruction and livelihood of other people's property that also bit her is personal responsibility too? She's had other dogs that she's trained that didn't seem to have this problem. How would you feel if it was your chickens, or it bit you or your children?

I've been bitten by dogs that I didn't report because I didn't want the dog to put down, but there's a reason why there are laws that allow for dogs to be put down when they pose a risk to others. I just think in her mind, she was protecting others and a weird sense of justice to the friend where the chickens got killed. I don't have to agree with it, but I understand it.

I ended up in the hospital last week because my cat passed away! My dogs and cats are my family. This is horrific! We don’t live in the third world country when this is acceptable!!!!

I am sick to my stomach the last 24 hrs since hearing what she wrote in her book.
All I will say is this about Kristi Noem. At one point during the pandemic, despite being the governor of a state with a population of less than 910,000 people, Kristi Noem's state had the worst Covid-19 cases per capita.

I grew up around farming, hunting and dog’s cow’s chickens cat’s. Now personally I have had 3 dogs in my adult life. The first two I did okay with training. I could walk with them without a leash. My third dog I decided to go to a dog training class. I soon realized that it was for me as much as my pup! I had a dog that I could leave home and he was always there when I got home! No pen no leash! It’s every owner’s responsibility for training a pet! If you can’t then hire someone to train your dog! Don’t blame the dog! It’s just a cop out! She’s not a well person! And I fear for her children! Seriously!

There were even witnesses - she talks about a construction crew who saw her. But then a school bus pulled up & they turned their backs & went back to work. $ & power speaks loudly here.
@@teleiamc I can’t believe how corrupt the US is/has become. In many ways it seems to operate like a third-world country.
I have an 18 month old Pyrenees, who didn’t do very well with a leash, or walks, or not getting out of the yard (a fence climber at times). I’ve patiently worked with her and now she loves the leash, is doing better on walks and we’re still working on the occasional fence climbing…usually because she wants to visit other dogs as they walk by the house. Anyone who knows the Pyrenees breed also knows how independent they are. She’s my baby and I would never dispatch her due to her inherent nature….I’d just keep working with here or hire a trainer.
